Arranged to the California Kingpin
Prologue
Melvin writhe in pain as he laid in a puddle of blood.
Through swollen eyes, he laid eyes on the only woman he tried his hardest to protect.
He simpered lowly and sniffed back dried-up blood as he tried to focus in on his wife whom he succeeded at hiding for the past six years from a woman more powerful than any man or woman in the states.
“You fucked up Mel, just like that nigga Manny fucked up by fucking Gina.” Clapback always liked to compare serious situations to her all-time favorite movie Scarface.
“When my sister gets here, I don’t know how she will go about this shit…
you should beg for mercy and hope that she kills you instantly.
See, I know Sovereign though… she gone do some cold shit like you did to her.
Queen is the coldest bitch known to mankind.
Bitch ain’t got a heart and she thrives off a weak niggas blood.
” Clapback taunted as Melvin released a bowel movement that was too pungent to inhale.
Clapback’s face balled up and she almost stumbled backward to get away from Melvin’s naked body and waste that stained the warehouse’s ground.
“Neeta, please wake up baby.” He could no longer fight back the tears that kept his dry face lubricated.
A vein popped out of his neck as he chewed on his bottom lip.
Grabbing at Neeta’s left ankle, he pulled himself as close as he could and rested his head alongside her.
He could feel movement from her swollen stomach and sadness engulfed him all over again.
His baby was still alive and kicking. He grabbed Neeta’s wrist and a little hope plummeted throughout him.
She had a faint pulse, his stomach dropped at the sound of heels hitting the concrete and heavy footsteps.
He smelled her before he could lay eyes on the devious woman he’d dealt with for the past six years.
“Melvin, Melvin.” Sovereign rocked a permanent glare on her round chubby face.
Her velvety cinnamon skin tone had a permanent glow and was baby-soft to the touch.
Sovereign’s catlike eye shape tightened at the sight before her, and she turned and nodded at the men that flanked her curvaceous sides.
A tall lanky OB-gyn, a friend of the family, gave her a light nervous smile as he rubbed his hands throughout his salt and pepper hair.
He sat his big briefcase down and gave orders to his nurses.
Sovereign’s men got to work as they silently set up a big white folding table in the center of the empty warehouse.
They dragged Neeta’s body away from Melvin’s hands and picked her up laying her on her back for Sovereign’s doctor to start his work.
Sovereign aka Queen had been going hard the past six years, trying to avoid the very thing she never wanted.
She knew sooner or later to be the true Queen of at least five states, she would have to face the woman who took over and raised her and Empress aka Clapback.
Empress was Sovereign’s hard-headed sister.
Since the age of thirteen Sovereign and her sister roamed the streets of L.A trying to survive and duck child services.
Sovereign was mature and smart. At age thirteen she turned heads and had a lot of dope dealers taking advantage, which she knew.
She sacrificed her innocence in order to survive being in the streets which turned her cold.
By the time her grandmother came to the states to look for her and Empress, Sovereign was already turned out and addicted to money; she had a million ways to make and obtain it.
Her Abuela, was a legend, a Queen pin of Mexico.
She ran her cartels and did big business in the state of California.
Miguella was the mother of Miguel, Sovereign’s father.
Of course, she was seeking out revenge in a way that would have multiple cities covered in blood.
She hated the fact that her only son came to California and fell in love with a black chick that was straight from the hood.
To her, Sovereign’s mother was classless and weak.
She wasn’t good enough for her son that held top ranking in her country.
She only started to accept Sovereignty when she became pregnant with Sovereign.
As time went on, Miguella expanded and supplied lots of drugs to the states for Miguel so that he could live in luxury and provide for her grandkids the proper way.
What Sovereign didn’t know was that her Abuela, Miguella was waiting for the perfect time to collect on what was promised to her; an arranged marriage that would connect two powerful families together.
Abuela was getting older and was ready to step down.
The only thing was Sovereign was out of control, leaving home and running into trouble.
At the age of fifteen she was running the streets and paving her own way.
Once she turned eighteen, she had her own crime and drug organization that took over multiple cities.
She fell in love once or so she thought, turned out the man she thought she had fallen hard for was an enemy.
This whole situation would for sure turn her heart colder than Alaska and make her treat the next and every other man with a cold vendetta.
She looked down at Melvin and remembered all the lies he laid up and told her.
She remembered how he was the only one that knew her secret of not being able to conceive.
She desperately wanted to carry a baby for him and start a family.
Late nights to early mornings hustling with Melvin had them growing close.
When she was sixteen, he was the one that saved her from being gang raped by a bunch of older men.
He was the only man that got to see the raw her.
So, his betrayal had anger and hurt that felt like pain running through her veins.
Like the strong woman she remained to be, she stood over him with a blank face.
Her heart thumped in her chest, she wanted to break down, but she would never show her team, including her baby sister an ounce of weakness.
“I got to give you a round of applause Melvin. You had me fooled for the longest. I mean, besides the good head and good dick you coughed up on a regular. I should’ve listened to Clapback’s obnoxious ass and never put you on the team.
I always wondered how Dboi knew about every fuckin’ hit we placed on his operations.
” She paused and shook her head as her right-hand man Peep passed her a lit blunt.
He placed it between her succulent thick lips, and she took a couple of puffs.
