Chapter 7

ALEX

Four fucking hours. Are you kidding me? When was the last time I slept only four hours—and woke up feeling this good?

Never is the answer.

I stretch my arms overhead, muscles pleasantly sore, then crank my head to the side.

Elijah is sprawled out on his stomach beside me, one arm slung across my chest, one leg flung—almost possessively—over mine.

Not gonna lie—it’s a little strange, seeing a hairy leg on top of mine.

Strange… but nice.

It’s the contrast that gets me grinning. His warm, tanned skin against my lighter tone—just like I imagined it would be. Like if you blended us together, you’d get a deep-amber brown. The same rich hue as the bourbon we shared last night.

Shit, that stuff was good.

And so was this guy.

Guy.

Yeah… never thought I’d be swallowing that pill.

But the way he kissed me—attacked my lips with this wild mix of frenzy and affection?

It was exhilarating.

Like heaven and hell knitted together.

I slide my fingers down the length of his spine and lick my lips as they come to rest at the curve of his ass. It’s a nice ass too. Toned. Also… I think that’s a good place for me to stop. For now, anyway.

He stirs, inhaling deeply, dark eyes fluttering open.

“Morning,” I say, watching a slow smile crawl across his handsome face as he finds my eyes.

“Mmm, mornin’, Alex.”

Of course, my dick thinks its name is Alex and perks right up.

Unfuckingreal.

I turn onto my side, and his leg tightens around me, dragging me in closer to his toasty body.

Humming my approval, I slide my hand across his chest. Prickles of hair tickle my palm, and I like that too. I press my lips against his.

“Shower?” I mumble.

“Mmmm,” he purrs. “Sounds like heaven.”
