Chapter Five #3

I moaned into his mouth, Ronan still coming when I followed him over the edge.

The pleasure was blinding and my hand tightened around his throat, thrilled by the way his Adam’s apple bobbed beneath my hold.

My climax seemed never ending, and by the time it finally began to recede, all strength left me and I flopped down heavily on top of Ronan.

We each lay still for a long moment, sweaty bodies entangled in one another, breaths heaving and hearts thundering as we came back down to earth.

Ronan was first to speak. “J-Jaysus Christ…”

“Y’can feckin’ say that again,” I muttered, voice muffled where I’d buried my face into the crook of Ronan’s neck.

“Okay – Jaysus Christ.”

A low chuckle escaped me and on shaking arms I managed to push myself up long enough to slip my softening cock out of Ronan as I rolled over to flop down on my back beside him.

My eyes were drawn to him, and I allowed myself a moment to just look, taking everything in.

I’d meant what I’d said – Ronan was pretty, and even deep in the trenches of post-nut clarity, I still fancied the fuck out of him.

That spoke more of my powerful attraction to him than words ever could.

Sensing my gaze, Ronan turned to look at me.

He frowned even as a sexy smile worked itself onto his face.

“Whats that goofy feckin’ face about, y’melter?”

I smirked. “Ah, nothin’, now. Just feckin’ buzzin’ ta be here givin’ ya handsome wee feckin’ arse a goin’ over again, like.”

This time of was Ronan’s turn to laugh. “Aye, an’ what a goin’ over it was, eh? Feck me. I’m still shakin’, like.”

There was a moment of silence as we stared at one another before moving in unison. Ronan kissed me and I allowed it, melting against him a little before roughly pulling away.

“Y’think ya’d get away wi’ stayin’ here tonight?” I whispered. “No bother if it’s easier ta head on home, like.”

Ronan’s eyes flitted over my face. “Nah. Darragh an’ Ma won’t be breathin’ a word about it, now. We’re grand.”

To my surprise, the warmth of happiness bloomed in my chest, though I forced myself to feign indifference. “Sound. Y’want a wee drink? I’m feckin’ thirsty as all hell.”

“Thought ya’d never ask, fella.”

Ronan and I stayed awake chatting in bed together for hours.

I didn’t remember falling asleep, but when I cracked open my eyes, the early morning sun was glowing through the open curtains that I’d forgotten to draw last night.

I squinted, rolling over and coming face to face with a still-sleeping Ronan. He’d stayed.

There wasn’t a chance on this earth I was keeping my hands off him. I shuffled my body in close to his, trailing my hands all over his tattooed skin. At first there was no response, but when Ronan sighed with a low, pleasured grumble, I knew I’d managed to rouse him from sleep.

“Mornin’.” I grinned.

“Aye,” he replied, his voice cracking, still thick from sleep. “Startin’ out a good one so far, like.”

I chuckled, easing back just enough to let Ronan roll himself over to face me.

I ignored the flare of panic that hit me as he leant in and I let him kiss me.

Just like the night before, the intensity of it rocked me, driving a wrecking ball through my reservations.

When Ronan opened his mouth, inviting a deeper kiss, I was helpless but to give him what he wanted.

It was maddening how good this felt, natural, like it was meant to be.

Shite – since when had I become a feckin’ soppy twat?

“What’s the time, now?” Ronan asked between kisses, already breathless as that incredible magnetism kicked in between us.

“Dunno,” I muttered. “Don’t care, neither.” I delved my tongue into his mouth, making him groan. The noise of it shot straight to my dick, already hard and primed for another round.

“Hold up, aye?” Ronan gasped, squirming away from me. “Need ta check the time.”

With a grumble, I reluctantly let him slip from my arms but not before noticing that I wasn’t the only one that had been enjoying our early morning roll about.

He was still naked from the night before and I eyed Ronan’s body greedily, palming my cock beneath the covers, as he shuffled to the end of the bed and snatched up his jeans from the floor.

Checking his pockets, he eventually located his phone.

He tapped the screen to wake it up and groaned, head falling back.

“I gotta go.”

I scowled. “Like feck y’do.”

Ronan got to his feet before I could make a grab for him. He smirked at me, tugging his boxers back on.

