Chapter 11 #3
“You think?” I asked sarcastically.
I hit the drain and once the water was low enough for us to not cause it to overflow, we got in. Jax immediately hit the jets, which burst to life.
She sat down right in front of one and sighed. “These jets are heavenly. They’re the second best thing to your touch.”
Her words caused an idea to pop into my head. “Turn the other way. Let it hit you where you like me to touch you. You can get your two favorite things at once.”
Jax didn’t move, but instead, tilted her head at me. “But isn’t it your turn?”
“I think I can find a way to get myself off at the same time as you. Don’t worry.”
I was already so turned on from the taste of Jax on my lips and tongue that I knew it wouldn’t take much to pull an orgasm from myself.
After some acrobatics that had both Jax and me laughing, she found a good position. “Fuck that feels good.”
“Just wait.”
I put my front flush up against her back and brought my hand between her legs.
“Shiiiit,” Jax moaned. “Oh my god, Carter. Don’t stop. That feels so good.”
I leaned even closer so my lips were beside her ear and whispered to her. “Why would I ever stop? Touching you is my favorite thing in the world.”
Jax responded by grunting and pushing her ass even tighter up against me. My center throbbed, begging for release.
While I moved my fingers over Jax, I rubbed myself against her ass. I moaned in pleasure at how good it felt and Jax moaned in response.
“Inside,” Jax gasped. “I need you inside of me.”
I moved two fingers to her opening while rubbing against her ass even harder. Fuck, this is hot. I threw my head back as I banged my body against hers over and over in rhythm with how I was fucking her with my fingers.
My whole body thrust faster and harder the closer I came to the edge.
When I knew I was about to come, I shoved my fingers deep inside of Jax and curled them to hit just the right spot to make her come as well.
We both screamed out in pleasure. Our screams were so loud, I was pretty sure if someone was walking by outside, they would have heard.
But I didn’t care. All I cared about was Jax and this moment and how good it felt to have her so completely.
I pulled my fingers out of her and rested my head on her shoulder as I struggled to catch my breath.
After a minute, Jax’s body shook against mine as she started to giggle. “Just when I think our sex life couldn’t possibly get any better, you go and prove me wrong. You’re a fucking animal, Carter Miller-Cooper.”
Instead of responding, I kissed her shoulder and continued a trail of kisses up her neck and onto her cheek.
Jax twisted around just in time for my lips to hit hers, and even though I was exhausted from what we had just done, I was turned on all over again.
I opened my mouth to hers and moaned when her wet tongue lapped against mine.
After two more orgasms and a little bit of relaxation, the water was starting to get cold, so Jax and I decided to get out.
“Bed?” she asked as she handed me a towel.
I laughed. “I’m not sure if my body can handle another round.”
Jax’s lip curled up on one side. “Get your mind out of the gutter. I didn’t say anything about sex. I just want to snuggle naked.”
“Now that sounds perfect.”
We had just gotten under the covers when Jax’s phone started to ring.
“Just ignore that,” Jax said with a yawn.
The only problem was, as soon as hers stopped ringing, mine started. I figured I better check who it was since it was most likely family. My moms called me at least once a day to check in and make sure we were doing okay, but they wouldn’t call twice in a row unless it was an emergency.
When I grabbed my phone and saw who was calling, it made more sense. I held the phone toward Jax. “Olivia.” Since she was calling over FaceTime and I wasn’t wearing any clothes, I didn’t pick up. “I guess we better get dressed and call her back.”
Jax moaned. “I love that girl so much, but she can be such a clam jam sometimes.” She crossed her arms in front of her very perfect chest. “Shirts only. Our legs are covered by the blanket anyway.”
I jumped out of bed and grabbed two shirts, throwing one to Jax and putting the other one on myself.
Once I was back in bed and covered from the waist down, I FaceTimed Olivia.
I held the phone out so both Jax and I were in the frame.
As soon as Olivia picked up, she crinkled her eyebrows and looked back and forth between the two of us, a tiny smirk on her face.
“It’s awfully early to be going to bed, isn’t it? ”
Jax chuckled. “Careful, bestie. Don’t ask questions you don’t want the answers to.”
“Ew. Anyway,” Olivia looked from Jax to me. “I have a question for you.”
“For me? Then why’d you call Jax first?”
“Because I knew you two would be together and she’s much less likely to ignore me.” Olivia pretended she was wiping away tears. “At least, she used to be. That is, before my sister became more important to her.”
Jax chuckled again. “You know you’ll always be my first love. My girlfriend is just so hot.”
When Olivia opened her mouth to argue with Jax, I put my hand up. “Can we skip the whole we come from the same embryo argument this time? I want to know what your question is.”
