T his story was always going to be very different to The Psycho Trilogy, mainly because Bear is a very different kinda man! We love him immensely and he needed the right woman. Yeah, we may have led you to believe Flower was a possibility but y’all know that just wouldn’t have worked. Flower is a Reaper who belongs in New York… So we gave you Athena!
We also gave you easter eggs galore, but that’s all I’m saying about that before Brunette slaps my wrists haha.
I know my beautiful Brunette will do a lot of the thanks, she is so good at it, but I’mma do some too. I generally forget shit though, so everyone is included even if not by name!
With Bear being a Black man, (and the both of us being white), we wanted to make sure we did him justice and our first port of call was an amazing Black woman named Renita. She helped us make sure we represent him and his Black culture in the right way and we’re super grateful for all of her amazing advice 3
As per usual, David has been a fantastic editor, our Betas and Alpha are all bloody beauts, and Brunette’s brother produced another bangin’ cover… with, may I add, a stunning photo taken by Furios Fotog that we trawled the internet for weeks trying to find!

We know we didn’t make our girl, Athena, the usual kind of survivor, she’s a lot more upbeat than you’d generally expect, but that’s the beauty of survival. We all do it at different rates and in different ways. No one person’s survival looks exactly the same as someone else’s. And you know what…? That’s okay 3
Finally, I have to show love for my Brunette. My book wife. My lady.
She’s an absolute queen and that’s all I have to say about that!
My mum would have fucking loved this book, too. She loved a grizzly/teddy kinda trope and Bear would have been right up her street.
