25. Kyan
After a busy couple of days tidying the house with Matteo and watching on as Steele reevaluated and got to work on a world class security setup, Kyan was feeling far more relaxed than he had in a long time.
As he stood on the steps outside his townhouse, Kyan turned to his left and saw Mrs. Goldstein approaching, a big smile on her face.
‘I must say, that was a wonderful bunch of flowers I received this morning, Kyan,’ Mrs. Goldstein said, her sweet little dog at her heel.
‘I’m glad you liked them, I picked them out myself,’ Kyan said. ‘And thank you again for how you helped D… I mean, Matteo.’
‘It’s okay, I know he’s your Daddy,’ Mrs. Goldstein replied, a knowing look on her face. ‘I had a wonderful Daddy too. Cameron became my husband, and we lived happily until he passed three years ago. Cherish the time you and Matteo have. You’ve got so many wonderful years ahead of you.’
Kyan was a little taken aback by Mrs. Goldstein’s revelation at first, but it felt great to know that he now had a neighbor who truly knew what it meant to be a Little. As Kyan watched Mrs. Goldstein walk down the block with her happy canine companion by her side, he became conscious that Matteo was standing behind him.
‘We’re lucky to have Mrs. Goldstein as a neighbor,’ Matteo said, his strong hands resting on Kyan’s petit shoulders. ‘I mean… would I be standing here with you today if it wasn’t for her?’
‘I don’t even want to think about it,’ Kyan said, turning to face Matteo. ‘By the way… I never got round to telling you about what happened on the night of all the action.’
‘Oh yes?’ Matteo enquired, arching his eyebrow.
‘Reece and Faustino… there was a spanking,’ Kyan giggled. ‘And I think it was a hard one too!’
‘Faustino kept that very quiet,’ Matteo chuckled. ‘I wonder…’
‘I wonder too…’ Kyan laughed. ‘Whatever will be, will be I suppose. I guess it’s up to them to see if there’s something there. All I know for sure is that I’ve found my perfect Daddy.’
‘Right back at you, my darling boy,’ Matteo smiled. ‘Now, unless I’m very much mistaken we’ve got a flight to catch. That poker tournament isn’t going to win itself, is it?’
‘Ha! I might not win, I’m out of practice,’ Kyan smiled, his heart skipping a beat as the thought of playing a real life poker tournament in Las Vegas set his mind and body alight.
‘Daddy believes in you,’ Matteo smiled. ‘But to be honest, you were winning for fun without me, and you’ll do it again now with me at your side. You’re Kyan Coole, the real Gambit in the pack.’
‘Hey, don’t let Gambit here you say that,’ Kyan giggled.
With that, Kyan and Matteo headed back inside the house to pick up their travel bags and get ready to hit the airport. And while Kyan was ready to show the poker world that he was back, his Daddy Matteo was already working on his next move to secure his status in the Fendi family. And if Kyan had to place a bet on the outcome, he would have said that Matteo might just be about to change the family’s fortunes for the better.
Kyan was used to big stakes, but the biggest win of his life had been meeting his ruthless, stern, and loving Daddy, Matteo – and they were now rightfully taking their place as the Daddy King and Little Queen of the whole damn pack of cards.
And with Benjamin and Reece now involved in the Fendi world too, perhaps there might be more matches on the way too…
