Chapter 1 #2

“Besides,” she continues. “You know we want to have a Jack and Jill party, which means you get to work right alongside him to make it a great night. If anyone can bring out the fun side of Seth, it’s you.”

“You’ve said, and I quote, ‘he’s as fun as a soggy diaper.’ Even my party planning skills have limits,” I say with a laugh, pushing my glasses up my nose.

“What about your matchmaking skills? Cary says it’s been forever since Seth’s dated. Maybe he needs to get laid? You can take him out, wingman for him so he finds a nice southern girl for a night or two,” Thea says.

I narrow my eyes at her. “Why does it sound like he needs a babysitter? I’m not looking to entertain some sort of nerd for however long he’s here.”

“I’m sure—” her response is cut off by her dinging phone, which she picks up, blushing after reading whatever’s on the screen. Insert internal eye roll here. “You know,” she says looking at me, her other thought forgotten. “I’m getting kinda tired. Are you ready to head out?”

“Sure,” I say, downing the rest of my glass and hers since it looks like she’s abandoned it.

“Let’s go out through the distillery, I want to make sure Brooks locked the door behind him.”

I lock the front and head toward the swinging doors to the distillery as Thea’s finishing up putting our dirty glassware in the sink for someone to wash tomorrow.

As I step through the doors, I hear muffled sounds.

Oh shit. Those aren’t just any sounds, I’m hearing sex noises.

Taking one more step forward, I catch sight of Brooks and Margot by the bar. These two couldn’t even wait the five minutes it would take for them to get home.

He’s got her ass propped up on one of the stools in the tasting room, skirt hiked up to her hips.

One of her elbows is resting on the bar, her other arm is holding on to the back of his neck, fingers digging in.

Brooks has Margot’s right leg hooked on his arm, the other wrapped around his hip.

The noises they’re making are obscene, and my dick plumps up a little in my pants.

I knew from a young age girls were not for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love them; I think women are beautiful, powerful, fierce creatures, I just really don’t want them anywhere near my dick.

But watching Brooks go at it—did I just hear him grumble out a “please?”—Yeah, that’s definitely doing it for me.

His pants are down at his ankles, and he’s got a great ass.

He’s been working out as a way to tame the nicotine cravings, and let me just say, the hard work is definitely paying off.

I cock my head for a better angle. I need to up my squat game.

Thea finally follows me out, her head in her phone again, and runs right into my back, gasping loudly at the impact. Brooks stills, and both he and Margot look over.

They’re looking at us, we’re looking at them. I don’t know if any of us are breathing. The door swings closed behind Thea, the sound echoing throughout the space, breaking the silence of the moment.

Margot’s face, already pink from exertion, blushes darker still. And then… she wiggles her hips as her breathing picks up. Brooks turns his attention to her and smiles wide. And then he thrusts. Once, twice. Slowly, he works himself up to the same steady rhythm he had when I first walked in.

“Oh my God,” Thea rasps out, and I’m not sure if it’s because she can’t wrap her head around what’s happening right now or because she’s turned on.

If I were a betting man, I’d bet my whole-ass house it’s the latter.

“We… uh… we should… um…” she trails off, her glassy eyes glued to the live-action porno playing out in front of us.

“Y’all don’t have to go,” drawls out Brooks, punctuating his words with a few indecent hip swivels. “My girl, here, loves being watched. Don’t you, Freckles?”

My eyebrows shoot up to my hairline. Sweet, little nurse Margot is a freak! I love it. I absolutely love it so much, I can’t wait to tell—

I’m cut off mid-thought as Thea shakes herself free of her lust haze and drags me back the way we came, calling out behind her, “Sanitize everything, and make sure the doors are locked, you perverts!” I hear Brooks’ laughter as the door closes, quickly cut off by a groan.

“Holy fuck, I need to bleach my brain,” says Thea, still dragging me. We make it outside through the front door and lock up behind ourselves.

“Fuck. That was hot,” I say as we make our way down the steps and onto the sidewalk that will take us to Thea’s house. “Who knew Margie had it in her? I mean, I know we saw she had it in her, but who—”

“Stop. Stop it right there,” Thea cuts me off. “Take me home. I need to sleep and hope this is a waking nightmare. I did not need to know any of that about either of them.”

“It’s hardly the first time we’ve caught Brooks doing something similar around the restaurant. Remember the time with Nat in the walk-in freezer?”

“Ugh, don’t remind me. He still owes me for all the produce I had to throw away,” Thea says, taking my hand as we cross an empty street. “But it’s different with Margot. I love that girl. I could have gone my whole life without seeing Brooks defiling her like that.”

“I didn’t hear her complaining.” I laugh as she swats at me. We continue walking for a few minutes, our conversation turning to plans for the restaurant and what she still has to do for her wedding in four weeks.

Right as we arrive at her house, Thea turns to me. “You know I couldn’t do any of this without you, right, Rip? You’re my person.”

“Is that the tequila talking? You’re not usually this mushy with me,” I quip, the real emotions making my skin tighten.

“Maybe, but I really do love you. Thank you for being my man of honor,” she says, and her voice hitches a bit, tears welling. Oh boy, we’ve reached the weepy Thea part of the evening.

I pull her in for a hug. “I love you, babe. Now, get inside and get naked on camera for that sexy fiancé of yours. I’m sure he’s waiting.”

She pulls back, lets out a wet chuckle, and swipes at her eyes. “You sure you don’t want to stay?”

“I think I got enough of a show back there,” I say, hitching my thumb behind me in the general direction of RED.

She laughs, and it’s such a great sound.

I love making this girl happy. Just like I’m her person, she’s mine, and I’d do anything for her.

“But I’m good. I’ll see you tomorrow. Have a good night! ”

I plant a kiss on her cheek and watch her step inside. As I walk away from Thea’s house, I pull out my phone and send a text I know I shouldn’t before switching over to call the number I use way too often. He picks up after two rings.

“You couldn’t say hi earlier?”

“My place, fifteen minutes.”
