47. Baby

BABY

“So, she finally told him?” I sat on the bed while Jayda straightened my hair. She was just telling me about her conversation with Tiffani.

“Yep! Bitch, we tried to three-way you in.” I nodded. I saw that, but I was so worried about Love being in danger, I didn’t pick up.

“I know. What did he say? I’m not sure what my reaction would’ve been, you know I’m petty as hell,” I reminded her, feeling her hand running through my hair.

“She said he was calm. Told her it was all in the past now.” That surprised me, I would have showed my whole ass.

“Girl, for real? I see why she loves him,” I commended.

“Well, he told her because he’s Love’s brother, he’ll still help him.” She turned my head to another angle. “He a real nigga for that one.”

Silence filled the room.

“I’m so nervous about this date,” I admitted, watching her through the reflection in the wall mirror.

“You look good. He won’t be able to keep his hands off you,” she said with a smile.

That’s what I'm hoping for. I got this two-piece from Forever 21. It was a wrap-around halter top, and matching skirt with a slit in the middle that went down to my knees. It’s perfect for a date.

“That’s the goal.”

She hit the side of my head. “Ohh. You nasty.”

“Whatever. So, what about you and Messiah?” Picking up the comb from the bed, she cut her eyes up to me.

“I called him after breaking up with Kai last night.”

Finally! Took her ass thirty years to break up with that nigga. I was waiting patiently for her to elaborate on the phone call, but when she didn’t, I raised both eyebrows.

“And?”

“We’ll try again,” she elaborated, and I was happy as hell.

“YES GIRL!” I shouted, tryna give her a high five.

She sucked her teeth, moving my hand. “Hoe, calm down before I burn you with this damn flat iron.”

I twisted back around to the front, tryna stay still. “Why you don’t seem happy?”

She shrugged. “I am, and that’s what I'm scared of. I don’t wanna get my hopes up again.”

Understandable.

Everything seemed to be coming together. I had my favorite cousin with her man, and I had whatever you wanna call it with Love. Lauren out of the picture, Leah tryna get her life right. I just wanted to enjoy these moments while I had them. Who knew what shit was gone hit the fan next?

“Alright, I’m done.” I got up and stretched my legs, walking closer to the mirror. The hair Tiffani be selling at her shop last long as hell. This still looked new.

“Thank you, Jay. Y’all going to eat without me?” I asked, putting on my gold wedges.

She took a seat on the edge of my bed. “Probably not. Tiff needs to be with her man right now and, since you finna go out with yours, I might as well see where mine at.”

“You taking Leah back to your house?” Auntie told her to take a nap in her old room because she kept yawning while we were in the living room talking.

“No, she leaving from here.” Swallowing deeply, I sprayed perfume on my wrist. “That’s cool, right?”

I’m not sure it really matters what I think, I thought to myself, sitting down in the chair to rub lotion on. Auntie’s home now, and she’ll probably wanna take her to the airport. Other people didn’t have to cut her off, just because I had my issues with her.

“Yeah, it’s okay. She’s leaving tomorrow,” I paused with the bottle in my hand. “Did Tranae come home last night?” She was strolling on her phone but stopped to glance over at me.

“Nope! She probably with him.” By him, she meant T.K. It fucked me up hearing how her friends did my sister, and if you asked me, that was already planned out before they even got in the house.

Think about it, they just started to mess with her out of nowhere? Tranae had to tell them to do that, probably just wanted to get my sister out of the picture, so she could have T.K. for herself.

“This is just too damn messy for me.” I grabbed my phone from the dresser. “Let me go.”

“Have fun, boo.” She gave me a smile, as I walked out of the room.

At first, I was confused hearing laughter down the hallway. But then, I realized I left Love in the living room with my half-drunk ass auntie. She probably talking him to death. Both of their heads turned towards me in sync when I came into view.

“Baby, you look fine like this wine, girl.” She held it up for me to see the glass half full. “Don’t make Auntie jealous now. I’mma have to go in the closet for my good stuff.”

I rolled my eyes. Love stood up to come over to me. Butterflies went crazy in my stomach the closer he came. I got a whiff of the cologne I loved so much when he leaned in to kiss my cheek. My eyes fluttered closed when he didn’t immediately pull away, his mouth trailing all the way to my ear.

“You so damn beautiful,” he whispered, his voice raw with emotion. “You making it real hard for me to act like I got some sense.”

I giggled shyly, swallowing around the lump in my throat.

“You ready?” he asked, licking his lips.

“Yes,” I answered, and took his hand, speed walking to the front door. “Bye Auntie.”

I waved in passing, and Love found my eagerness funny. I could hear him laughing behind me.

“Well damn, Baby. You gone break his arm off.” My auntie had to add one more thing before I left. I didn’t even dignify that with a response. Nobody understood how long I wanted this man to fuck me.

“So, where we going?” I asked, letting go of his hand when he opened the passenger door for me.

“Somewhere nice.” He smiled and pecked my lips while leaning over to buckle my seatbelt. I could’ve done that, but I’d never complain about him being close. He could buckle my belt any day.

“One of them is your place, right?” I was being thirsty as hell, but I ain’t care one bit.

He laughed out loud. “I’m not sure if I’m scared or flattered that you want me so bad.”

Could he blame me? We’d tiptoed around our attraction for years. I was offended he’s moving so damn slow. He must’ve taken my silence as embarrassment when he clicked me in place, then brought his hand up to cup the back of my neck.

“The feeling’s mutual.” He sealed his words with a soft kiss. I didn’t want him to stop, but when I tried to deepen it, he pulled away like he did the last time.

“Let me feed you food first.” He kissed me again.

“Then, I’ll feed you something else.” This time I took charge, breaking the distance between us. I sucked his bottom lip in my mouth, hearing him groan in the back of his throat. I’d never been so damn horny.

“I’m ready,” I breathed out, tryna regain my composure. I didn’t care about the food but, the quicker we ate, the quicker I could get what I really wanted.

He moved to his side of the car, adjusting himself in his pants. I wanted to climb over the console, but I stayed in my seat, watching him back outta the driveway. I’m not sure how I’d survive the rest of the night without jumping his bones, but I’ll try.

Extending my arms, I put my hand on his leg as he drove. At this point, I’d take any skin contact with him I could get. He picked my hand up and brought it to his mouth for a kiss.

When he put it back down, I zoomed in on his bruised knuckles. “What happened to your hand?”

Doing a double take, he glanced at me with confusion. “Oh, that ain’t nothing. I beat T. K’s ass.”

I didn’t think it was possible but hearing that made me want him more.
