18. Chapter Eighteen

Evan
Even after the events of tonight, this is all I could think about — getting Mia alone in my room so that I could show her exactly how much I want her. Having her once tonight wasn’t enough, I want to taste her arousal.
Her body shivers as I glide my hands freely over her smooth skin, and my length hardens with her response.
I’m about to pull the panties from her waist and leave bare in front of me, when there’s a quick knock on my door and Carmen’s voice echoes from the other side. “Evan, is Mia in there with you?”
Mia’s eyes widen when the knob turns, even though I knew better than to keep it unlocked, and I jump from my place in front of her. Carmen’s got her hands placed on her hips, an eyebrow cocked to the top of her forehead damn near, and she’s tapping her foot impatiently.
“Should I know something?”
I swallow thickly and shake my head, then run a hand along the nape of my neck nervously. “No, Carmen, Mia and I are just going over some things to try and figure out who this stalker could be.”
She doesn’t look convinced, trying to look over my shoulder and get a peek inside, but eventually gives up because I’m much taller than her. “Fine, let me know what you guys come up with.”
Carmen looks like she wants to come into the room, but she only shakes her head then makes her way back down the hall with her shoulders tense.
When I push back into the room, locking the door once again, my mouth falls open at the sight before me in the middle of my bed. Mia’s already got her panties off, tossed somewhere haphazardly in my room, and she’s spread her legs wide enough that I see her arousal glistening from my place across the room.
I growl low in my throat, and when she raises her hand up to grab one large breast that’s when I notice she pulled her bra off as well. The way the light from the bathroom shines on her bare frame is enough to drive me wild with need as if I didn’t have more than enough of that flowing through me already.
She watches me carefully as I take tentative steps closer to her, situating myself between her toned thighs, and her breath hitches when I drop down to glide my tongue over her swollen clit. Her breath hitches, her legs curling around my back on instinct, and her fingers grip the strands of my hair.
My movements are frantic, her hips rocking into me and meeting my tongue with each flick over her sensitive bud. Mia’s breathing increases, and I glance up, the blood in my veins going straight to my cock as I notice she’s rolling her nipple between her fingers with her mouth popped open. I reach up with one hand, curling a thick digit into her entrance, and she gasps at the invasion.
“God, the sounds you make are driving me crazy,” I grind out against her skin while thrusting my finger in and out of her.
Mia only responds with a soft moan, doing her best not to draw attention to what we’re doing inside if someone were to come up to my door. I only wish she could be louder. She tightens her legs around me, pressing them into my neck to make sure I’m not going anywhere, and I hum in agreement.
As long as she’s spread like this for me, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be than with my face pressed between her pretty thighs. Her walls clench around my finger, hips moving as she grinds herself against my tongue, and I can tell by her ragged breaths that she’s getting close to the edge.
I place my hands at the back of her thighs, pushing them back and lifting her ass in the air slightly, then devour her like it’s the last meal I’m ever going to have again. She claps a hand over her mouth, muffling the sound of her moan as her release bursts through her and even muffled the sound is like nothing I’ve ever heard before.
It’s something I could listen to all night long.
When she comes down from the high, her legs sag from my back and land on the mattress on either side of me. She’s breathing heavily, a soft whimper slipping from between her lips as I pull my finger out of her entrance slowly, then I lift from between her thighs and head into the bathroom.
Mia’s curled onto her side when I get back into the bedroom with a warm cloth, and she jumps when I wipe it against her to clean up the mess we made. For a moment, I pull her against my side and run my fingers gently through her hair with a small smile on my face.
If only she could stay in bed with me.
As if sensing where my head is, Mia lifts from her place at my side and sighs heavily before sitting at the edge of the bed in search of her clothes. If I hadn’t told Carmen she was going to be stationed outside my door, there is no doubt that she’d be wrapped safely in my arms tonight. I lift up, watching her with emotions in my gaze, and she glances at me with a smile tilting at the corners of her mouth.
“What?”
I reach forward, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, then drag my knuckles down her cheek and shake my head. “Nothing, you’re just beautiful.”
