FOURTY
I was currently sitting in my office reading over important paper work that I need to sign.
Olivia, was resting in my bed, still sleeping this morning.
We didn't get back till late last night and I knew she was exhausted.
I had a stack of papers on my desk that all needed my attention, the paper work never stops.
I would much rather be back in my room with Olivia.
BANG BANG BANG
My head snapped up towards my office door that someone was banging on.
I lay down the aper that is in my hand back down onto my desk.
I get up and take long strides to the office door before I swing it open.
I see Jeremy, my third in command, standing in my office door way.
He looked plae, like he had just seen a ghost.
"Alpha, we have a proplem," his voice on edge.
"What is it, Jeremy?" I ask, looking at him sternly.
"We found four of our pack members ripped apart in the woods. It looks like it happened last night. We have one survivor and he is at the pack hospital," He grits out.
"WHAT? WHO THE HELL WAS ON WATCH LAST NIGHT?" I seeth out.
"Emerson and Jack were," he told me truthfully.
"Lead me towards the bodies, Jeremy. Then I want to see the man that is in the hospital and I want Emerson and Jack waiting for me in my office when we get back," I grit out.
"Yes, Alpha," He nods.
Jeremy leads me down the stairs and outside as we walk through the yard and towards the woods.
I follow behind Jeremy as we walk through the woods, I notice he was leading me toward Olivia's favorite spot but what concerned me the most was the fact I smelt no other scent besides the pack members that were torn apart blood.
The strong smell of blood filled my nostrils as we stopped at the over look.
I see four bodies laying on the ground and I clech my jaw in anger.
I couldn't even recognize the bodies of my pack members, the damage was so extent.
"Jeremy, why can I not smell someone else's scent?" I asked as I clenched my fists, not wanting to know the answer.
"It looks like they covered up their scents and there are no tracks to find them," his voice filled with anger, "Austin and Emmet did a full perimeter check, twice, they couldn't find anything. Not a scent and no tracks."
"GOD DAMMIT!," I roar, "Have Austin and Emmet come help you clean this up!," I commanded.
"Yes, Alpha," he murmered quietly.
"I am going to the pack house hospital. I want Emerson and Jack waiting in my office when I get back," I clenched my jaw.
"Where is the man that was apart of the attack last night?" I asked the pack doctor.
"This way, Alpha," she said lowly.
She led me to a room and opened the door for me to enter. I entered the room and she left, closing the door behind me. I walked over to the man who sat on the bed awake as his head snapped towards me. I take a seat in the chair beside his bed and calm myself down, taking in a deep breath.
"What is your name?," I asked the pack memeber.
"Waylen," he said softly avoiding my eyes as he looked down. He couldn't be no more then sixteen.
"Waylen, tell me what the hell happened last night while I was gone," I cleched my fists as the anger is started to rise back up.
He gulped, looking nervous, "Rouges, Alpha. Me and four other were outside talking when they appeared from the woods. There was twelve of them. They killed the others I was with. They wanted to send you a message...," he trailed off, "They made sure I stayed alive..."
My jaw clenches tighter, "Why did they keep you alive?!," I asked, anger in my words.
"T-they kept me alive to deliver the message," he whispered.
"What is the goddamn messgae?!," I sneered.
"T-they want...t-they...," he pauses, going quiet before he sighs, "they want, Olivia."
"WHAT?" I roar causing him to whimper back in fear.
'CHECK ON OLIVIA NOW!' I yell through mind link at Jeremy.
'Alpha, what is going on?' He immediatly mind links back, concern in his voice.
'CHECK ON HER NOW! I AM ON MY WAY BACK! SHE IS IN MY ROOM! DO NOT TELL HER WHAT IS GOING ON!'I seeth before cutting Jeremy out.
"Thank you, Waylen," I nod at him before making a quick exit from the room.
I run out of the hospital and dart straight towards the pack. I swing open the front door and Jeremy is walking back down the stairs. I walk up to him as soon as he gets to the bottom.
"She is still asleep," He confirms.
I felt wave of relief wash over me. My heart was pounding at the thought of someone trying to get a hold of her.
"Call a pack meeting, leave Olivia out of it," I grind out.
"What is going on? Is Olivia in trouble?" He asked, his voice laced with concern.
I nod, "She is. You will be watching over her from now on. Do not leave her side," I say sternly.
"Yes, Alpha," He nods back, "Who wants to hurt Olivia?"
"Call the meeting and I will discuss it then. Right now I need to go deal with Emmerson and jack. Are they in my office waiting for me?" I ask him.
"Yes, Alpha," He says.
I nod and dart up the stairs and to my office.
I slam the door open and slam it shut. Emmerson and Jack's heads snap towards me with wide eyes.
I start to feel uncontrolable anger rise inside me as my eyes turn black with rage.
I walk up to Emmerson and grab him by his throat, pulling him up from the chair, his feet off the ground.
"WHY THE HELL WERE YOU NOT DOING YOUR JOB LAST NIGHT?" I snap, my words laced with venom.
"I-I c-can't b-breath, A-Alpha," He says, gasping for air.
I drop him to the floor and he falls to his knees trying to catch his breath, coughing. I glare at Jack who is shaking in his seat with wide eyes. I grit my teeth and clench my fists, wanting to tear them apart just looking at them.
"SPEAK OR SOMEONE IS DEAD!" I roar at them.
"Alpha, we did our check. We didn't see anything that drew attention. There was nothing wrong the whole night when we were on watch. Until... we heard what happened this morning with four of the pack members..." Jack spoke up while Emmerson still sat in the floor with his head low.
It made me furious that someone got a jump on my pack with no one even noticing anything. I want to know who is trying to take Olivia. All I can do for now is protect her like my life depends on it.
"LEAVE! NOW!," I yell at them.
They hurry and scurry out of my office, closing the door behind him. I take deep breath trying to relax myself. That's when I realized the rouge attack on Olivia was meant to happen, that they were apart of this plan to get Olivia.
