Chapter 20 #2

As if he can read my mind, the burn of the kiss slows into something more gentle.

He presses closer and closer. My hands encircle his waist, and he twines a leg around my leg.

He drags his fingers through my hair and I shudder.

I pour everything I’m too afraid to say into the kiss, and he responds in kind.

The energy shifts from frenetic and desperate to something more.

Something infused with promises, security, and acceptance.

For all the words we’ve spoken about making this thing between us into something more, there’s been a niggling in the back of my head that they’re just that, words.

But this kiss annihilates any doubts. This kiss codifies, transforming our intentions into a decree neither of us will break.

He pulls away and I chase his mouth. More kisses, more of this feeling that I belong to him and he belongs to me. “Bath,” he says against my lips, letting the leg that pinned me drop to the marble floor. “I promised you relaxation.” He gives me a gentle shove and I step back. “Strip.”

“Bossy. I like it.” I unbutton my shirt in record time, and toss it onto the floor while Ever starts the water and pours the entire bottle of the hotel bubble bath into it.

Encased in the same white marble as the flooring, the tub is big enough to fit a small party and were I by myself, the thought of utilizing it would not have occurred to me. I unbuckle my belt, unfastening my pants and dropping them with my boxer briefs.

Ever looks up from the water, his gaze heating as it skates over my naked body, from top to bottom and back again. “If you like bossy, then get in.”

“Yes, sir.” I wink and he shakes his head, lips smirking, and he gives my ass a playful swat, the slight sting going to my full cock.

A lavender-scented steam fills the bathroom, infusing the room with a tranquility that is better than any spa.

Though it could also have something to do with the man disrobing, his gaze consuming me like he has spent a life eating spam and just discovered Kobe beef.

I suck in a breath when my foot hits the scalding water.

“Too hot?” Ever asks, kicking his pants to the pile of my clothes.

I lower myself into the bubbles and water, the heat loosening my muscles. “Just takes a minute to get used to.”

He slides behind me, arms and legs on either side of my body, encircling my middle. My head drops back, resting on his chest as mountains of bubbles surround us. His chest rises and falls on a contented exhale. “This is nice.”

We sit for a while; me trailing my fingers along his thighs and shins under the cloud of bubbles and water, and him drawing lazy circles across my chest and stomach.

Behind me, his semi-hard cock pressing against my back stiffens, as his fingers dip lower and lower until they’re wrapped around my dick, pumping me.

A low groan scrapes from my throat as my hips move on their own, thrusting into his grip. “Feels so good.”

“Just relax and let me take care of you.” He places open-mouthed kisses up and down my neck, washing me with each caress.

I nod and do as he says, letting him take care of me. With each languid stroke, my hips pitch forward, searching for more.

“I’ve got you,” he whispers, tightening his grip. The relief of more pressure is short-lived, though.

“Need more,” I pant, digging my fingers into his thighs.

He increases the speed, the water sloshing with every jerk of my cock. “I know what you need.” Rock hard, his cock jolts against my back. With his free hand, he tweaks my nipple, unleashing a ripple of shivers. “And I will do everything in my power to give it to you.”

“Yes.”

He captures my mouth with a possessiveness I didn’t know I liked, and I melt into him, giving him everything he wants and demanding the same from him.

His palm slides over my length, while his other hand continues to pinch and pluck my overly sensitive nipples.

Every breath catches in my lungs before toppling out into the humid air.

Every nerve ending on fire and ready to explode.

Higher and higher I climb, wobbly and unsteady.

“I’m close,” I pant.

“Let go, baby. I’ll catch you.”

Sparks ignite, detonating and flinging me out of this realm as I soar, then crash with a roar. Ever’s name on my lips. But instead of hitting the ground, I land softly with gentle kisses, tender words, and strong arms.

“I love you.” It’s barely more than a whisper, but I hear it as clear as if he announced it through a bullhorn, and for the second time in minutes, I’m flying. My heart leaps out of my chest to fasten itself to his.

This man gave me the strength to surrender, then caught me like he said he would, and for the first time in years, my future is clear.

I scoot around, water and what’s left of the bubbles, splashing over the edge of the tub, until I’m straddling him.

Taking his face in my hands, I hope my eyes show everything I feel for him. “I love you too.”

“Good.” His arms band around my middle and he spears me with his beaming smile. Contentment balloons from my chest.

“Very good,” I repeat, then kiss the hell out of him.