Murk’um walked up with black gloves and a big raincoat and assisted her with putting the gloves on while Peep stood close allowing her to hit the blunt to calm her nerves a little.
Bundy, stood back observing, that was something he always did.
He was the extra set of eyes that Sovereign needed to catch things that she didn’t see coming.
Bundy’s love for Sovereign was deep, he couldn’t help himself when it came to Queen.
He loved her strength and the way she was determined to elevate the people around her that pledged loyalty.
If Queen would give him the okay to kill Melvin, a man he never trusted or liked, he would do so without even blinking.
Clapback watched it all unfold and knew her sister needed some sort of deliverance for the dark evil things she did to people for punishment.
She knew her sister better than she knew herself.
Ever since their parents were murdered her sister was the only provider and mother figure she knew of beside her grandmother whom Queen ended up walking away from.
Once Sovereign’s large raincoat concealed her all-white Prada dress she stepped away from the men as Bundy finally stepped out of the shadows, handing her a water hose.
“You fucked up bad Melvin, revenge for me will be sweet.” She looked over at doctor O’Ryan’s handiwork and chuckled. Neeta’s stomach was being cut wide open, she had to be dead by now.
“Roll this bitch nigga over. I want him to look me in my eyes.” She didn’t direct what she said to anyone in particular. She never had to; people knew when she gave a demand their life depended on making it happen at the snap of her fingers.
“You came after me with a vengeance Melvin. You almost succeeded, all those marriage proposals and gifts from my money.” She spat out angrily, they held him up and she gave him a wide smile.
Her hazel brown eyes penetrated Melvin’s soul.
He heard a baby cry out and his heart leaped and then sped up.
Sovereign fought to remain focused, but other thoughts came surging to the forefront of her brain.
The things that Melvin knew about her didn’t sit to well with her.
The love she had for this man, now had her disgusted to her core.
A lot of money was now missing from her, enough money to set her back.
She prided herself with the power she obtained and how much money she made because of her own mastermind.
“I… loved you, Queen.” She looked around and laughed sharply.
He said “Loved” as if she did something to him to make him fall out of love with her.
As if she didn’t give this man her heart and soul only for him to fumble the shit like she meant nothing.
To lie and pretend like she was the right woman for him had her standing above him feeling sick.
She laughed hard and grabbed her stomach and bent over dramatically.
Stomping her stiletto heels into the concrete she laughed for what felt like a long time to Melvin.
Sovereign always appeared deranged; what people didn’t know was that she used laughing as a coping mechanism.
Instead of crying, she laughed hard enough to wipe the tears from her chubby round face.
For years she learned how to mask a lot of things that crushed her on the insides and ate away at what she had left of being kind of normal.
Melvin’s stomach clenched out of fear. In seconds she stood up straight and her face dropped instantly.
She was back with the same hard glare she gave on a day-to-day basis.
Her face was blank and void of any emotions.
That’s the shit that made people nervous about her.
Nobody around her could determine Queen’s mood.
She squeezed the heavy-duty metal nozzle on the water hose and squeezed as the water shot out fast on Melvin’s face.
He choked and panicked; he couldn’t catch his breath as the water hit his face at a rapid pace.
It felt like he was drowning, he didn’t think that Queen had it in her to torture him like she was doing now.
“You love that gorilla looking bitch, huh? Drop that nigga.” She spat and released the nozzle, the water stopped immediately.
Stepping around his bowels, she stood over him.
He offered a haunted facial expression. Dr. O’Ryan walked up with a small bundle of joy wrapped inside of a pink blanket.
He cautiously handed the baby to Queen, and she cradled the baby while smiling down at her.
“Thank you, Melvin.” She beamed at the baby.
I can’t conceive, so I see this as a gift in disguise.
That is the only mercy that I will show…
The woman you love is dead, her stomach is cut open but at least you leave behind a beautiful baby girl.
You thought you had me but Melvin, I had you…
you weren’t shit but a kept nigga, the truth always reveals itself. ”
“You treacherous fat bitch!” Melvin struggled with his words, but they were clear enough for her to know exactly what he had said.
“Yes, that is exactly what I am Melvin. I’m so fucking treacherous, and I won’t stop at you, Melvin.
See, I know now that your father was behind the hit of my mother and father.
I will keep you alive until you sing like a bird.
You will talk Melvin; I know your loyalty is strong for that bitch ass daddy of yours.
Don’t you dare say shit about him being dead, it’s been confirmed the bastard is alive.
You will lead him to me. You will spend, I don’t know a month maybe a year or a decade in this shitty-ass warehouse.
You will be fed through an IV just to keep your ass alive.
Every day you will wake up in pain and go to sleep in pain.
I’m going to make you wish like hell you never tried to play a treacherous game with me.
” She sighed like she was exhausted from talking.
Queen never did much talking; when she did, it was always in short sentences.
“I’ve talked enough now… I need to get my daughter to the hospital.” She rocked the baby in her arms and smiled down at her.
“Murk’um please assist our new guest. Make him feel at home.
” She smiled and walked out with her team behind her.
Clapback stood behind for a while, if Queen was able to see the look on her sister’s face, she would’ve killed her too.
Clapback had a look that showed sad emotions and indecisiveness.
She turned on her heels slowly and went to catch up with Queen, fixing her face and checking her feelings.
