Sylvia #2
“Ex. Wife. EX. Remember that part. We aren’t together anymore.
I don’t owe you anything and you live with a whole other bitch.
You had a baby with her before the divorce was finalized and you want me to feel something for you?
I did my best for you and by you and I have no guilt about anything I’ve done.
I just want you to leave me alone.” I knew being civil wasn’t going to help but I didn’t mind trying again to avoid Hassan losing hiss hit.
I could see he held his body rigid because he didn’t even like me speaking to Dave but was trying to let me handle it.
Instead of being an adult Dave had the nerve to smirk at me like Hassan wasn’t even there. “We gone forever be linked.”
“You and the kids are linked, not us. I need you to drop this. I haven’t thought about you in a romantic way in a long time. And definitely not since Hassan made all physical reminders of you a thing of the past.”
Dave looked at me like I disgusted him and I wondered why the truth was fucking with him so bad. “This nigga been here for some months. He’ll leave again and then what you gone do. Risking it all for a nigga that will drop your ass.”
He’d clearly forgotten that he was talking his shit with that man standing in front of him and Hassan clearly took offense to his words. “You said so yourself that I’ve wanted Sylvia since I was a kid. So me leaving her ain’t an option.”
Hassan switched up his stance and now he was even more broad damn near blocking me from Dave’s view.
From my peripheral I could see Jada Cunningham’s boyfriend mirroring Hassan’s posture and I needed someone to act like they had sense.
Bug was now next to Jada and my brothers were surrounding them.
I knew we were about to draw a bunch of attention but I knew Dave wasn’t going to stop until he got embarrassed. So I decided to fast track his shame.
“You always wondered why I never bothered to try to make this work with you. He’s the reason.”
Dave glanced between Hassan and me like he was trying to figure out how that could be possible. “The fuck you mean. He just got back in town.”
“You think that?”
He looked at me and then back at Hassan before his face seemed to morph. He chuckled and then flicked the edge of his nose like the realization of what had gone down hit him.
“You had me out here thinking you were a good girl but you a ho too. Yeah I see you left out your cheating when we got a divorce. I think we need to open that case back up since you lied under oath. You wanna fuck with me I’mma do the same.
So you found out I was cheating and went to cheat back?
Pussy couldn’t have been that good if he left for two—”
Hassan’s left hand was around Dave’s throat and his right was hitting him in the jaw repeatedly. Bug and Jada immediately started to cheer which of course had folks looking to see what was going on.
“I told you not to come fucking with us, didn’t I? But you couldn’t help yourself.” Another hit and folks were now backing up to give Hassan room to beat Dave’s ass instead of stoping the fight.
“Marion!” I motioned to my oldest brother who was grinning like he’d gotten first row seats and a title fight.
“Hell no, Sylvie. Let that man beat that nigga’s ass. Everyone has since he got caught up. Even you. That muthafucka got the nerve to disrupt you with your man right there he deserve what the fuck he gets.”
“Ay, that’s our family!” Some of Dave’s cousins came spilling out of their family tent and looked like they were about to rush Hassan who was having no trouble handling Dave.
He’d apparently got tired of hitting him in the face and was now raining down body shots.
Dave got a few hits in but none of them slowed down Hassan’s assault.
“One of y’all touch my fucking brother-in-law and we all got something for that ass. Let Dave get the asswhoopin’ he’s earned.”
I had been watching Hassan use Dave’s head like a ping pong ball just slapping him around this park but now I had to worry about my brothers.
Marion and Royce were now facing off with some of Dave’s cousins and I could see Cass and more of the Beacons coming over from the tent they’d occupied.
Bug and Jada were doing a play-by-play and telling Hassan where Dave was unguarded and my daddy and granddaddy were under the tent smiling.
Jesus it’s gonna divide the town like the fucking Hatfields and McCoys.
“Hassan, baby, please!” Hassan hit Dave again before Jada’s boyfriend intervened. I was worried that Hassan was going to turn on him next but he allowed himself to be pulled off of Dave.
“You was finna end that nigga in front of his people, fam. Too many folks out here.” A look passed between them and I had to wonder if they knew each other.
“I’m good, bruh. You’d think this nigga would be tired of getting his fucking ass beat. Lame ass. He’s lucky I ain’t got a hole ready yet.”
Hassan straightened his clothes, which were a simple t-shirt and basketball shorts, and Jada’s boyfriend just stood there looking mildly amused.
At least I think it was amusement. And with that comment I had to wonder who the hell I was sleeping with because he sounded a thousand percent serious about that hole.
Can you blame him though?
“This is the best Beacon Grove Day we’ve ever had.
” Jada Cunningham made that announcement as she ate what looked like potato salad off of a plate.
She was wearing a t-shirt with her family name on the front as though anyone would question who the hell she was.
Between her larger than life reputation and that red hair no one would mistake her for anyone else.
Not even for her sisters and they all looked alike.
“I’m sorry for this.” Hassan’s voice stopped me from starring at Jada like she had two heads because I felt terrible about this fight breaking out in the middle of what was supposed to be a family day.
The only good thing was that all of the kids were on a different side of the park and hadn’t seen any of it.
Dave’s cousins were helping him up with my brothers watching carefully.
I could tell they were standing between them and Hassan so nothing else happened but with the way Jada’s boyfriend was starring at them I don’t think my brothers were needed.
Who is this nigga?
