Chapter 7 #2

and these are your people. The choice has to be yours.”

“Way to bail.”

“Hey, I said I’ll support you, but

this is something you need to decide.” Duroc observed.

“I just don’t know what to

do.”

“Why don’t we talk things out and

maybe it will help you decide?”

“Okay, we can try.” Bindi

agreed.

“Would you like to live here so you

can get some answers about your mom and the rest of your

family?”

“I’ll admit, I wonder about her all

the time. Now I’m not even sure if she’s dead.”

“Could you handle being half of an

alpha pair?” Duroc questioned.

“I know nothing about

that.”

“So maybe. Do you consider these your

people, and do you want to help them?”

“Some of them are good people. Maybe

more would be without Alpha Allen to run things and punish them.”

Bindi speculated.

“Another yes. Are you willing to risk

something to do the right thing?”

“I am, but not you. There’s no way I

could risk you.”

“You need to have faith. So, we’ll

consider that a yes. Mostly yeses and one maybe.”

“I’d fight him myself.”

“Female wolves can’t beat a male. You

wouldn’t be allowed to fight.” Duroc explained.

“It has to be you?”

“Yes, it does.”

“That scares me. I don’t want to lose

you.” Bindi admitted.

“Wolves fight, alphas fight more. You

know we risk our lives everyday when we work for Tyne.”

“I know, but it’s not the same to head

into it knowing someone is going to die. No one challenges him,

there’s a reason. He won’t fight fair.”

“We’ll all be looking for that.” Duroc

offered.

“I believe you want to do

this.”

“Admittedly, I hate what this male has

been doing to his pack and fear whoever takes over will go back to

that. My plan never included being a pack alpha, but my father

trained me to be exactly that if necessary.”

“That makes me the weak link.” Bindi

observed.

“No, never. You’re just untrained but

some things come naturally. The care and concern is already there.

We have one chance, take it or leave it, but there is a

choice.”

“I’m scared.” She looked up at him

with tears in her eyes.

Duroc pulled her into a tight embrace.

“You’d be crazy if you weren’t.”

“You’re waiting for me to decide?

Can’t we just put it off?”

“Sorry, baby. They are waiting.” Duroc

mentioned.

“You really think we can do

this?”

“Absolutely. There is no

doubt.”

“Okay, but if you lose, I’ll kill

you.” Bindi threatened.

“Agreed. We’d best go tell them so

they can get their plan in place.”

“Let’s go.”

Duroc took her hand and led her back

to the living room where the others were talking. “Have you made a

decision yet?” Damon asked.

“We’re willing to try.”

“Good, I’m happy to hear it. We need

to give the challenge now. The rules have changed and an heir

apparent to an alpha can now watch a challenge so Tramp will go

with you as will I. Tyne will be there to watch for any cheating. I

believe Al will call the alphas above and below.”

“Okay. When will the fight be?” Bindi

asked.

“I’ll call him now and the fight will

be tomorrow afternoon. That way he shouldn’t have time to plan

anything.”

Damon quickly made the call. And he

could hear some of it. Alpha Al was pissed, and his voice rose. “I

don’t even know this woman you speak of.”

“You’ll know her soon. Be prepared for

the challenge, it’s been made.” Damon insisted.

The ball was rolling and Duroc hoped

it would land in a place that would be good for all concerned

except Al. Bindi sent him a concerned look and that was what she

would have to deal with until he won this challenge. They needed

time alone so he could assure and comfort his mate. She’d been

through so much and now there would be more.

Damon said, “It’s on and he’s been

informed. Tomorrow we’ll go a bit early to check things

out.”

“My mate and I wish to go as well.”

His dad mentioned.

“You are welcome to come along.” Damon

offered. “For now, everyone get some rest and do whatever you need

to get in the right frame of mind.”

He took his mate back to their room.

It was early, but she’d been through an emotional mess, and she

needed him to calm her. That’s what mates were for. As soon as the

door was shut, Bindi was stripping out of her clothes. Duroc began

to do the same. His mate wouldn’t have to wait for him. Everything

was ready and he pulled her into his arms to kiss her. This was a

sweet and loving kiss. It told her he supported her and would do

anything for her.

Having reassured her, his wolf rose

wanting to bring passion out. His eyes glowed gold and hers did too

in response. What happened now would be full of animalistic

passion. She was wolf too and there was no need to take it easy.

Their bed was close, and he backed her up until it was right behind

her. He pressed her until she fell then he kissed her with all his

passion.

Duroc spread her thighs and sunk

himself deep inside her. He moaned at the wonderful way it felt to

join his mate. She rose to meet him as he sank into her. Her

muscles squeezed his shaft making him feel amazing. Faster and

harder he slammed into her. No tenderness in this joining, that

would come later. This was hard and fast and completely physical.

