Epilogue
REBEKAH
Eight Months Later
I giggled at the package on Seth’s desk. I was finally going to be able to add my own little touch to the armory. I pulled out my phone and texted Donovan.
Rebekah: It finally came in! I can’t wait to see Beau’s reaction when he sees it.
Donovan: I’m glad that it made it there safely. Good luck!
Rebekah: Thanks, lol. Are we still having dinner and game night this week?
Donovan: I wouldn’t miss it for anything
Donovan, Daddy, and I had a standing dinner and game night at least once a month.
It was rough in the beginning, trying to nurture a relationship after everything that happened, but I realized that I didn’t want to lose out on getting to know my father.
I didn’t have any biological family left besides him, and I didn’t want to let the opportunity pass me by.
I had a found family in Daddy and the men who worked with him, but this was different. Plus, Daddy encouraged me to get to know Donovan. He knew how important it was to have family around.
After slipping my phone into my back pocket, I grabbed the box from Seth’s desk and darted out of the room.
In the armory, I made my way over to the shelf that held all the shiny explosive devices.
Carefully, I opened the box and pulled out the glitter bomb inside.
Donovan had helped me search for one, but when I couldn’t find what I was looking for, he’d commissioned someone to make it for me.
I gently placed my glitter bomb beside the others on the shelf and then snuck out of the room before Daddy could catch me. Once I’d thrown the box into the trash outside, I made my way into Daddy’s office and dropped onto the couch.
“All done playing games with Seth?”
“Yep! I kicked his butt at Mario Kart again for the fifth time this week.”
“That’s my girl.”
There was a knock at the door, and we both turned to where Josh was fighting back his laughter.
“Uh, Boss?”
“What do you want, asshole?”
“Daddy! That’s another dollar in the swear jar!”
I giggled as Daddy pulled out his wallet and handed me a crisp dollar bill. Folding it and placing it in my pocket, I turned back to Josh.
“I was walking by the armory and noticed the door slightly ajar.”
My heart began to race. I thought that I had closed the door all the way when I slipped out. Daddy’s eyes darted toward me, and I immediately turned away. He would be able to tell that I was up to no good.
“You might want to come take a look, Boss.”
I watched Daddy get up and walk out of the room toward the armory. There was a moment of silence before I heard Daddy yell, “Rebekah Leigh Simpson!” I got up and made my way back to the armory.
“Yes, Daddy?” I replied from the doorway
“Why is there a glitter bomb on my shelf?”
I started to giggle before he had even finished his question.
“Because every good soldier needs a glitter bomb, Daddy.”
Daddy rolled his eyes at my statement, letting out a sigh. “What am I going to do with you?”
“Love me?”
“Always, Sweets.”
