Chapter 5 #2
She huffs. “This isn’t fair.”
“How is it not fair? Me marrying Katya doesn’t impact your life much.
You live here with your mom, not with me.
Katya isn’t going to be bossing you around like a new mom.
You’ll see her on occasion. Now, stop with these theatrics.
I am getting married to Katya and I want you two to help her pick out a wedding dress.
I expect this from you two. End of discussion. ” I stand up to signal the end of it.
“I should go with them,” Maria says. “I want to meet Katya.”
“I don’t want you involved, Maria. You could be seen as working with me and that could put you in danger with Dimitri. Nina and Susanna are too young to be seen as helping me. They won’t be in danger.”
“But what if Dimitri comes looking for his sister and my daughters are caught in the cross hairs?”
“They won’t be. Dimitri won’t be looking for Katya at bridal shops. Nina and Susanna will be fine. Now, this is happening. I’ll come get you two tomorrow so you can meet Katya. And then I’m taking you wedding dress shopping. I expect you to help her pick out a nice dress. And be nice to her.”
“You know who you’re talking to,” Maria mumbles. “My daughters are not exactly nice.”
“Mom,” Susanna gasps.
Maria shrugs. “It’s the truth.”
“I’ll be back tomorrow.” I give Nina a hug who only hesitates before giving in to it. Susanna on the other hand turns away from me before I can hug her and storms upstairs.
It’s going to be hard to change her opinion but Katya is going to be a part of my life now and Susanna can just deal with it.
Katya
My dress is completely wrinkled when I wake up in the morning. I know it’s the next day, judging from the sun coming in through the tiny window. I can’t deny that I feel sad about my dress. It’s the first true womanly thing I’ve ever owned and it’s ruined now.
Alek returns, making my heart skip a beat. Just his presence is too much to handle. He opens the door and stands there quietly, waiting for me to come out. I want to resist him but I’m worried he might spank me again and my backside is still sore from yesterday.
So I work up the courage and follow him out of the cage. He brings me to the kitchen where a large spread of food is situated on the table.
“Eat up. You’re going wedding dress shopping today.”
“You’re really going to marry me?”
He cups my face – I’ve noticed that he likes doing it – and smiles down at me. “I am. You are going to be mine, Katya.”
“What about what I want?”
“Do you really want to return to your room to stay hidden away forever? You deserve more things in your life, Katya. More action. More fun. You don’t deserve to stay hidden for the rest of your life. I am going to give you more.”
“But I want to go back to my room.”
“It’s a crutch for you. But I’m not going to let it be that way ever again.”
“What if Dimitri comes for me? He’ll take me back. Then I won’t be yours.”
“I trust that Dimitri will try to come for you again. But it will be harder once we’re married. Now, eat up.” He lets me go and I feel like I can breathe again.
My stomach is in knots but I force down as much of the food as I can. I don’t know how long the day will be and I need all the strength I can get.
“Let’s change you into something fresh.” He leads me back to his bedroom and takes out a pretty dark green dress. It’s feminine and soft but it still looks womanly. “Undress for me.”
I slip my dress off without looking him in the eye. My body is more alive than it’s ever been before.
“You need new underwear. Here.” He walks back into the closet and comes out with a new pair of panties and a bra. “I bought these for you too. Change.”
All the breath leaves my body. “Here?”
“Yes. Change.”
I know there’s no way I’m getting out of this, so the sooner it’s over with, the better. My hands are shaking so much however that I can’t unclasp my bra.
“Let me,” Alek murmurs, walking behind me and placing his fingers to my clasp. He opens my bra and pushes it down my arms. “Your panties too.” His fingers rest on the waistband.
His body sings of fire. It’s like I can feel every breath and inch of him. Then he pulls my underwear down. Alek doesn’t comment as he stands behind me but I can tell he’s breathing heavy. He’s having a reaction to my naked body.
And I’m having a reaction to him looking at my naked body.
I’m so nervous that I’m actually not panicking. Instead, a strange sense of calm has overtaken me. I focus on breathing.
Alek walks in front of me and his eyes dart over every inch of my body. “Here.” He hands me the new bra and underwear. Without hesitating, I put them on. Shame fills me when I feel arousal between my legs. Why am I feeling this way around my kidnapper?
After I slip the dress on, Alek turns me to face the full length mirror near the closet.
The dress hugs my body perfectly. It’s long sleeved and shows just the tiniest bit of cleavage without being crude.
The dress ends around my shins. I look elegant and classy in a simple way. I look like a woman.
“Perfect,” he murmurs, pushing my hair behind my shoulder. “You look ready to go wedding dress shopping. Pick out something nice to wear. I want to be wowed by what I see on the big day.”
I swallow hard. “You’re really going to marry me?”
“I really am.” His eyes catch mine in the mirror. “Don’t we look good together? I think we do. What do you think?”
I think he scares me and excites me and confuses me all in one go. “I don’t know.”
“I know this is all new for you. But try not to panic at the dress shop today.”
“It’s not like I choose to panic. It just… happens.”
“I know. But you’ve kept yourself away from people for so long. It’s time you immerse yourself back into society. Now, make me proud today.”
“You’re really letting me go outside? What if I try to run?”
“I’m sending a guard with you. One for your protection. And two because I’m not na?ve, Katya. I figured you would try to run. The guard will make sure you don’t.”
Alek is keeping me trapped. He is forcing himself to become my future.
And I’m powerless to stop it.