They were wild with their wolves running the show.

His body felt her tighten as her

orgasm loomed. His body reacted in kind ready to blow after she

did. His mate moaned and squeezed him even tighter. “Oh,

goddess!”

He didn’t think he had any more energy

to throw into his body, but he found some going even deeper. That’s

when his mate went crazy biting him as she climaxed. Duroc followed

and neither of them had an ounce of energy left. Kissing his mate,

he moved off her so they could position themselves properly on the

bed. Duroc joined her and they snuggled up tight.

As he had expected, Bindi was deep

asleep. Duroc slid away from her not wishing to wake her. Later, he

would come back and join her. His dad would be waiting for

him.

“I expected you.” His dad, Alpha

Calvin, said.

“I know.” He grinned. “You want to

discuss what this might mean?”

“Of course. While I expect you to win,

if you don’t, we’ll see your mate settled. She’s good at the

security business, right?”

“She is about the part you wanted to

do. Guarding and investigating, not as much.”

“We’d give her your job. Don’t worry

about her at all.”

“Thanks Dad, but you know I’ll still

worry.” Duroc admitted.

Calvin sighed heavily. “That’s what I

thought but maybe it’ll ease those worries a bit.”

“It will. Why don’t you tell me more

about the male I’ll be fighting.”

“I wish I could. He’s never

challenged. His people are all scared to death of him. A good point

is I’ve never heard of him training either. The guy isn’t as bad as

Hemple was, but he’s on his way, Nature only gives us so much and

if you let it all go to hell, eventually you’ll lose it.

Unfortunately, being evil doesn’t run down your body on its

own.”

“I always heard rumors, but nothing to

back them up.”

”We know now that the rumors were

true. Taking him out will help many people. I’m proud if of you for

doing this.”

“Thanks Dad. I hope it goes the way we

want it to.” Duroc admitted.

“You’re a hell of a fighter. I can’t

imagine him winning. We’ll all be there to prevent any cheating. Be

careful, but you’ve got this.”

He could remember when he was young

his dad encouraging him in this way. Seemed you were never too old

to appreciate your father’s advice. Provided he was a good father.

It was hard to imagine a father like Bindi’s who didn’t stand up

for his children. His dad sent him to his roomroom, which hadn’t

happened in years.

“Rest up and be there in case your

mate wakes.”

Duroc hurried back but Bindi was

sleeping soundly. He only hoped he could manage to do the same.

Curling into his mate, he did manage to sleep against all his

expectations. In the morning, they woke together in time for a good

breakfast. This was the day it would all go down.

“You ready?” Damon asked as he took a

sip of coffee.

“Ready as I’ll ever be.”

“You’ll do fine. He’s no match for

you.” Damon assured.

“Yeah, say it often enough I might

stop worrying.” Duroc replied.

“I know you won’t. That’s what most

people do when such a big thing is happening.”

“At least I fit in with most

people.”

“Let’s all finish up then load.” Damon

instructed.

That was what they did. They headed

out and the trip was three hours with brief oneone brief stop. When

they arrived, there was a house he would have expected to be a pack

house, but it wasn’t big enough.

“Is that the pack house?” Damon ask

asked a young wolf standing there staring at them.

“No, it’s the alphas home. That is the

packhouse.” He pointed to a rundown barn. It looked like boards had

fallen off and not been replaced and that roof had to

leak.

“My goodness.” Marissa said and she

had a disgusted look on her face. Bindi just nodded in

agreement.

“Take me to your alpha.” Damon said

with a touch of alpha in his voice. The young wolf couldn’t get him

there fast enough. They had been brought to the door but not

brought inside.

“I’ll have to go get him.”

The guy came back with Alpha Allen.

“This wasn’t a joke?”

“No one here is laughing. It’s time to

go to the circle and get things ready.” Damon

instructed.

“Who are you sacrificing?”

“You’ve been challenged by Duroc.”

Damon replied.

“He’s just a pup.” Alpha Al

observed.

“Old enough to challenge

you.”

“Fine. Let’s go.” Al said as he went

to his truck. They all got in their SUVs and followed him.

Apparently, the circle wasn’t close.

Tramp and Petie were already there

along with several of Tyne’s people. Duroc felt better to know he

had many friends here. The fight would be on soon and then he’d

know about his future. Petie and Marissa were together whispering

things that made his hair stand on end. Magic was in the

air.

“What are they doing?” Duroc

asked.

“The last challenger here was shot

dead. They are doing a protective spell, so we’ll avoid that.”

Damon admitted.
