Chapter 8
Oliver
I feel exhausted and refreshed at the same time. This has been some night. Keeley is different to other women I might have dated before. She doesn’t hold back, she takes what she needs and it drives me wild.
I have two hours until she’ll be back. She went to Greenview Manor to change and get her hiking clothes for the flight later. I decide to use the time to work on the proposal for Ben and Cooper.
We have a student from the local university covering Saturdays in the office, Melissa, and she is doing a bloody good job. She gets a commission from every booking she takes and that woman can sell. I wish I could hire her fulltime but currently that’s not an option.
To my surprise, though, I’m not the only McCallum who decided to do some work despite it being a weekend.
“Hey, what are you doing here?” I greet Hannah who is sitting in my chair again. Unless she has a hiking group to lead, Hannah doesn’t usually work weekends and as far as I know nothing is booked in today.
“I wanted to finish last month’s accounts,” she shrugs.
“Well you’re going to have to do that at your desk because I need to work on the corporate event proposal now.” I make a sweeping motion to signal for her to get out of my chair.
“Fine. You know there is enough space in here for another desk,” she groans as she saves the spreadsheet to the system and logs out from her profile.
“You have a desk outside.”
“Yes, and I get bothered all the time. In here it’s quiet and you’re the only one that bothers me,” she protests.
I understand what she means. My desk is in the back to avoid being interrupted every five seconds by people who end up not booking anything, deliveries, staff, the list goes on and on.
“So, what happened last night with Keeley?”
“What? Nothing! I told you she’s a client.”
“Sure. By the way, I asked her about the review and she said she loved the trip.”
“Good. I’m taking her out on a flight today as well,” I throw in casually. She’ll find out anyway. For safety reasons, I need to log all flights and who is on it, and I’ll have to take my tandem glider.
“I didn’t see that booking on the board.” She glances to the wall where all of this week’s bookings are shown.
“It’s not, this one is on the house. She said she’d like to try it and I thought maybe she—”
“Listen, you don’t have to explain yourself to me. If or what is going on between the two of you is only a concern for the two of you. Just don’t lie to me, right?” she stops me.
I nod. Saying nothing might just be the easiest option. But I owe her an apology for yesterday.
“Hannah… I’m sorry about what I said at the pub. I shouldn’t have.”
She drops into one of the chairs around the lunch table and I join her.
“You were right though,” she sighs. “With me not dealing with Mum, all the burden has fallen on you. I’m sorry about that.”
“Don’t. I get it.”
“She seems better. I called her today about tomorrow’s lunch and she actually sounded chipper.”
“I know, right?” I feel relieved because I worry that my hope that she’ll get better stops me assessing her real state of mind.
“I still think she needs help, because the crash will come.” Hannah’s eyes are sad and I hate it.
“I know. I just don’t know how to get her there.”
“Ols, it’s not just on you. We need to get her there.”
We don’t say anything for a while. What else is there to say.
“I’m so excited,” Keeley squeals as I take her to the garage to fit her harness. I have prepared one that I think will fit her frame but we’ll try it here first to check it does rather than hiking up the mountain and finding out it doesn’t.
“This is your harness,” I hold out the black straps to her.
“Oh, didn’t know you were into kinky stuff,” she winks. The images that at once flash through my brain make me groan.
“Keeley,” I whisper a warning.
“Sorry, sorry, I’m going to be a… good girl, ” she laughs.
I ignore the seductiveness in her voice when she says “good girl” and manoeuvre her behind a wide stand holding all our ropes.
“Step.” I kneel in front of her and hold out the loops for the straps so she can slide them on. Once both her feet are through, I drag them up her legs and fit them to her thigh close to her crotch. As I tighten them to see if they fit, I use the opportunity to slide one of my fingers over her covered pussy.
Keeley gasps in surprise before slapping my shoulder.
“Behave,” she moans.
“That’s for the good girl thing,” I grin up at her. She looks around, but we’re hidden from view so she bends downwards and places a kiss on my lips.
“I’ll always be your good girl ,” she whispers against my lips. Always. That’s a lie and a half, but I don’t want to ruin the mood by calling her out.
I return to checking the harness and when I’m satisfied it is the right fit, I take it off and get it packed in with my seat plate and the canopy.
“Here,” I hold out a bottle of water and a power bar. “I have some more with me that we can have before we fly.”
“Oh, so no mid-flight peanuts? Not sure I can recommend that airline,” she jokes.
“No nuts of any sort,” I flirt back. And here I am breaking my own rule but it’s just hard to resist her.
“How unprofessional,” she teases, but her words trigger the hesitations that linger, so I take a step back.
“How are we getting up there?” she asks before taking a bite of her bar.
“Kurt is leading a climb today not far from our take off point, so we’ll hitch a lift with them.”
“Oh cool. I can’t believe I’m going paragliding,” she squeals again and her face lights up with joy. Yes, definitely the best idea I’ve ever had.
