MAGGIE
“And that, is the story of how Mommy saved Daddy Andre from a horde of screaming fans,” I whisper and smile over at Domino.
Domino leans over the twin bed, getting closer to me. “We’re so lucky he fell asleep before you went into all the sex in the close detail.”
“Mm, that was more for your benefit.”
“I should hope so, but now that you’ve made me harder than fucking steel, what are you going to do about it?”
“I’d love to go take advantage of you in bed, but unfortunately, the story totally cut into doing the dishes. I guess one of us is going to have to go finish them.”
My husband’s eyes narrow. “By one of us, you mean me, right?”
“And people say men can’t read between the lines. Hopefully, you’ll finish the dishes before I finish myself off in the shower.” I stand and waltz out of the room, laughing as Domino runs down the hall.
I never expected to fall in love with him. Wasn’t prepared for it. I wasn’t really prepared for anything.
I loved my life, the family I’d built with Ryder and Lyric. The kids were my world, so I never thought … I never thought taking something for myself that one fateful night could lead me to love again.
I wasn’t expecting more than sex. For that one night, for a few weeks, I was sure that was all it would be. But it turns out, that night changed everything. It gave me hope. It gave me love again. And after that night, I knew everything would be different for me.
My heart twinges because I’m so grateful for what I have. It almost feels selfish to have two great loves of my life, but without a doubt, Domino is that for me.
He makes my soul complete, but we’re partners in every way. Equals. And I’m the luckiest woman alive.
