Chapter 15

Chapter Fifteen

B ain

Bain had spent part of the day patrolling outside, and now he needed another shower to rinse off the sweat. He’d just undressed and was about to step under the water when Clive came bursting into the bathroom.

“Bain! I figured it out! With one of the companies—” He broke off, eyes flaring wide when he realized Bain was completely naked. “Um.”

Bain couldn’t help but grin as he snatched his towel and wrapped it around his waist because it was obvious Clive had lost his focus. But it was already too late. Clive’s arousal was obvious as his pants tented. His gaze stayed glued to Bain’s abs and his tongue came out to lick his lips.

Fuck, he loved this human’s reaction to him. “What were you saying?”

“Uh, I was saying…um…” Clive cleared his throat. “I’m sorry to have barged in here. You’re so naked. Again.” He looked away, then back. “You’re just so damn beautiful.”

Surprised those words had come from Clive’s mouth, Bain tried prompting him again. “You said you figured it out?”

Clive nodded slowly. “I think so. One of the men who hired me hasn’t been answering his emails, and when I did a quick search, I found out that he’d been killed. His body was found in an abandoned warehouse. This made me suspicious, so I started digging deeper into their files and I found out they’ve been swindling thousands of people, using fake accounts, hiding money. They must have killed him for hiring me. That’s my guess anyway. I compiled everything so we can go to the FBI.”

“What’s the company?”

“Bassinger Holdings.”

“I’ll have Xavier look into them. I’m sure there are preternaturals involved because of the wendigo.” He realized Clive was barely paying attention to him, his gaze back on Bain’s body. His interest, the lust in his expression—it made Bain’s heart pick up beats. Blood filled his cock.

The air between them filled with heat. The silence drew out as Bain waited, but Clive just stared.

“I got pretty dirty tromping through the woods with Alaric, so I’m going to shower. You said you already compiled everything for the Feds?”

Clive nodded.

“Xavier has a contact there, so we could email everything.”

“I’d rather take it myself. I want to find out what they’re going to do and how quickly they can do it.”

“Okay then. We’ll go first thing in the morning—unless you want to go tonight? I’m sure Xavier could have his contact meet us there.”

“Morning’s good,” Clive murmured as he all but devoured Bain with his eyes.

Bain couldn’t resist. He walked to Clive and tilted up his chin, meeting his gaze. “Is there something else you’d rather do tonight, Clive?”

“Big time.”

He couldn’t resist those lips, either, so he leaned down to kiss them. “Wait for me in the bedroom. I’m going to shower first.”

Clive’s fast nod made him want to laugh, but he didn’t because the man turned away and nearly ran from the bathroom.

Knowing his world was about to be rocked, Bain hurried through his shower, cursing at the leaves and dirt he had to wash out of his hair. He dried off fast, ran a comb through his wet hair, then wrapped a towel around his waist. Anticipation built inside him, but he made himself walk slowly into the bedroom, where he found Clive standing beside the bed.

“You need to lose the clothes,” he said, his voice already husky with desire.

Clive started unbuttoning his shirt, revealing creamy, delicious skin. “I guess those company rules don’t really apply to us anymore after last night.”

“I couldn’t care less about the rules.” Not that they mattered after what Xavier had revealed. That he’d started the company in Seattle so Bain would meet Clive.

“I won’t tell if you won’t.” He dropped his shirt onto the floor.

“Clive, if I touch you more, everyone is going to know.” He took a step closer and made sure Clive could see the truth of what was happening in his expression. “Because I won’t be giving you up. Ever.”

“Ever?” Clive paused at the top button of his jeans, pure hope shining in those beautiful blue eyes. “Do you mean that?”

Bain slowly moved toward him. “Never meant anything more in my life. If I touch you, I’m keeping you.”

“You said you like variety.”

“I do. But I will only give my heart once. I’m pretty sure my parents had it wrong—that basilisks can mate for life.”

“You want to mate me? Like in the books? That’s real?” His eyes went wide. “Me?”

“I wanted you the moment I saw you, and getting to know you just confirmed to me how very special you are. So yes, if I put my hands on you again, it will only be me touching you for the rest of your very long life. It will be a mating, not just sex. Not just a relationship.”

Clive’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

“If we mate, your life force will tie with mine and you’ll live as long as I do—which is hundreds of years. Possibly more.”

“Hundreds,” Clive murmured.

“Oh, yes,” he drawled as he placed his hands on Clive’s shoulders. Touching his bare flesh sent heat sizzling up his arms, and Bain shuddered. “We’re going to have so much time to learn each other’s bodies, to explore, to taste.”

But Clive shook his head. “You’ll get bored with me. Everyone does. I’m a shut-in, remember?”

“Now that you understand about the supernatural world, you know not to be afraid anymore. Besides, you’ll have me to keep you safe.” Bain wrapped his arms around Clive, pulling him close. “I will never get bored with you. How could I when you hold my heart in your hands?”

“What if the sex isn’t good?”

But couldn’t help but laugh. “It was good last night. You ever felt chemistry like this?”

“No.”

“Trust me. We’re gonna continue to rock together. Let me show you.”

“Yes,” Clive hissed, pushing back so he could undo his jeans with frantic fingers.

“Let me,” Bain whispered. He slid his fingers under the waistband slowly, watching as Clive’s lips parted. He undid the buttons then knelt to pull down the jeans. Clive lifted each foot to help him remove them entirely. His future mate even had pretty feet.

