Chapter 25 #2

“Oh. My. Fucking. God.” Her words were breathless, a husky drawl that was about to drive me crazy. Her chest rose and fell as she raked her hand through her hair. “You are… Fucking amazing.”

With her body shaking, she threw her head back and laughed. I rose to my feet, standing over her and drinking in her sweet scent. The raging scent of someone who knew what kind of effect they had on me.

“We’re not done, Palomino Girl.”

When she pressed her hand against my stomach, the heat brought a laugh from both of us. She was practically on fire.

That was all the incentive I needed. I spun her around, pressing her against the railing.

Immediately, she threw her head over her shoulder, watching me with twisted lips. While she was on her toes, I bent her over the railing, taking my time and rubbing the tip of my cock up and down her slickened pussy lips.

There was no time for talking. I was far too much in need. The moment I drove every inch of my cock inside, she white knuckled the rail.

Her moan was even more bedraggled, pushing me to the point of losing all sense of control. Around her, that could occur every damn day.

Pulling out, I held the tip inside, both of us taking deep breaths. When I drove into her again, she lifted her head, closing her eyes and with the smile on her face, I could tell she was finally letting go.

With her hands firmly gripped around the railing, we rocked together. There was nothing like the feeling of thrusting my cock deep inside.

We were hot and sweaty, incapable of speaking. I was close to being blinded by the raging hunger fueling the moment. I couldn’t care less if anyone walked in. Let them. I’d let her go over eight years before. That was never going to happen again.

Fuck her father.

Fuck her brother.

Fuck all the obstacles.

She. Was. Mine.

The moment I sensed she was close to yet another climax, I pulled her from the railing. Our bodies became molded together, two becoming one. She wrapped one leg around mine, pressing both her hands against my thighs. As we’d done before, we rocked together in a sweet rhythm of continued need.

I’d never thought I’d desire to be close to a woman in all aspects. In friendship and in caring, in passion and in just spending time together. But it was as if what little time I’d had to bond with the beautiful lady, I was the one who felt more complete inside.

The irony and realization were things I’d need to think about later.

But not now.

Now, I was enjoying getting my dick wet as well as satisfying such an incredible woman.

Her soft moans and the way she wiggled in my hold resonated deep within. I closed my eyes, holding her aloft as her pussy muscles clamped around my dick. Only when she was in the throes of ecstasy did I finally let go myself, filling her with my seed.

A single sound grabbed our attention and before she could make a single exclamation, I clamped my hand across her mouth, pulling her into the shadows. Neither one of us moved while hearing footsteps, but I could tell she was ready to burst into laughter.

“Hey, Kenzie. You up there? We need to have a talk about some things. Long overdue.”

Wade’s deep voice resonated in the space.

I pulled her head back gently, willing her to stay quiet with my eyes. She was fighting a fit of giggles. I doubted he would think any of this was comical.

“It’s about Axe. Well, fuck,” he continued. “What are you doing in here all by yourself, girl? Need to get you some food and water.”

The mare snorted in response.

I could feel Kenzie bristling, even struggling to free herself. I held her tightly against me. The last thing any of us needed was a confrontation at this point.

“Let’s get you set up in your stall.”

As Wade moved to another part of the barn, I slowly released my hand, pulling her around to face me.

She started to pull away and I yanked her arm.

“Don’t.” My whisper was harsh.

“He needs to be told to mind his own business.”

Smiling, I brushed hair from her face. “All in due time, Palomino Girl. I don’t think now is the time.” I glanced down at my naked appearance, nodding toward the stairs since some clothes had been tossed to the floor downstairs.

“Oh, shit.” She slapped her hand across her mouth, her exclamation loud enough I pulled us further into the shadows.

Thankfully, it seemed Wade hadn’t heard.

In the waning shadows, I continued studying her beautiful face, realizing the lengths I’d go to so she could be happy.

The wait was arduous, but he finally left the barn. After moving a chair closer to the window, I was able to watch as he walked away, disappearing toward the house. Thank God, I’d parked my truck on one of the off roads normally those making deliveries used.

