Chapter Six #3
“It’s a pain in the ass, that’s what it is.” The cold anger is back at full speed now.
I let Fly go and sit on the sofa. He unsurprisingly walks back to Marco.
“You are frowning. What is it, Mr. Suit? Another migraine?” My friend runs his fingers through Marco’s hair and starts massaging his scalp.
“No, amore. But don’t stop,” he rumbles contentedly.
Gag. Too sugary for my palate—oh, who am I kidding?
“What is it?” I hear Luca saying.
When I look up, he’s staring at me. That takes me by surprise.
“Oh, nothing. My stomach is burning,” I lie. I don’t want to tell him I’m feeling a little envious of all the intimate moments Fly is exchanging with his beau.
“The pizza will be here soon,” Fly lets me know.
“But I’m craving something else inside me first.” I look up to Luca just as he drops an open bag of Twizzlers on my lap. “I’m so damn horny. If I explode now, all that's going to come out is jizz and more jizz.”
“That’s a very vivid image.” Fly bites his lower lip, mirth dancing in his gray eyes.
“Stop traumatizing…everyone else,” Luca scolds me.
Not him? Interesting.
“You have no fucking filter,” Marco states.
“Tell me something I don’t know,” I retort, biting hard on a red candy. I wish he had some strawberry jam to dip it into. I wish I could dip Luca’s dick into me.
“Luca’s birthday is in two days,” Fly says. My head snaps his way. “What? This is something you didn’t know.”
Luca’s groan is filled with annoyance. I like that.
“How old will you turn, baby boy? A hundred and asshole?” I tease with a devilish smirk.
“Thirty-nine.” Fly gives me more.
“Stop it!” Luca lights a small cigar, giving us his back.
The bastard looks younger, but there’s still quite a gap between us.
That’s not what’s shocking here. Who would have thought that one day I’d be shooting the shit with two of the Leone’s most ruthless bosses?
Technically, they’ve kidnapped me, and I’m forced to stay here—double-technically, I decided to stay put—but still mind-blowing stuff for me.
“Am I going to a party?” I continue to joke. The more Luca’s brows bunch up, the more fun it is.
“He thinks the best present in the world is a full tank of gas and a glass of whiskey. What do you think?” Marco snorts.
Really? I glance at Luca as I munch on the candy. Judging by the little that I’ve seen, I’d say he’d enjoy a more personal present. But what do I know? He’s just my kidnapper.
“That’s enough!” Luca abruptly clips. “The shooting, did you find anything out?”
Marco’s eyebrow kicks up, but he replies to his question. “It seems related to him.” He points at me. Me? Please!
“The real question is, how did they find the safe house?”
“When I left his apartment, I wasn’t tailed,” Luca states. They are talking like I’m not here.
“Carlo would have noticed it.” Marco nods. “There’s more. We’ve had Jack Enzino’s men sniffing around our turf lately.”
Luca’s demeanor changes in a matter of seconds, turning the whole room into a suffocating freezer. “Mario?” he slowly says my brother’s name.
“No.” Marco shakes his head.
Thank God. I let out the air I was holding.
“But as soon as he texts back, we’ll get his location…”
“Fuck!” His fist drops hard on the kitchen island, making me and Fly jump.
“Figlio di puttana! Gli spacco il cranio e ci piscio dentro se solo prova a mettere un piede nella mia città di nuovo. Gli farò rimpiangere il giorno in cui è nato a quel pezzo di merda!”
Marco pats his shoulder before squeezing it and moving him near the window again. Incredibly Luca lets him.
“Mmm, he used every swear word he could, right?” I ask Fly. I know he’s been taking Italian lessons since he got together with Marco. Maybe I should do it as well to enrich my vocabulary.
“Yep,” Fly confirms my statement.
Luca’s hate toward my brother is like a burning star; it won’t stop until Mario’s light dies.
Can I trust Luca to make that happen? I grab another Twizzler as I contemplate.
I hear a phone beeping, and when I see Luca holding my cell in his hand, I know it’s from Mario.
His eyes find mine, rage and resolution burning there. Can he see the dread in mine?
“We are going,” Marco announces. That’s it. No explanation.
Luca disappears into the bedroom. I want to go after him, but the way he looked at me, like I was the enemy, keeps me on the sofa.
“Out where? What about the pizzas?” Fly pouts at him.
He bites my friend’s lower lip and then sucks on it. I don’t look at what else he does because my gaze goes back to Luca as he walks back in the living room, sheathing a big-ass knife.
“I’ll eat a pizza off of your body when we get home,” Marco whispers too loudly for me not to hear.
“Promise?”
“Only if you stay here and don’t go walking around. It’s dangerous out there right now.”
