Later the next day, as dawn shed its light on the city of Athens, Psi escorted Vivi back to his place.

They had languished in the waters all night, making love again and again and then catching a late night snack in the waters.

But when a few fishermen caught sight of his Vivi naked, Psi thought it best they return to civilization and get her some new clothes lest he blind every human along the coastline.

“Did you really enchant Arthur’s sword, Excalibur?” he asked.

“No.” Vivi shook her head. “That wasn’t me. Were you truly eaten by your father?”

“Unfortunately, that is a true story.”

“Wow,” said Vivi. “And I thought my father was a piece of work.”

“Now we have each other,” said Psi. “I promise I will never toss you into a river. Not unless I come in after you.”

“I promise, I will never eat you.”

Psi gave her a wicked grin in response. He would likely have to renegotiate those terms after a couple more nights in bed with her.

But he would have more than a couple of nights.

He was going to share every night until the end of eternity with this woman and he couldn’t wait to get started.

He led her to his rooms, but an assortment of boxes and bags blocked the way.

Psi sighed, knowing exactly who the boxes belonged to. “Demi,” he shouted.

His dark-haired sister popped her head out of her door. “Keep your trident sheathed. I’ll be out of the way in just—oooh.”

Demi stepped into the hall wearing her typical designer flair that had likely cost the amount of Greece’s annual gross domestic product. Her gaze surveyed Vivi who was dressed in Psi’s shirt, which fell to her knees.

Psi doubted his sister was eyeing Vivi for her fashion sense. No, Demi was curious as to the nearly nude woman her typically disinterested brother was bringing home to his inner sanctuary.

“Who’s this?” Demi asked, sashaying forward in her designer heels.

Vivi’s gaze was locked on his sister’s heels. “Are those Nicotera’s new collection?”

Demi looked down at her shoes. “They are. The dear man is a devotee of mine. I believe they get unveiled to the public today. He sent them over last night.”

Psi couldn’t help but laugh to himself. He’d spent all night trying to find a way to get to these shoes. Meanwhile, they were down the hall the whole time.

Vivi fell to her knees and reached out to examine the shoes on Demi’s feet. Her fingers reached out tentatively to stroke the leather. Only at the last minute, did she retract her hand and look up at Demi.

“They’re beautiful, everything I ever dreamed,” said Vivi. “May I touch them?”

Demi looked to Psi with a look of horror, bewilderment, and amusement.

Psi reached down and grasped Vivi by the underarms, pulling her up and into his embrace. “Demeter, this is Viviane. She’s…” Psi searched for the words to describe what Vivi meant to him. “She’s my soul mate.”

Which was ironic because demigods didn’t have souls. They fed off of souls. But Vivi had a soul and the pure, unconditional love that she gave him would sustain him for the rest of his life. In turn, Psi would remain devoted to her for all of eternity.

Demi’s eyes widened high enough to reach her perfectly plucked eyebrows. “Hello, Viviane.”

“My friends call me Vivi.”

“I think we can be friends,” said Demi. “I suppose if you’re my brother’s mate, then that would make us sisters?”

“I’ve always wanted a sister.” Vivi’s eyes lit up. “Does that mean we can borrow each other’s clothes… and shoes? Just like best friends?”

And now Demi’s eyes lit up. She took Vivi’s hands from Psi and pulled her over to the boxes and bags cluttering the hallway. Their other sisters, Hestia and Hera, didn’t care as much about fashion as Demi.

It seemed Psi would have competition for his new mate’s attention. But he didn’t mind. He’d use everything in his power to keep Vivi happily by his side, even if that meant talking about shoes.