“Fine. I was just wondering how long ago we graduated from high school.”
I looked toward the ceiling as I did the math in my head. I had no idea why this question was so urgent that Olivia had to call both Jax and me to ask, but whatever. “Thirteen years.”
“Fuck. Why didn’t you tell me?”
What the hell? “Excuse me?” I asked with a laugh.
“I was supposed to plan our ten-year reunion, and I missed it by three years. Do you think I can plan something in time for homecoming next week?”
I laughed even harder now. “Absolutely not. Are you kidding me? Why don’t you just wait two years and do a fifteen-year reunion instead? That gives you a lot of time to plan. Plus, then you’re not planning while pregnant.”
Olivia shook her head back and forth as if that was a crazy thought. “I want to plan it now. I have all of this pent-up energy and I need to let it out.
That’s when it clicked for me. “Oh, I get it. You’re nesting.”
Olivia scrunched up her face. “What the fuck is nesting?”
“It’s a burst of energy you get during pregnancy. For most people, it leads them to deep clean and prepare their house for the baby, but in your case, it looks like it’s coming out in the form of planning a high school reunion.”
Olivia nodded as if she understood. “Cool. So, I’ll plan it for the weekend after Thanksgiving.”
Okay, maybe she doesn’t understand. “Or you could focus on getting the nursery ready in that big old house of yours.”
After getting married, Olivia and Quinton had purchased a large house just a few minutes from my parents’. It was big enough to be their forever home even if they decided to have four kids (which I knew they wouldn’t).
“I already bought everything for it. I’m just waiting for Quinton to put it all together.”
Who is this girl?
“I know what you’re thinking.” Olivia struck a pose with her hand out to the side. “I’m a new woman now that I’m going to be a mother.”
“You’re a new woman now that you’re only working two days a week,” Jax said with a chuckle.
Olivia pretended to brush off her shoulders. “Don’t be jealous that I married a man who just got such a nice promotion that I don't need to work.”
“Trust me, as soon as you say ‘married a man’ all of my jealousy washes away,” Jax teased. “Quinton is my big old snuggly teddy bear, and I adore him, but not enough to make me ever want to marry him.”
“Whatever.” Olivia waved a hand at us. “Anyway, I’m going to plan it for right after Thanksgiving. That way a lot of people will be in the area.”
I pointed between myself and Jax. “We won’t. We are spending that whole weekend with her parents, since we spent last Thanksgiving with our family.”
Thank god. The last thing I wanted to do was attend my high school reunion and spend the night as Olivia and Ronan’s sister, or even worse, Marcie’s ex-girlfriend.
Olivia lifted an eyebrow “What about Grandma? You can’t leave her alone.”
“She’s spending Thanksgiving with Uncle Ethan’s family.”
That was another thing I was very happy about. I loved my grandma, but I was ready for a break. A break in Vermont sounded even better.
Olivia opened her mouth for what I was sure to be another argument, but Jax spoke before she could. “We can definitely make that work.”
“Really?” Olivia squealed at the same time I asked, “What?” in shock.
Because, really, what was she thinking agreeing to this harebrained idea?
Jax looked from the phone over to me and grabbed my hand. “I think we should do it. It’ll be so cool to go to your high school reunion. I have a feeling it’s going to go much better than you expect it to. It will be such a special night. I promise.”
There was a twinkle in her eyes that hadn’t been there a moment before. I wondered why she was so… oh my god. She’s going to propose.
I didn’t see myself as the type of girl to expect a proposal, but this made perfect sense.
Jax and Olivia probably planned this together.
This whole conversation might be a set-up.
All part of Jax’s plan. Maybe there wouldn’t even be a reunion.
Maybe this was all a ploy to get us back home so she could propose in front of my family.
Even though I would be just as happy if she proposed at home in our pajamas, it would be a sweet gesture. Totally Jax.
I tried to shake these thoughts from my head, because I didn’t want to be disappointed if it didn’t happen.
It was going to eventually, and I was fine with that.
Seriously. I wasn’t doubting whether Jax actually wanted to marry me.
Definitely not. There totally wasn’t a voice trying to creep into my head and convince me that maybe she wasn’t as sure about us as I thought she was. That would be crazy.
“Fine. Let’s do it.”
Whether or not I was correct about what was happening, I was determined to make it a great night.
I had come too far to fall back into my old insecurities.
I wouldn’t go in there as Olivia and Ronan’s sister.
I would be Carter Miller-Cooper—confident woman with a super hot girlfriend (maybe fiancée) and an amazing job.
Jax was right. This was going to be a really special night. I’d make sure of it.