When I stood in front of her again, we both remained silent. Perhaps saying anything at this point was difficult.

“Are you going to come to meet the city council with me? I made an appointment for tomorrow. If I can’t get a temporary occupancy approval at minimum, then the rodeo is off. That requires the council’s final stamp of approval.”

“What are you thinking?”

“They’re holding it over my dad’s head. What I need to figure out is why.”

I thought about her request, rubbing my jaw. “We’ll meet there, but you’re not going to do anything dangerous. Okay?”

“Dangerous? How could talking with them be dangerous?”

“Because of the two suspicious fires. People with a lot to lose will go to great lengths to keep that from occurring.” I could tell her wheels were turning. What in the hell was she up to?

“I don’t plan on doing anything stupid. I just want to feel them out and try and encourage them to move forward.

” She glanced toward the railing, the slight smile she offered almost as if the moment shared was still considered forbidden.

The awkwardness was as tenacious as before.

“What are the odds Wade noticed your shirt?” Her giggle brought a smile, but I was sensed she was deflecting.

Chuckling, I glanced toward the window. “Too many shadows in the barn. Speaking of which, I should get going.” Only I didn’t move.

I wasn’t certain if I was hoping she’d ask me to stay or not.

I’d taken a risk coming here in the first place.

Honestly, I’d done so based on the same damn rebellious streak I’d had as a kid.

Funny how certain things never changed.

“Yeah, I get it.” She backed away, sidestepping me so she could grab her clothes. “I’m glad you’re going to be a part of the rodeo.”

“You’re sure you want to do this?”

“You know what’s funny? I learned some things about my father I didn’t know, including that he was forced to wait for my mother for years.

She went off to college. I guess she was involved with another man at some point.

But my father of all people waited. He loved her that much.

There is such a thing as love at first sight. ”

I wasn’t certain why she was sharing the information, but I could tell the discovery meant a lot to her.

I also knew how worried she was. I knew enough people in the building community and rumors always flew about proposed projects, even while in the earliest stages.

That’s how prime the real estate in Missoula was.

There’d also been acts of arson before, two I’d handled as a firefighter.

Both had involved insurance fraud. But what I had to keep asking myself was if her father was involved in some scheme, why would he ask for her help? To manipulate her? I wouldn’t put it past him.

“I guess there is also such a thing as eternal love.” As soon as I made the statement, a light sparked in her eyes.

“Eternal love.” As soon as she turned on a light, another even stranger moment of awkwardness settled in, her eyes locked on mine. She laughed more to herself, turning around to dress.

I concentrated on dressing, wondering why in being around her there was passion then there was tension.

“What time for the meeting?” I asked after finishing.

“One-thirty.”

Sighing, I nodded, waiting to see what she’d do. When she remained where she was, I was forced to realize the awkwardness between us had everything to do with her family. “You know, we could go out on a real date some time.”

She laughed softly, the sound fighting with the common sense of knowing I needed to leave so as to not make her family life any more difficult than it already was.

“Yeah, we could. I just need to figure out if this crazy plan is a possibility. Then I can free some time.”

Nodding, I took a few seconds, still wishing I knew the right thing to say to her.

“I get it. But I’ll see you tomorrow afternoon.

Maybe we can grab a cup of coffee or a drink afterwards.

I mean, I need to provide you a list of names of the guys I talked to.

I’ll put it together with their contact information. ”

“I’d like that. Then maybe you can steer me in the right path of hiring photographers. Then there’s the artwork that needs to be designed for social media. I’ll need to contact the local radio and television stations and…”

“Breathe, Palomino Girl. I won’t allow you to do this all by yourself.”

Her expression of relief grabbed at my very soul.

“I need all the help I can get.”

My cock ached all over again as she shifted a strand of hair behind her ear.

Another hesitation and it was all I could do not to scoop her into my arms. Why in the hell was I now tongue tied?

“Good.” My fucking God. My hands were clammy. It was like I was in my twenties all over again. With a snort, I headed down the ladder, grabbing my shirt, yanking it on as I walked to the barn door.

Just before I walked outside, I tipped my head toward the loft.

She wasn’t watching.