Her cheeks heat at the compliment, and then she pushes from the bed and grabs the panties she tossed across the room. Once she’s got her clothes back on, making sure they aren’t wrinkled, she pulls her hair into a tight ponytail. I lift a finger, crooking it for her to come over to me, and she does without complaint.
She stops in front of me, blinking, and I reach out to pull her closer. I press my face into the curve of her neck, inhaling, then look up and press my lips softly against hers. “Go ahead, get out of here before Carmen suspects something.”
Mia pushes away from me, her eyes darting to the empty side of the bed, and there’s a flash of disappointment in her eyes before she walks to my door. Once she disappears outside, I quickly try to come up with a way that she and I can spend some one-on-one time together without the others around.
Now that we’ve postponed the rest of the tour, we might want to go on a private getaway.
The idea takes root, growing more appealing by the second. I reach for my phone, hesitating only briefly before dialing Kenzie's number.
"Evan? Is everything okay?" Her voice is tinged with worry.
"Everything's fine," I assure her quickly. "I have an idea, but I need your help. How would you and Liam like to surprise Mia with a trip?"
As I outline my plan, I can hear the smile in Kenzie's voice. This could be exactly what we all need - a chance to be together, away from the chaos. But even as I make arrangements, a part of me wonders if I'm being reckless. The stalker is still out there, after all.
But the thought of seeing Mia's face when she sees Liam... it's worth the risk.
***
Carmen wasn’t sure this was a good idea when I came up to her about it, but I assured her it was one of the safest options I had — especially when I’ve put my bandmates in danger as well. I’m not counting on the stalker following me, or should I say us — Kenzie and Liam waiting on our private jet as a surprise for Mia — but I’ve got the necessary measures in place to ensure our safety.
My phone rings in my pocket, and I roll my eyes at the idea of Carmen already trying to get ahold of me. However, the name that pops up has my eyebrows jumping high. I slide my finger across the screen, then clear my throat.
“Mom, it’s good to hear from you.”
“Evan, gosh,” she says breathlessly. “I saw everything online and needed to check on you. Are you okay?”
I blink. “Uh, yeah?”
“That thing could’ve killed you, honey!” My mother’s voice becomes muffled, likely from her letting my dad know she’s got a hold of me. “You’re okay, though?”
“I’m doing good, Mom, just trying to figure everything out.”
With everything that’s been going on, I can’t remember the last conversation I’ve had with her and I realize she doesn’t know what I’ve gone through lately. I scrub a hand down the back of my neck, then look over at Mia, who’s watching me curiously.
“Someone’s been targeting me,” I say softly, trying to ease her into the news — not that it works since she still gasps with horror.
“Oh, no, why don’t you come home for a little bit?”
Actually… that might not be such a bad idea. “I’m on my way to my private vacation home, but maybe when I get back?” I keep my eyes on Mia as I add, “There’s someone I want you to meet. Well, two people.”
Mia’s eyebrows jump to the top of her head, and I throw her a wink before calming my mother’s rambling down. “Look, I’m about to get on the jet. I’ll call you when I get back, and we’ll set something up.”
“That sounds great, I miss having you around,” my mother says gently. “Please let me know when things get under control. I worry about you.”
“I will, Mom, love you.”
Mia is silent next to me and she’s bouncing her leg nervously while looking out the window.
I can almost see the gears turning in her head. She bites her lip, a sure sign she's conflicted.
"What's wrong, darlin'?" I ask softly.
Mia sighs, turning to face me. "I'm torn, Evan. Part of me is thrilled about this trip, about spending time with you. But the bodyguard in me is screaming that this is a bad idea. How can I protect you if I'm... distracted?"
Her honesty hits me hard. I hadn't fully considered how this trip might complicate things for her professionally.
I place a hand on her thigh since we’re finally alone, and she glances at me for a moment.
“What’s going on in that pretty head of yours, darlin’?”
She sighs heavily. “Maybe we should stay here. Also, what the hell were you thinking?”
“That my mother would love to know that she has a grandson, and I’m sure it will be nice for him to have my parents in his life.”
Mia has never mentioned her parents, and judging by the way her eyes cast down to her lap, my assumptions about them no longer being here are obviously correct.
Mia's voice is quiet when she finally speaks. "Your parents... they're good people?"
