Chapter 13

POV: Liam?

I had just watched Declan kiss Maeve.

To tell you I was shocked would be an understatement.

I didn’t think the guy had it in him.

And I think by the look on Maeve’s face and the now disappointed look on his face, he regretted it, and he figured he overshot.

It was cruel to watch and I even felt bad for the guy.

I didn’t wish ill on the guy. I would never wish ill on anyone but this…this was exactly what I wanted to happen, wasn’t it?

I watched jealously as they had danced an hour before. I didn’t like the way he touched her waist thinking he had a chance with her. I didn’t like the way she smiled at him, which confused me into thinking she was actually interested in him. I didn’t like the way she took his hand in hers, gingerly.

I didn’t like the way that I began second guessing everything that I thought I knew.

I was the one who told her I wasn’t interested in commitment. Yet, I regretted it as soon as I said it.

Because it sent her right into Declan’s shaky arms.

Or so I thought.

Because seeing Maeve’s face after he had kissed her, changed my thought process. Maeve didn’t kiss him back. Frankly, she looked as if she didn’t enjoy the kiss one bit.

And that made me happy.

Though I felt bad for the poor sap, I knew the truth—that her deflection of his kiss was my chance.

Maeve was already on her way out, probably halfway down the street by now.

I broke into a sudden jog as I ran towards the exit and into the town square. And there she was, walking down the middle of the street and towards the sidewalk.

“Maeve!” I called out.

She stopped in her tracks but didn’t turn around. For a moment, I thought she would stay there, but she surprised me by starting to walk away again.

“Maeve!” I called out again, striding towards her.

She just kept walking.

Finally, I was next to her, running in front of her and stopping her in place. “Where are you possibly going?” I asked, almost yelling.

The music around us drowned out the noise. We stood in the middle of the town square as dozens of people walked around us.

“Home, Liam,” she nearly scoffed as she continued to walk away from me.

“We should talk,” I replied, grasping her arm lightly, holding her in place.

She looked down at my hand on her arm but stopped protesting.

“Why don’t we go back to the pub?”

“And talk about what?” she asked, narrowing her eyes. “There’s nothing to talk about.”

“I think there is,” I smiled.

No smile. Just a stone cold stare. “You’ve already made things quite clear.”

“I—well—I,” for once a woman had me floored. “I want to talk. I want to explain things.”

Silence.

“Please, Maeve.”

“Fine,” she replied, tugging away from my grasp and walking towards the bar.

Luckily, the walk was short, because neither of us said a single word.

And when I locked the door behind us and we stepped into an empty bar, it felt like everything exploded in one second.

“Let’s get something straight, you don’t own me and you don’t have the right to accost me in a public town square and force me to listen to you!” she yelled.

The fire in her eyes was almost adorable, so I couldn’t help but smirk but that made her even more angry.

“And this—this is not funny! You messing with my emotions is not funny at all, Liam!”

“Maybe just a little,” I teased, stepping closer to her. “But you’re right, I’m sorry. That’s why I wanted to talk in private while the pub is closed.”

“I don’t even know what you want to talk about anymore! You tell me you’re not interested in commitment then you run after me and insist you want to talk!”

“I’m confusing you. I know, but hell, Maeve. I’m confusing myself,” I explained.

“I’m listening.”

“I just don’t want you to get your expectations up,” I replied.

“I told you I didn’t come here for a husband.”

I shook my head, almost not believing her. “Then what are you doing with Declan?”

“What do you mean?” she scoffed. “I’m not doing anything with Declan.”

“Oh, you aren’t?” I laughed, raising an eyebrow. “Seems like you two were getting pretty cozy out there.”

“Oh, so now you’re accusing me of being flirtatious? This conversation’s going great,” she barked out.

“Sorry,” I paused, finding the right words. “I meant, you’re obviously interested in dating.”

“I told you, I agreed to go out with him for my grandma,” she paused. “But glad to hear it’s making you jealous.”

“I’m not jealous,” I replied, stone-faced.

She shook her head in disbelief. “This was a waste of time.” And turned on her heels towards the door.

I reached out and grabbed her hand, stopping her in place.

She didn’t resist. Though she didn’t stop fighting, which I expected out of Maeve.

“Just let me go,” she replied, almost exhausted.

“I don’t think you want that, love.”

And for a moment, neither of us spoke, instead we just stared at each other with longing.

I couldn’t take it anymore.

I couldn’t control my desires any longer. I wanted her, and she wanted me and for the next hour, that should be enough.

My lips were on hers within a seconds time, as I pressed her back against the bar countertop.

In a fit of uncontrolled frenzy, my hands were on her waist, inching up her shirt, and desperate to touch the bare skin of her waist.

She moaned out softly as her hands raked across my back.

My lips trailed their way down her neck, tasting her—-her perfume tingling on my tongue with each kiss.

“Liam,” she whispered but it came out in a desperate moan.

“Maeve,” I echoed, kissing down her collarbone towards the top of her breasts.

I traced my fingers along her upper thigh, drawing circles with my fingertips, controlling my lust, and the inclination to touch her in between her thighs.

She parted her thighs slightly, welcoming my touch—so slowly, almost agonizingly slow.

I found my way towards her core and ran my thumb along the center of her soft fabric skirt, touching her slickness and causing her back to arch against the edge of the countertop.

“Liam,” she groaned against my neck.

“So wet,” I murmured into her ear.

“Do it,” she replied, almost in a sudden whisper.

“Do what?” I teased, as my finger continued stroking her clothed clit.

“Take me, Liam.”

The words were simple, finite, and I didn’t wait for her to change her mind.

As quickly as I could, I turned her around so her ass was facing me.

My cock was strained in my jeans, hard as a rock.

I used the palm of my hand to rub her lower back as she adjusted her ass outwards, framing her perfect plump ass and waist for me.

My mouth was centimeters away from her ear, “say it again.”

She didn’t waste a second. “Take me, Liam.”

I clutched her waist and used my other hand to unzip my pants and pull out my cock. Before I knew it, I was lifting her skirt, sliding her underwear to the side and entering her.

It wasn’t slow or soft, it was quick and passion-filled.

As I thrusted inside her, she let out a loud groan, one that was filled with pleasure and need.

“Fuck,” I muttered as I thrusted again, feeling her tightness suffocate my cock. “You feel so good, love.”

She moaned as she bent her ass out more for me.

“God, you drive me wild,” I bit back a wild moan as I pumped faster. “I can’t stop wanting you.” My hand tightened around her waist as I thrusted again.

Maeve craned her neck to watch me and that nearly made me cum.

Wide blue eyes, long blonde hair, and an ass I could crack a belt over. She looked perfect. Disobedient but subordinate at the same time, watching me take her from behind.

“You like watching, don’t you love?” I groaned as I pumped inside her again, this time rougher as my gaze never left hers. “God, Maeve,” I almost lost my breath thrusting inside her. “I don’t–” I replied, thrusting again. “I don’t understand you.”

And as she looked at me with both devil and angel inside her, moaning and smiling at the same time, I knew I would never quite understand her, not really.

The release came rough, as I spilled inside her, and she came around me, shaking as she did.

That orgasm was insane.

She laid bent over my bar’s countertop for a few minutes, still as could be, with my cock still inside her, and my cum dripping from her.

And I knew I was fucked.

I had gone against everything I said—-to stay away and that I didn’t want commitment.

I wanted her to know that she didn’t know what she was playing with. And it turns out neither did I.

We were both playing with fire. And I knew in the end, we’d both get burned.
