JASONI WARD
From where I was leaned against the wall, I watched Oaklyn unbox the decorations Journi ordered.
Since the storm was expected to stop in the next day or so, we decided to start decorating so everything would be in place by the time my sister and her other guests arrived.
Today Oaklyn was dressed in a baby-pink bodysuit that clung to her like the snow on the ground outside.
So far, I had resisted the urge to feel her inner warmth, but today, my control was bound to shake against its cage a little. She was looking too damn good.
She started laughing when she finally got the box open. Glancing to where I was, we silently held each other’s gazes, and I felt my body reacting without my permission. Oaklyn had that much control over me. The tension between us thickened when she smiled.
“Are you going to just stand over there staring at me, or are you planning to help me?”
I smirked, leaning up to close the distance between us. “I’m planning to do both, actually.” When I was close enough, my fingers brushed over hers to lift the box open fully to reveal the life-size portrait of Journi.
“Where’s your portrait?” she asked in a teasing manner.
I scoffed. “Didn’t you know this was Journi’s party? She might tell me happy birthday, at best.” Oaklyn nearly fell over from laughing as we lifted the cut-out from the box. “Besides, I only agreed to come for one reason, and it wasn’t to celebrate my birthday.”
Oaky quirked an eyebrow at me. “Really? Everyone should be happy to celebrate their birthday.”
I moved the portrait over to the corner of the room, then turned to Oak with a shrug.
“I mean, I have always been cool with allowing Journi to be in the spotlight.” We began working on the banner next, which would be hanging from the banister.
“But I mean, if you want to help me celebrate, I have something in mind.”
She turned slowly, and I watched her throat stretch from her gulp of air. “And what would that be?” she inquired, unraveling the happy birthday banner.
When I closed the distance between us, she froze in place.
Leaning down, I inched closer until my lips were by her ear.
I smirked, hearing how hard she was breathing.
When I glanced down, I saw her free hand clinging to the fabric of her bodysuit like it had the ability to steady her.
“I haven’t had roseberry cake in a long time. I feel like it would suffice.”
She slowly looked at me, only to find me smiling at her. “A cake? That’s it?”
I nodded innocently. “Of course. What else could I ask you for?” I teased because I knew exactly where her mind had gone. “Or we could do whatever you’re thinking about. I’d be cool with that too.”
She bumped me with her shoulder before stomping by. “You’re so damn mannish.”
I held my hands up innocently. “You were thinking it; I was just helping you out in case you’re afraid to ask for what you want.”
She waved me off, making her way to the stairs. “Come on, boy, and bring the tape with you.”
I chuckled before doing what I was told. “Yes, ma’am. Whatever you say, and whatever you want to do.”
She mugged me when I approached her at the top of the stairs. “Jasoni, don’t make me push you over here.”
“Not you want my sunrise and sunset day to be the same.” She punched me in the arm with all her might, and it still didn’t hurt. I pretended like it did though. “Ssss, ouch. Why you beating on me, woman?”
“’Cause you get on my nerves.” While her tone suggested as much, the look in her eyes when I walked up on her told a different story. When she turned to hang the banner over the banister, I stepped up behind her with the tape in hand.
“Here you go,” I whispered in her ear. I was sure she could feel the hardness of my erection up against her because she gasped. She used her ass to bump me backward, and I used it as an opportunity to tease her a little more. “You don’t gotta act like that, Oaky. I want you too.”
“Keep it up, and you can kiss that cake you want goodbye.” I made the zipper motion over my lips then tossed away the imaginary key. “That’s what I thought. Get to work, sir.”
I laughed on my way to hold up the banner for her to tape.
After we finished with that, we moved on to blowing up the pink and black balloons.
The entire time we worked, we flirted, and I used every opportunity to get close to her.
While she played indifferent to my proximity, I noticed she also kept coming closer.
All she had to admit was that she wanted it too, and I would supply her every need and feed her every desire.
After we finished with setting up the decorations, Oaklyn collapsed on the couch. “Whew. I’m ready to watch one of my shows now.” Since I wasn’t interested in doing that, I prepared to head upstairs for a nap. Her voice stopped me though. “Soni, where are you going?”