“Me ma and Darragh’d be wonderin’ where I’d got ta,” he said. “I never miss me breakfast, like. Y’want ‘em askin’ questions, aye?”

At that, I laughed and scrubbed a hand down my face. “A’right, fine, but I’d be seein’ ya later, aye?”

The smile Ronan cast me made my stomach turn over. He leant in over the bed, resting his weight in his arms to kiss me.

“Aye, f’sure. Y’got much on f’the day yourself?” He got up and hopped into his jeans before fastening the waistband.

“Dunno, like. Suppose I’d best be checkin’ in wi’ Dec. Make sure he’d not drowned, face down in his wee buffer’s pussy.”

Ronan laughed. “Sounds like a way ta go.”

I met his eye, holding it for a moment. “Can think o’ better, now.”

“Charmer.” Ronan dragged his t-shirt on over his head. “Gimme y’number. I’ll catch up wi’ Darragh an’ find out whats on the cards an’ drop ya a wee message, aye?”

His phone was thrown to me and I caught it, opening up the contacts to type in my mobile number. I saved my details under the name ‘Top Ride’ and closed it down, fighting a smirk as I handed the phone back. I’d let Ronan discover that one later.

“Sound, thanks fella.” He pointed a finger at me. “Ya’d best be behavin’ yourself ‘til later, y’hear?”

I couldn’t have grinned wider if I’d tried, tucking my arms behind my head. “Ah, not sure I’d be makin’ any promises, like.”

Ronan simply shook his head with exasperation before clambering over the bed to kiss me.

I grasped him by the nape, preventing him from pulling away as I returned it passionately.

Another of those soft fucking moans that drove me wild slipped from him and it took all I had not to drag him down into the bed beside me.

Ronan eventually pulled away and with one last chaste kiss, he got back to his feet.

“Catch ya in a wee while, like.”

“Already lookin’ forward ta it.”

Though he smiled, Ronan flipped me off before disappearing out of the door and I chuckled.

Alone once more, I released a heavy sigh and stared up at the ceiling.

Fuck. I’d broken all of my rules with Ronan.

What did that mean for us now? What we had couldn’t last, both of us only in town for the fair.

After the weekend was done, he’d be heading off one way and me the other.

Just thinking about it had my chest aching, though I’d never had admitted it out loud.

A loud knock at the door made me jump, instantly snapping out of my thoughts. I frowned with a smile. Ronan had only been gone two minutes. Had he forgotten something?

I dragged myself up out of my bed, pausing only to hastily step into my boxers before swinging the door open. It wasn’t Ronan, but Declan. My palms grew sweaty. He must have only missed Ronan leaving here this morning by minutes…

“Feckin’ hell, is it not yourself. I’d be startin’ ta forget what ya look like,” I teased, brazening out my nerves.

Declan grinned up at me. “Aye, well I’d be havin’ better things ta do than hang ‘bout wi’ y’ugly mug, now.” His eyes dropped to my attire. “Y’mind slingin’ some clothes on there, fella? Too early ta be face ta face wi’ y’wee mickey, aye?”

I laughed, stepping away from the door. “Y’comin’ in?”

Declan clambered up into the caravan behind me, and I scooped my clothes up from the floor as I passed. With my back to him, I dressed, uncaring that they were the same clothes I’d worn the day before.

“Aye, ya’d be gettin’ the ride in last night?”

I stilled, my heart leaping up into my throat. “Whatcha talkin’?”

When I turned to face Declan, my friend jerked his head, and I followed the direction of the gesture. The lube and condoms from last night were still sitting on the side, including the torn-up wrapper from the one I’d used. Fuck.

“Nah,” I replied stiffly. “Left out from the wee buffer girl, like.”

“Tess’s mate, aye?”

I gave him a non-committal shrug, praying he didn’t ask any more questions. Thankfully, Declan’s narcissism won over.

“Y’good if I ditch ya today, aye?”

I cocked a brow. “Tess again?”

It was almost unheard of that Declan actively made an effort to spend time with a girl after he’d gotten what he wanted from her, especially a wee settled. I’d never seen my mate like this and as he scratched the back of his head, Declan Furey almost looked sheepish.

“Aye, thought I’d take her back ta the fair, like.”

