Epilogue

My girlfriend and I clink taco shells before devouring our dinner on the way to the festival of lights.

“I’m pretty sure this is the same taco stand we stood in front of when we first said I love you last year,” she says with a mouthful of taco goodness.

I lean over and kiss her cold nose.

We buy a couple of hot ciders before entering the park.

Christmas lights surround us as we walk along the windy paths.

In the northeast corner of the park, we bump into Alona, Dinah, and their husbands walking in the opposite direction.

After the ladies hug and grab several selfies, we say goodbye as we continue down the path.

Dinah sneaks me a quick wink when she passes by us.

The northern point of the park has the largest lighted tree display. I remember Abby saying it was her favorite from last year.

“Wow,” she whispers, looking up in awe with steam coming out of her mouth.

I don’t respond and she turns to look at me, finding me on one knee while presenting a diamond ring to her.

“Bear?!”

“Abigail, I never expected to find someone who truly got me. I never expected to fall madly, passionately in love at my age. I never expected such a beautiful, talented, smart, sexy as all hell woman to love me back. I never expected you. And I never want to lose you. Abigail Bellrose, will you marry me?”

I watch my girlfriend become my fiance as she bursts into tears, whispering, “Yes!”