“To take a nap.”
“You can take one down here,” she suggested.
I couldn’t fight my smile as I headed over to where she was. “If you wanna be around me, then just say that, baby.”
She busied herself with reaching for the remote to turn on the TV. “You know what? I don’t think we’re cool enough for me to be baking for you.”
I plopped down on the couch with a pout. She went to the Netflix app on the TV and flipped through until she found the show she wanted to watch. “What would it take for us to be cool enough?”
“Just watch this C-Drama with me, please.” She pressed her palms together in the prayer position. If it was anyone else, I would’ve gone with my original plan, but since it was Oaklyn, how could I turn her down?
“I’m not even going to know what they’re saying,” I fussed, even though I began to get comfortable on the couch.
“That’s what the subtitles are for, silly.
Shh, it’s starting.” I watched her tuck her feet under her, wishing she was a little closer.
So I did what I wanted and scooted until I was sitting right beside her.
Tossing my arm over her shoulder, I pulled her into my side.
She gave me a side-eye but didn’t move to put any distance between us either. “Really?”
I nodded innocently, pushing her head so that it was resting on my shoulder. “Yep. If I’m not going to take my nap, the least you can do is let me lounge how I want to.”
Oaklyn didn’t put up anymore fuss, because she became engaged in the show. I alternated between watching the screen and watching her. She was thoroughly enjoying it, while I was struggling to keep up with reading the subtitles. “They talking too damn fast. I can’t keep up.”
Oaklyn nodded before reaching for the remote. “Sometimes, I don’t catch it all and have to rewind.”
I kept quiet while she rewound the show back for me.
The second time, I was able to catch what was being said.
“Oh, shit!” I jumped when the main character started fucking shit up.
There was a group of men chasing him and the little girl he was with.
He had to fight to protect her, and though he was outnumbered, he was slicing them niggas up.
Until one got the best of him and cut him across the side.
He fell to his knee while using his sword to hold him up in the most dramatic way I’d ever seen. Then came the mouthful of blood he spat into the perfectly white snow. I burst out into laughter. “Oh, nah, they too fucking dramatic for me. Why he gotta do all that?”
She bumped me with her shoulder. “Shh! It’s supposed to be dramatic; that’s, like, the whole point. This is art. Be quiet before you don’t get that cake.”
I shook my head. “Wow, threatening me with something I really want is so cruel.” I laughed when she gave me the middle finger.
“Can I, pretty please?” She whacked me on the arm, and I laughed even harder.
“Okay, okay, I’m just playing. But like, can you at least let me rub on your ass since you’re forcing me to watch this dramatic ass shit? ”
I expected her to turn me down again, but surprisingly, she pushed me down on the couch then laid her head on my chest. I adjusted the couch pillow so that my neck was comfortable, then eased my hand down her waist until I gripped her ass.
She shivered against me but didn’t make any moves to stop me from doing it.
A satisfied smile appeared on my face as I began to massage her ass cheeks.
“What the fuck are they talking about?” I questioned.
Oaklyn giggled. “I’ll give you a pass because that wasn’t translated too well.
I don’t always understand everything, but I just use context clues.
” She shrugged like it wasn’t a big deal, and that was when I knew she was a true fan of this genre.
I couldn’t get into anything I didn’t understand, whether there were context clues or not.
Instead of replying, I continued to rub on her.
That was the most satisfying part of this, aside from the fighting scenes and her voice every time I asked her a question about what was going on.
By the third episode, I started to get into the storyline a little bit, only to realize Oaklyn had drifted off to sleep on my chest after she never answered my last question about one of the characters.
I smiled down at her and brushed her hair out of her face.
Since I didn’t want to move and disturb her, I allowed the show to keep playing while I memorized the peaceful expression on her face.
Tightening my grip, I allowed my eyes to drift closed, loving the way her body felt pressed up against mine.
I found myself praying that this wasn’t a one-time thing, and something I could experience for the rest of my life.
Smirking to myself, I whispered, “Shout out my nigga Yan Zheng.”
