Chapter 6

Charlie

“Get it, girl!” Chase shouted at Lila. “Damn, I’m the luckiest man in the world.”

I stood there and watched Marley dance around the room. My cock was twitching and aching to be inside her. That body of hers was enticing, and with any luck, she’d be in my bed all night, letting me do very bad things to her. I was feeling the effects of all the alcohol I’d drunk throughout the night. I never was one to mix alcohol, but tonight I did.

The song ended, and Lila fell into Chase’s arms.

“Take me home and take me to bed, you sexy knight.” She drunkenly smiled at Chase.

“It’s been fun, Charlie, but I have to go.” Chase grinned, swooping Lila up in his arms. “I’ll talk to you tomorrow. Ladies, it was great fun meeting all of you.”

“Night, Chase,” Marley said.

“I guess we better go,” Olivia said.

“Can I call you a cab?” I asked.

“Nah, we just live around the block. I need the fresh air,” Penelope said.

I reached over and grabbed Marley’s hand. “I want you to stay.”

Her beautiful eyes stared into mine. “Uh?—”

“She’s on a sex hiatus,” Penelope blurted out. “Come on, Mar.”

“A sex hiatus?” I cocked my head at her. “Since when?”

“Since Trent in Chicago,” Marley spoke with seriousness.

“You mean Troy.” I chuckled.

“Right.” She held up her finger. “I think I’ll stay for a while. I’ll see you girls later.”

“You have to be up early tomorrow morning,” Penelope said. “And as your besties, we?—”

“Leave her alone,” Olivia hooked her arm around Penelope. “If she wants to stay, let her stay. Fuck her hiatus. Don’t be stumbling through the door and waking our asses up.” Olivia pointed at her.

“I’ll make sure she gets home safely,” I said. “Goodnight, ladies. Those are some great friends you have there.”

“Yeah. They’re the best. How about another shot of tequila?”

“Are you sure?” I asked.

“Yep. One hundred percent.” A beautiful grin crossed her face.

I poured us another shot. That last one did me in. I couldn’t remember the last time I was this drunk.

I gripped Marley’s hips and lifted her up on the island. Her legs wrapped around my waist.

“The things I want to do to you,” I said, staring into her eyes.

“The things I want you to do to me.” She drunkenly smiled.

I couldn’t resist her anymore. Smashing my mouth into hers, our kiss was wild. My hand traveled up her dress until my fingers reached the edge of her panties.

“Fuck,” I moaned, dipping a finger inside.

“Bed. Bed. I need to lay down,” she said.

I lifted her from the island, carried her to my bedroom, and lay her down.

Marley

Opening my eyes, everything was blurry, and my head was pounding out of control. Glancing over, I saw him lying there, on his stomach, with his muscular back exposed and the sheet covering half of his perfect ass.

“Oh, fuck!” I quickly sat up and covered myself with the sheet.

Charlie moaned, rolling over and opening his eyes.

“Good morning.”

“Did we?” I stared at him, but I already knew the answer.

“Multiple times.” A sly grin crossed his lips.

I glanced at the clock, and it was eleven-thirty. “Oh shit!” I jumped out of bed.

“What’s wrong?”

“It’s eleven thirty. I have to go.” I grabbed my panties from the floor.

“Why?” Charlie asked.

“I have a lot of things to do today. Oh my God. I can’t believe I slept this late.” I grabbed my dress and slipped it on.

“Marley—”

“Don’t.” I pointed at him. “Don’t make this weird, Charlie.”

He chuckled.

“What is so funny?” I asked, running into the bathroom to check out how much of a disaster I looked like. I grabbed his hairbrush from the counter and ran it through my hair.

“The fact that you remembered my name.”

“You’re a jerk.” I pointed at him as he lay there smiling.

I ran to the living room and grabbed my heels while Charlie followed.

“Can I at least make you a cup of coffee before you sprint out of here?”

“No! It was just sex. Don’t make it weird.”

“I’m not.” His brows furrowed.

“Yes. Yes, you are.” I pushed the elevator button.

“Marley, you’re forgetting something.”

I turned and saw Charlie holding up my purse.

“Ugh. Thanks.” I grabbed it from him and stepped into the elevator.

“I’ll see you around sometime,” he said as the doors closed.

I raced out of the building, holding my shoes in one hand and holding the other up, yelling for a taxi. When one finally stopped, I climbed into the back, and the driver stared at me.

“Rough night?”

“None of your business.” I gave him the address to where I needed to be. “I need you to step on it, please.”

Pulling out my phone, I Facetimed Olivia.

“Good lord, Marley.” Penelope’s face appeared.

“Is that her?” I heard Olivia’s voice in the distance.

“I thought you were coming home last night?” Penelope said.

“I don’t really remember last night. I woke up in Charlie’s bed at eleven thirty.”

Olivia grabbed the phone, and her face appeared on the screen.

“You’re actually going out in public looking like that. You look like you’ve been fucked senseless and every which way.”

“Shh!” I said, looking up and noting the cab driver staring at me through the rearview mirror. “I’m only calling because I didn’t want you two to worry.”

“Oh, we weren’t worried. We knew you were in good hands with Charlie McBillionaire.” Olivia smirked.

“So tell us.” Penelope smiled. “How were his hands all over your body?”

“Goodbye!” I ended the call.

I pulled the compact from my purse and tried to wipe the mascara stains from under my eyes.

The cab driver pulled up to the curb of the florist.

“Please, wait for me. I won’t be long.” I opened the door.

“It’s your money.” He smiled.

The bell above the door, which I always thought was so cute, annoyed the hell out of me today. Stepping inside the shop, I looked around for Miguel.

“You’re late, Marley. Oh, my. What is this?” Miguel walked over and studied me, bringing his finger to his lips.

“Do not, and I mean, do not judge me.” I pointed at him.

“I’ve never seen you look like such a hot mess before,” he said, hooking his arm around mine. “Do tell me what happened last night. Because judging by this look, you had a wild time.”

“I drank too much, slept with a billionaire, and woke up late. Now that you have all the details, show me the arrangements.”

“You’re going to love them.” He grinned. “Come in the back.”

I stared at the centerpieces, which were little pink tutus made of tulle, with pink and white roses in the center and sprigs of baby’s breath.

“Adorable.” I smiled. “Mrs. Lake will love them. Make sure they’re delivered to the house tomorrow at nine a.m.”

“Delivery is already set up, darling. Now, tell me about this billionaire you bedded last night.” A sly grin crossed his face.
