22. Sweet treat

Sweet treat

Elena

My heart pounds in my ears, not from my workout.

The burning tip of my thumb still tingles from the touch of his tongue.

Did he just…reciprocate?

Weeks of me teasing and flirting is finally showing some rewards. All I want is for him to grab me and make me his. We’ve become so close the last few weeks—

Months?

He’s easy to be around, takes such good care of me, and always seems to truly appreciate me.

There’s always a pain in his gaze though, one I want to help heal.

And he’s hot as hell. Sculpted abs, veiny arms, and an ass that I could bounce a coin off of.

Once in a while I get a glimpse of the package he’s hiding, when he doesn’t turn away quickly enough.

I haven’t had a steady guy before, but know just how much fun one can be.

Wade makes me feel safe, and I should be thankful for that.

I’d rather be here than in jail.

Maybe I should be content with our situation? I’ve never been this…comfortable. Is it wrong I want to stay? Make it more?

Yet, he’s fought me every time I try to step close.

Except this time.

Fiery desire blooms in my belly. Would he push me away now?

As tempting as the melting ice cream in my rootbeer float is, he is much more alluring.

Working my way upstairs reveals he gave up on his treat. The last swirl of froth rims the drain in the sink, and the cup is in the garbage.

Why would he throw it out?

I mean, I get it. It isn’t nearly as fun trying to enjoy it by myself.

No, it’s not. I’d rather let him see just how much I like it.

Knocking on his bedroom door, I stand there for a moment trying to listen for him.

“Wade? Are you in there?” Impatiently, I swing it open to find his empty suite with his uniform tossed on the bed. Even the light to his bathroom is off.

Where did he go? His truck is still parked out front.

Rumbling from the tractor points me in the right direction.

Determination sets my jaw.

That teasing touch of his betrayed what I know he’s been fighting. So he’s going to either admit it, or tell me to stop.

Either way, I’m getting some truth out of him.

Dropping my phone and ear buds on the counter, I grab up my nearly-full float and run down the porch steps.

The sweat from my workout prickles off my skin in the scorching sun as I cut behind the house towards the field.

He’s heading away from me, his big green tractor towing a heavy machine that churns up the loose grass and spits out small bales of neatly packaged hay behind it.

It rumbles like a giant animal, devouring the dry plants and pooping out square turds.

I’m still laughing about it when Wade turns at the end to start back in this direction.

He shakes his head when he sees me, dropping the brim of his hat to cover his eyes.

Only when he’s nearly rolling over me does he stop.

My knuckles bounce off the glass of the cab until he swings the door open.

“Hold this.” I extend my melted drink up to him.

“Elena, I gotta—” He pauses and takes the cup when I grab the ladder to climb up. “What are you doing?”

Giving him a sweet smile, I hunch over once I’m inside. “I’ve never been in one of these before. Besides, it’s no fun to eat ice cream alone.”

He glances down to the sticky liquid drink. “I think it’s all warm.”

“That’s fine, I don’t mind hot, thick fluid sliding down my throat. Daddy .” I add the last for emphasis.

His jaw tics and he juts my float to me. “Elena,” he growls, warning lacing my name.

“I’m not stopping you. You can keep doing…whatever it is you’re doing. But I’m not letting this dessert go to waste. And I’m not eating it alone.” I glance around the cramped cab and realize that there’s only one seat.

“You’re being ridiculous. Just enjoy it. That’s what it’s for,” he grumbles. “I have to finish this in case it rains tonight.”

I can tell by the pinch in his brows that he doesn’t.

He’s just avoiding me.

“Go on then. Put ‘er in drive.” I give him a wide smile, then scoop a taste with the plastic spoon.

It’s still good, even if it isn’t cold, so I let out a moan on purpose.

His scowl hides as he drops his hat again, then the whole tractor lurches forward, pitching me against him.

One muscular arm catches me around my waist, dropping me onto his lap.

Straddling his thick thigh, a wave of heat rushes through me, faster than any frozen treat could cool.

Miraculously, I didn’t spill a drop.

His fingers spread against my flushed skin, tightening his grip on my bare flank as he snugs me to his chest protectively. “Are you okay?” His question comes out hoarsely, almost like the words hurt leaving his throat.

“More than ‘okay’,” I murmur, turning a full spoon towards his lips. “Here.”

When he hesitates, I lean closer until my cheek almost brushes his. “I promise, you’ll like it, daddy.”

The corner of his mouth turns up in a wry smile before he drops his chin to let me feed him.

But then his palm lowers from my side to my hip, pulling back just far enough to land a firm smack to my hip.

Electricity arcs through me making me tighten my thighs around his.

“I told you about that,” he says, the tip of his tongue working the creamy droplet from the edge of his mustache.

My knee presses into the foam seat, the only thing keeping me from pushing it against the bulge of his crotch in his snug jeans.

Pulling another bite or two from the emptying cup, I hold the spoon up for him to have another bite.

“See? I told you it’s better with someone else.” My shoulder rocks into his chest as the tractor sways, sending a new wave of heat racing into me.

“You’re right.” It looks like it pains him to say it.

I scrape the bottom of the container, sharing the last bit with him. “Do you know what else is more fun with company?” My hand works up his shirt so I can curl my fingers behind his neck.

He tenses, then slams on the brakes, rocking me away from him. Only his firm grip keeps me from tumbling against the steering wheel. “Some mysteries are left undiscovered.”

Holding the vehicle still, he peels me off his leg. “Your stop, ma’am.”

What?

Damn him.

I meet his gaze for a long breath, then give up.

Maybe I was wrong after all.

Whatever.

I don’t look back after I crawl down, crumpling the empty paper cup in my hands as I stomp my way to the house.

It finds its way into the garbage on my way to my suite.

Shedding my clothes, I make a beeline for the bathroom.

My whole body tingles with need, begging for an outlet.

At least the shower head won’t reject me.
