Epilogue

Though this story is over, we won’t talk of endings.

Endings are rarely happy. Just ask a gravedigger.

Instead, we’ll talk of beginnings.

Messy, hard, painful beginnings.

Someone wrote you a bad start.

And now they want to write the rest.

They want to finish it, to finish you.

Don’t let them.

Take the pen. Demand it. Grab it.

Break in and steal it if you have to.

But hold it in your own hand.

And then, from this day forward,

This never-again day,

With everything you’ve got,

Your guts, your brains, your bang-crashing heart,

Take a deep breath,

And write your own story.