Bain kissed up Clive’s legs then nuzzled into the blue boxers covering his obviously hard dick. “You smell so good it’s going to my head.” He looked up. “How do you like to have sex, Clive?”

“H…how?” He stuttered.

“Yes, how. Are you a top or a bottom? Or do you prefer hands or oral only? What do you like?”

“I like all of it, though I’m not much of a top. It’s okay but I prefer—” He broke off on a gasp because Bain had grasped his cock.

“You prefer being fucked, Clive?”

“Oh, god, yes! Please!”

“First, I’m going to taste you. Every stunning inch of you.” He stood. “Lose the underwear and stretch out on that bed.”

Clive walked past him, then bent to take off his boxers. Bain’s heart nearly beat out of his chest at the sight of that incredibly round ass naked again. It was a thing of pure beauty. So meaty he wanted to take a bite. He groaned.

Clive stretched out on the bed and Bain could only stare for several long moments as he dropped his towel onto the floor.

Then he started with Clive’s feet, kissing the arches. Bain ran his lips up those shapely legs, kissed his knees. He spent a lot of time on Clive’s slim thighs, skirted his groin for now, and continued the love over Clive’s stomach and chest. When he reached that luscious mouth, they both moaned as their tongues slid together.

He kissed Clive deeply, exploring every part of his mouth, drugged on his unique flavor. Desire hummed along his every nerve, the need to bury himself deep inside his future mate burning. But just being close to him fulfilled some deep need he hadn’t even known of. A need to feel a part of something bigger. Something special.

He was going to have that.

Love.

“I need you, Clive,” he whispered as he kissed along his smooth jaw. “Not just your body, but you. Your laughter, your tears—though I’ll kill anyone who makes you cry. I want it all.”

“You have me.” Clive was touching him everywhere, like he was trying to map the lines of Bain’s body with his hands.

Bain knew he was probably making this too serious for a first time, but he knew with everything in him that having sex with Clive was going to bond them for life, and he needed Clive to understand that. There would be no separating after this because their souls would be intertwined. He slowly moved down Clive’s body, kissing, licking…tasting. When he reached Clive’s cock, he found it flushed and leaking, making his mouth water. Without hesitating, he took it all the way into his mouth.

Clive yelled as he clawed the bedding.

Bain couldn’t get enough. The heat. The flavor. The way Clive’s noises made him feel. This was so much more than pleasure.

“Stop, I’m going to come!”

He pulled off to grin up at Clive. “Isn’t that the point?”

“I want to do that when you’re inside me.” Clive grabbed the bottle of lube off his side table and poured some on his fingers. “Move so I can get ready. It won’t take much prep because I already started that earlier.”

“You did? When?”

“I took a break right before I found what I was looking for. Was thinking about you. About fucking. I want it so much.”

The thought of this man fingering himself caused Bain to shut his eyes, overcome with lust. “Wish I’d seen that.”

“Move and then you will.”

He immediately sat up, groaning when Clive started working himself open. “So fucking sexy,” he breathed. “Next time, though, I’m doing that. I’m going to slide my fingers deep inside you, set your prostate on fire.”

“Do that with your cock.” Clive pulled out his fingers then surprised Bain when he lifted his legs and rolled over onto his stomach. He spread his thighs, exposing his softened hole to Bain’s avid gaze. The mounds of his perfect butt drew Bain’s hands. He cupped them and squeezed. Then couldn’t resist leaning down to bite.

Clive let out the sexiest noise.

Bain couldn’t believe it, but he was shaking. Everything about this felt momentous. His need to meld with this man just took over everything.

“Please, Bain. I need you so badly.” Clive wiggled his ass.

There was no resisting that. The jiggle or the words. He moved over Clive, bringing his cock to Clive’s entrance. As he pressed slowly inside, he opened his mouth over the back of Clive’s neck. Holy hell, the man felt so good inside, his silky walls clasping Bain’s cock like a vise.

Clive was making all these noises. Whimpers and cries and strangled moans. He sounded like he was losing his mind, and just knowing that it was because of him gave Bain the biggest rush.

He moved inside him, picking up the pace of his hips, loving the way Clive lifted up into him. Bain couldn’t stop kissing him and breathing in his heady, masculine scent. He nuzzled into his hair then sucked on his ear. Clive turned and tried to reach his mouth so Bain bent to offer his lips. Frustrated at the angle and needing his mouth on Clive’s, Bain pulled out and turned Clive over, sliding back between his legs to enter him again.

“This way, I can kiss you all I want,” he breathed before diving into Clive’s mouth.

Nothing had ever felt this good. Nothing. He wanted to crawl into this man’s precious soul and live there.

He pushed up onto one elbow, locked eyes with Clive, and reached between them to stroke Clive. It was a tight fit, but he made it work. They stared at each other, Clive’s mouth opening as his eyes glazed over. He went taut then erupted all over himself.

Watching him come was like a gift. Bain ran his hand through Clive’s cum then braced himself with both hands on the bed, not caring that he’d smeared it all over the bedding. He cared about nothing but reaching for his own peak as he stared at this man who’d stolen his heart.

His orgasm tore through him with such force he couldn’t stop the bellow that ripped from his mouth. He still didn’t look away from those cornflower blues, and what he saw there, the absolute satiated trust and affection, formed a thick lump in his throat. It took him several moments to find his voice. “Just so you know, after that, I’m even more determined to keep you.”

Clive’s grin lit up his entire face as he pulled Bain down to him. “You’d better be.”
