Van Nuys Airport
Three months later
I was so freaking nervous. Back where this whole crazy journey had started almost five months ago. Standing around the Van Nuys Airport trying not to look like the way-too-early geek, I clearly was.
But now this was all on me. My name was at the top of the letterhead. Wes had stepped back to focus on his family. Now he was the silent CEO available for gladhanding and the occasional dinner. The day to day of running Black Hat Productions was all on me.
Me .
No pressure.
“You are beyond ridiculous.” Xander snorted next to me as he slumped on the bench and pulled his hat down to cover his eyes. “Absolutely no reason for us to be here an hour early. The jet isn’t even ready.”
But he was still here with me. Had to be since we’d ridden in the same hire car…from the same house…because Xander and I were living together.
But still, he was here early with me, despite the fact that he thought I was being ridiculous.
Is it any wonder why I loved the guy so much?
Unable to resist, I leaned over the edge of the bench and kissed his sleepy lips. It took him less than a second to perk up and drag me onto his lap and take control of the kiss. I forgot everything else. Where we were. That I was nervous.
That there were so many people around.
Hands started wandering and caressing.
Xander groaned harshly in my ear.
“Hey, hey. You two need to knock it off. This is a public space. Hey!”
I jerked back at the strident voice speaking above us. Blinking back into the present, I realized it was a police officer speaking. A police officer we’d been making out in front of.
Oh god.
“I’m so sorry, officer.” I moved to stand up, but Xander still had ahold of me around my waist and wouldn’t let me up. “I, uh, we clearly forgot where we are.”
The officer scowled at me. “Not okay. This is a public space. Don’t let it ha—Xander Lang? Holy shit. Are you Xander Lang?”
“Yes, sir.” Xander grinned up at the officer with lipstick smeared over his lips. “We’re just waiting for the jet. This one is a bit of a control freak who has to be at least an hour early to everything.”
“Holy shit! Can I get a picture?”
This time Xander had to let go of me so I could take a picture of him and his super fan cop. After a few pictures, a lot of effusive compliments, and what I’d later swear was a squeal, the police officer left without another mention of our little public make-out session.
But I wasn’t going to let Xander forget.
The second the cop was gone, I slapped Xander’s shoulder. “Seriously? You didn’t have enough fun last night at Limelight that you had to start something here ?”
Judging by the smirk on his face, Xander had zero regrets. “Did I tell you that we have a club in Marseille too?”
“Of course you do.” I rolled my eyes but my smile belied my attitude.
“Hey it’s too late to back out now. You’ve got my initials tatted on your finger.” He stepped into my space and wrapped his arms around me. “You’re mine forever now.”
I held up my hand and admired the huge diamond he’d put on there a few months back. We hadn’t made it permanent with the matching wedding band yet, but the date had been set. His parents had been over the moon when I’d met them. Between the band, Xander’s family, and my budding relationship with my dad, I had more family than I ever thought possible.
“I don’t know. I think a pink leprechaun would’ve looked good too,” I teased him with a smile.
He narrowed his eyes at me, but before he could come up with a retort, Noah’s voice came from behind him.
“Who’s getting a pink leprechaun tattooed where? You know what? I don’t care. I’m in!” Noah grinned at me, looking all pink cheeked and happy. Not a jitter in sight.
Xander just laughed and rested his forehead against mine for a beat. Then he pressed a quick kiss on my lips and pulled away. “To be continued, angel.”
I grinned back at him. He was right, and I couldn’t wait to continue our love story. For the rest of our lives. Together.
The End
