Chapter 19 #2
“Shirley,” Summer whispers, and for the first time since we saved her, she rushes over to someone, Mama instantly taking my girl into her arms as Stone grips my shoulder in support, seeing emotions finally come out of my girl, who sobs against Mama’s shoulder.
Summer holds my mama tight before she pulls back a little, taking my girl in, all of her changes.
“Let’s go for a walk, darling,” Mama whispers, and I swear to fuck my eyes tear up seeing Summer agree as she cups her cheek.
Summer looks my way for a moment, and I give her a half smile, fucking loving the relationship she gained with my mama, who, by the way, slapped me when I explained what had happened with Sum.
She never believed she would hurt me that way and yeah in hindsight, I should have listened to my mama, she's always right.
She looks at me, tears shining in her eyes, and I mouth, ‘Thank you, Mama,’ and she smiles as she guides Summer towards the door ready to get my girl to open up, being the only person right now who can, passing a pissed off Dad in the process.
I’ve kept Mama up to date, and since hearing what happened to my girl, she’s been on a mission to get home. I am so fucking glad she’s here. Summer never had a mother figure, but as soon as I introduced them both, she looked up to my mama.
“Come on, Shirley, when are you going to get over the past?” Dad groans when Mama walks straight past him without a word and I wince as Stone mutters, “Shit.”
Their friendship they used to have is well and truly gone and Dad only has himself to blame, fuck, he caused shit between Mama and Hannah and the only reason why they’ve gotten close is because of me and my sister.
Summer’s eyes widen as Mama looks at Dad like she could murder him right there despite the brotherhood around her and he looks to his wife who shakes her head at his stupidity.
“Oh, you are definitely on your own this time, sweetheart,” Hannah mutters as she stands on the other side of my girl, and Dad gulps, seeing his mistake.
“How about the same amount of time you decided not to be a father to our son, who just wanted to make everyone fucking happy?” she growls, making Dad flinch before she curls her lip at him and sneers, “Watch it, Taser, you wouldn’t want to be tazed again now, would you?”
Oh fuck.
Dad takes a step back as Mama continues to guide Summer towards the back door with Hannah following them, and the brothers all try to hold in their laughter at Dad's expense. Dad, though, ignores them and looks my way, growling, “I thought you didn’t want anyone around her when you started dating? How is she close to your girl?”
Guess I should have seen that one coming.
“Mama is different,” I remind him, and he huffs, sulking, causing the brothers to laugh even louder while Ashley shakes her head and follows the ladies outside, while I try my hardest to stay rooted in my spot – okay, Stone is the reason why I haven’t moved, but still, it wouldn’t take much to get out of his hold.
“When are you going to stop pissing her off?” I ask with a sigh before he can bitch and moan, and he mutters, “When she gets over it,” and I glare at him.
The fucker cut me out of his life because I chose my mama!
Dad winces, realizing what he said, then groans, “Okay, I fucked up over the years,” and everyone snorts as I state, “No shit, you lucked out having a woman like her have your kid.”
Dad winces again but nods just as my little sister rushes into the common room, tears trailing down her cheeks, and Dad sighs, “Let me guess, his girlfriend found out?”
Wait what?
I look at Dad with furrowed brows but he shakes his head and mutters, “She’s been dating a guy who’s been with his girlfriend for eight years and even had his kid.”
I thought she was dating some frat guy?
My mouth parts in shock as I look at my sister but Laura looks away like she’s ashamed, and I roll my eyes and go to follow my girl, but Stone clamps his hand down, and I groan, causing him to snort while Dad smirks.
Fuckers.
I shake my head as Laura looks at me with frustration, clearly not getting the response she wants. A response that she doesn’t need because clearly she just wants attention and didn’t give a shit about the girlfriend, so I state, “Mama is outside with Summer.”
Laura frowns and I smirk causing her eyes to light up, realizing who I mean, and the guy and his girlfriend are instantly forgotten as she runs towards the back door, Dad's chuckle following.
“How in the fuck did I get so lucky that your mama found love for my daughter even after I became a jackass out of jealousy?” Dad asks, and I murmur, “Because she is a saint.”
Dad hums in agreement and says, “She’ll get through to Summer, if anyone can, your mama can, your girl looked at her with a daughters love.”
I swallow hard and look towards the back door, fucking hoping he is right because I am at a loss at what to do, and like fuck will I tie her to the bed or lock her in the house and cause her trauma to come back tenfold. I need to play this different.
I really fucking hope Mama can help because I can’t lose Summer.
