FORTY

Callum

Everything faded away into silence. An invisible snap took over all my senses, like two halves of a bridge finally being rebuilt, and everything was whole again.

She was the only light in the inky blackness around me, shining like a beacon, beckoning me to surrender.

We were eternal, never knowing where one began and one ended, interwoven into each other’s fate.

All my pain and suffering led me here, to her.

I have to believe she knows what I know. How there would be nothing that would keep us apart. Even in death, we would find each other—and in every life after this one.