“I have a bodyguard,” Fly reminds him.
“Still dangerous.”
“Dominant males and their overprotectiveness. Yawn,” I state, staring at Luca.
Fly snorts.
“That right, Butterfly?” Marco asks, and they go at it again.
“Is Mario in town?” I ask Luca as he reaches the door.
He turns my way slowly, so slowly it makes me hold my breath. “Try running away again and—”
“I’ll sleep with the fishes.” I nod. “Tell me!”
“Don’t turn me into a third-rate villain,” he growls.
That’s funny. The sudden thought makes me gasp. Do I really think this six-foot-four sadistic giant is funny? No, he’s annoying as shit, still evading my question about Mario. I need to know, the uneasiness is killing me.
“You are a second-rate villain, now answer me.” I look straight at him. The challenging stare loses effectiveness since I’m still confused by my previous funny-related thought.
“You heard me, Enzino.”
“Why would I run away when I hate even getting out of bed?” I tell him, exasperated by his stubbornness. “I deserve to know if he’s here.”
The wacko is looming over me a moment later, big and intimidating.
His hands on the back of the sofa are caging me in.
“You are a revolving door of expressions, but I can read them all.” His green eyes bore into mine.
I can feel them piercing through my skull. It’s unsettling. “Stay. Put,” he rasps.
It’s not safe, his eyes seem to silently add. Mario is in New York. Fuck! Staggering fear is spreading quickly inside my chest, but it’s the overpowering fury inside Luca’s gaze that makes my heart race. It’s burning so strongly I believe it might incinerate him. I…don’t like it.
I grab his tie once again, using it to pull myself up until my lips are an inch from his. I inhale his scent, quickly feeling a little less anxious and a little more annoyed. “I heard jumping from the Empire State Building is fab this time of year, darling. Why don’t you give it a try?”
Boy, I really like the three-day stubble on him and that cleft on his chin.
His eyes clear a little. The corner of his mouth twitches.
Twitches! This close, I see it clearly. An itsy-bitsy smirk.
It disappears in half a second, but it was there.
The sight of it makes me unbelievably proud, and eager to make it happen again. Why? Fuck if I know.
Before I can do anything else, he pulls back, almost dragging me up all the way with him. I let go of his tie and drop my ass back on the sofa’s leather cushion. He straightens his suit and then just walks away. No cuffs?
“Baby, don’t you want to show your friends how kinky you are?” I lift my wrists in the air when he turns to glance at me.
I see his jaw tick as he repeats, “Stay. Put. Enzino.” I give him a military salute.
“It seems there’s another married couple here,” I hear Marco tell him before the front door closes behind them.
Fly lets out a melodic, short laugh. “Marco is right. You do banter like an old married couple. I’m glad.”
“Glad? Pff.”
“Yeah. I was worried he was treating you badly.”
“He did, but since we came here, he just stopped. Kind of,” I tell him.
“Is it true you moved him from a bullet trajectory?” Fly asks, curious.
“Yes. And did he thank me? No.” He’s rejected me too many times to count. Even when his humongous dick was practically kissing my ass!
“Maybe the way he’s treating you now is his way of thanking you.”
I frown at that. Could it be? And I thought I was emotionally constipated.
“He’s still turning me down.” Inner rolling of eyes.
I get to the kitchen island and look inside the bag Fly brought for me until I find the charger.
After sliding my phone out of my panties and hearing his chuckle, I plug it in and check my messages.
Rami’s text makes me release a long, relieved sigh.
Mario’s digital footprints are in Boston.
He attached a grainy pic of my brother sitting in a bar with today’s date on it.
Boston is still too close for my liking, but far from me, thank fuck.
Should I tell Luca about his whereabouts? He must know already. Wait, are they going to Boston? Hopefully, they’ll take care of Mario and then let me go.
My contentment doesn’t last long. Fly decides it’s the perfect moment to drop the bomb. “Well, Luca is bi, so—”
“WHAT?” My scream makes Santo and Carlo barge into the apartment with their guns ready. I have only a second to hide the phone behind my back.
“Everything okay?” Carlo asks, looking around.
“Yeah, sorry, guys.” Fly tries to reassure them with his hands in the air. I raise only one.
“Just to give you the heads-up, there will be more screaming,” I add, before turning to Fly again. “That wacko motherfucker!”
I barely notice when they leave, too fired up by that bi prick.
I thought he blew me off because he was fighting against our overly stiff and repressed societal views regarding sexual orientations.
But now that I know that he’s already dipped his dick in other men’s coochies…
“I wouldn’t let him fuck me with his friend’s dick! ”
“You are lying through your teeth, Art. I saw the way you looked at him.” Fly is smirking at me knowingly.