“Like a wee date, aye?” I teased, laughing when Declan scowled.

“Feck off, y’feckin’ melter. She’s a craic’er wee ride, is all,” he snapped, bristling with embarrassment.

“A’right, don’t be ateing me head off, now,” I said, still smirking. “Aye, I’d be fine entertaining meself. Enjoy ya day with y’wee buffer.”

Declan grinned at me, punching me playfully in the arm. “Quality, thanks fella.” He turned to leave, hesitating before jumping down out of the open door. “Don’t ya go doin’ anythin’ I wouldn’t do, now.”

I chuckled. “A short list, eh fella?”

“Doncha know it. Catch ya later, like.” Declan disappeared from view.

“Aye, see ya.”

The caravan door slammed shut, leaving me alone with my thoughts once again.

My eyes were drawn to the evidence from last night and I scowled, snatching up the lube and johnnies and dropping them back into their drawer.

Fucking hell. I was usually much smarter than that.

I’d been covering my tracks for years without any slip ups and Declan had almost rumbled me twice this morning.

I needed to keep my eye on the ball and be less distracted by Ronan’s balls.

“Feckin’ hell,” I sighed under my breath. I needed a cold shower.

The day passed in much the same way as the ones that had come before it. After I’d showered and tidied up my gaff, I’d taken a wee stroll over to Seamus’s place. We’d had a good laugh at Declan’s expense, ripping on him for being so wrapped up in his settled girl.

As it turned out, he and Darragh had struck out with Pearl and her mates last night – not that I was surprised in the least. Pearl had it bad for Declan, that was clear to everyone.

It was probably just as well he wasn’t particularly interested her because she had the same dangerously obsessive tendencies as Declan himself did.

I dreaded to think what trouble they’d get themselves into together – both dead or inside within a year, I’d reckon.

When Seamus had invited me out tomcatting in town yet again, I made my excuses.

I subtly shifted his attention to Darragh, suggesting maybe he’d be up for it, all the while knowing if Darragh was kept occupied, Ronan and I were free to do what we wanted.

I certainly knew what I wanted to be doing tonight.

After saying my farewells to Seamus and grabbing a burger from a BBQ as I passed, I headed home. It was a craic’er day – hot without a cloud to be seen, and I settled down in the sun to eat my lunch alone.

It was strange not having Declan around.

We’d spent every day together for as long as I could recall, either larking about or working.

It occurred to me that this was what my life would be like if Declan ever got around to marrying a girl and settling down.

He wouldn’t be hanging around with my arse day in day out when he had a wee wife and a bunch of wains.

And what about me? Was that in my future?

I wasn’t sure. Declan and I were already pushing the limits of what was ‘normal’ convention within traveller culture.

Both of us were on the cusp of our thirties now and some of the older generation had begun asking questions about us not being settled down with families.

Whilst Declan wasn’t in a rush to be tied down, I was sure he eventually wanted that life for himself, but me?

Sure, a wife and family would certainly provide me even better camouflage, but I wasn’t a cheater.

Giving up feeling the way I did with Ronan for a lifetime of bland, unemotional connection turned my stomach.

My phone buzzed in my pocket, and I lifted my hips to slide it free before reading a message from an unknown contact.

UNKNOWN: Top Ride?

I laughed to myself, a wide grin on my face. Ronan had discovered my little joke.

JOHN-FRANCIS: It’s the truth, ain’t it?

There was a pause before I saw three dots jumping back and forth on the screen as Ronan replied.

RONAN: Fair. Can’t argue with that, like. Darragh tells me he and Seamus are out on the pull tonight.

JOHN-FRANCIS: I may have suggested that he give him a wee call. Darragh is up for it, then?

RONAN: Like a dog with two dicks. Guess that leaves us free to do what we like, aye?

Excitement was already burning in my chest, lips curled into a smirk. I genuinely couldn’t wait, and I couldn’t even bring myself to be embarrassed about it.

JOHN-FRANCIS: Looks like. Gimme a wee knock once Darragh’s off out?

RONAN: Done. See ya in a wee while, Top Ride.

I chuckled again, tucking my phone away and sinking my teeth into my burger as I stared up into the vast expanse of blue sky above my head. Yep – another craic’er day, that was for certain.