The vulnerability in her tone breaks my heart a little. I squeeze her hand. "The best. They'll adore Liam, I promise."
She nods, a mix of emotions playing across her face. "It's just... Liam's never had grandparents. I want that for him so badly. But it's also terrifying. What if they don't approve of me? Of us?"
"Hey," I say, tilting her chin up to meet my eyes. "They'll love you both. How could they not?"
A small smile tugs at her lips, but I can see the worry still lingering in her eyes. I make a mental note to talk more about this later. For now, I pull her close, hoping my embrace can offer the reassurance my words can't quite convey.
Liam hasn’t had grandparents to dote on him, and that’s exactly what my parents will do — once the shock wears off, of course.
“As for the trip, I’ve got everything situated,” I tell her softly while pulling her against me. “There’s security that will be with us, even Rory, and they will make sure we’re safe while away.”
“Are you sure this is a good idea?”
“I want to spend time with you without having to worry about someone catching us. It might be bad timing, but I do think it’s a good idea. We’re going on a private getaway where the stalker is unlikely to follow us.”
Mia nods, finally trusting my words, and the car pulls to a stop in front of the private jet. The flight attendant is already waiting for us outside, the entrance lowered for us to walk through, and I let Mia ease herself out of the vehicle before following right behind her.
Our driver meets me at the back, our bags hanging from each of his hands, and I take them from him with a thankful smile. Mia is waiting next to the car, her finger in her mouth as she chews on it, and I gently nudge it from her mouth so I can thread my fingers through hers.
Kenzie insisted that Mia would love what I’m trying to do for her, but I’m still nervous she’s going to be upset that I asked Kenzie and Liam to tag along. Not so much Kenzie, but I know Mia has been worried since the stalker knows about him.
I take a deep breath and lead her up the stairs, then through the cabin. Liam is bouncing excitedly in one of the seats, Kenzie next to him with her finger scrolling absentmindedly along her phone screen, and I come to a stop. Mia gasps behind me, trying her best to squeeze between me and the doorway, and I chuckle before letting her through.
“Mommy!” Liam says excitedly, jumping from his place on the seat and wrapping his tiny arms around her legs.
“Baby,” Mia says as she bends down to give him a big bear hug. “I didn’t know you’d be here.”
Liam smiles, then glances at me and nods. “Evan said it was our secret. Sorry, I kept it from you.”
When the woman I know I’m falling more and more in love with looks up at me, I almost expect for her to get angry with me and demand that he be taken back home. That’s not at all what she does, though. Instead, she rises from the floor and walks away from Liam to step into my arms.
“Thank you,” she whispers against me. “This is really what I needed after everything.”
Kenzie clears her throat from her chair, an eyebrow arched. “Do I not get a big hug?”
Mia chuckles, then pushes away from me and goes over to her best friend. They share a hug, where I’m sure Kenzie says something to her, and Mia’s cheeks are red when she pulls away.
I wonder what Kenzie said to her.
“Let’s get going then,” I say to everyone, ruffling Liam’s hair as I walk past him and take one of the other empty seats.
Mia sinks into the one next to Kenzie, the two of them talking animatedly about going to a private island, and Liam slowly comes over to me. “What’s up, bud?”
He shrugs, then looks between me and his mom. “Do you like each other?”
“We do,” I say softly. “Is that okay?”
“Yeah, you’re pretty cool,” he says with a big grin.
After a few moments of silence, I assume that he’s done asking me questions, but he angles himself closer to me and asks, “Are you going to get married?”
That wasn’t what I was expecting.
I wrack my brain, trying to come up with a good answer for him, but the only thing I can imagine is an image of Mia walking down the aisle toward me. Eventually, I’d like to have more kids, but what if that’s not something she wants?
No, I’ve seen the way she is with Liam, and I’m willing to bet she’d love to have more kids running around.
Liam is blinking at me, waiting for my answer, and I clear my throat with a nervous smile. “Well, bud, I guess we’ll have to see where the future takes us. Let’s not rush things too much, yeah?”
He nods, then leans back into the leather seat. “Yeah, you’re right.”
Now, all I can think about is marrying the woman sitting across the aisle from me…and it doesn’t seem so bad.
