Chapter 2

Flynn – a man who has no clue his definition of temptation has arrived on the island to torture him

Flynn

“F lynn!” The mayor smiles in greeting as I enter the town hall of Smuggler’s Rest.

“Ms. Mayor.”

She giggles. “I’ve told you to call me Lana a million times.”

But she adores it when I call her Ms. Mayor.

“If I were a decade younger, I’d snap you away as my treasure.” She winks and I chuckle. Lana is at least sixty to my thirty-five. Age is only a number but I’m a little young to have a partner who has grandchildren.

“I think your current husband might disagree with your idea.”

She waves away my comment. “Ronald wouldn’t mind. He says he needs a break from my sexual prowess from time to time. You can be my piece on the side.”

“Sorry, darling. I’m no one’s second choice.”

She sighs. “Too bad I promised myself husband number three would be my last.”

“I’m sure Ronald appreciates your sacrifice.”

“He does enjoy it when we play dress up and I sacrifice my virginity to him.”

I bark out a laugh. Lana is a hoot.

“Is there a reason you rang me this morning or are you paying me to flirt with you?”

She waggles her eyebrows. “Flirting with me is a bonus.” She clears her throat. “But we are having a problem with the plumbing in the women’s bathroom.”

I’m not surprised. Plumbing in this old building is often an issue. Add how the building is located on an island and my services are needed nearly weekly. Lucky for me, it’s usually a quick fix.

“Which floor?”

“Third floor.” She motions toward the staircase in the middle of the foyer. “Don’t mind me. I’ll just be standing here.”

I pat her shoulder. “I understand. It’s impossible to resist watching me walk up the stairs.”

I gather up my supplies before beginning the climb to the top floor of the building. The town hall in Smuggler’s Rest is over a hundred years old. Legend has it the building was used as storage during Prohibition. During the summer, there are even tours for tourists to explore the secret passageways in the building.

The island of Smuggler’s Hideaway relies on its past as a known hideaway for smuggler’s during Prohibition to fuel tourism and the economy. Although, in more recent years, other businesses have opened up to help raise revenue.

Five Fathoms Brewing and Buccaneer’s Whiskey and Distillery are good examples. My body tightens the same way it always does whenever I think of Five Fathoms and, in particular, one of its owners.

Rumor has it Sophia is back in town, but I haven’t asked her brother, Weston, for confirmation. My best friend would not be amused if he knew how often I think of his little sister. Especially since my musings mostly occur while I’m naked in the shower with my hand on my cock.

“Thank goodness, you’re here,” Jennifer says when I reach the top floor.

Jennifer is the town secretary and is prone to dramatics. I usually think she’s a hoot. But not when my mind is preoccupied with thoughts of Sophia.

I force thoughts of Sophia away. “I’m here to save the day.”

She clutches her chest. “Thank you, Flynn. Shall I show you the problem?”

“I got it.”

She ignores my dismissal and follows me as I make my way to the ladies' restroom. “It’s the third stall. The other stalls are fine, but the third one is clogged.”

I open the restroom door and note the water on the ground. I hold back my sigh as I dig my phone out of my pocket to let my crew know I won’t be on site until later today.

“It’s warm in here. Almost too warm. Do you think the air conditioner is broken?”

I glance over my shoulder to answer Jennifer and note she’s no longer alone. The mayor Lana has joined her along with several other women.

“Ladies.” I nod at them, and they giggle in response.

I return my attention to the job and gather the tools I need. I’m used to the women at city hall and their antics by now.

“Is it hot in here?”

“He should probably remove his shirt.”

“You’re cheating.”

“How am I cheating?”

“You can’t suggest he remove his shirt when you bet he would.”

“There’s no rule about suggestions.”

I chuckle as I open the stall door to study the toilet. I spot a red item in the bowl. I put on my work gloves before digging around in the water to remove the item – a red, lacy bra. I carry it to the women watching from the doorway.

“Whose bra is this?” I ask as I hold it up.

“It’s mine,” Jennifer declares and I raise an eyebrow. The bra I’m holding is obviously for a well-endowed woman. Jennifer is not well-endowed.

Her cheeks blaze. “I mean I bought it.”

“You bought it to stuff down the toilet?”

Lana gasps. “You stuffed the bra down the toilet on purpose?”

Jennifer rolls her eyes. “You know darn well I did. How else was I supposed to get Flynn to show up today?”

“I’m the town’s official handyman. I’m here often enough for real plumbing issues.”

“But today’s my day.”

I flick the bra onto the counter and cross my arms over my chest. “Explain.”

“Oh, his t-shirt is getting wet. He’s going to have to remove his shirt now,” another woman from the mayor’s office says.

“If you ladies want to see me without a shirt on, all you have to do is go on down to the beach when I’m surfing.”

“Our husbands yelled at us for following you around.”

I shake my head. “How do your husbands put up with you?”

Lana winks. “Trust me. I’m worth it.”

“Me too.” Jennifer nods. “I watched this YouTube video on how to please a man with my mouth. It was very informative. I never realized how sensitive—”

I hold up my hand to stop her. I don’t need lessons on how to give a blow job. I already know exactly what I enjoy and how I enjoy it.

A vision of a woman with long, blonde curly hair pops into my mind. I would love to fist those curls while she’s on her knees in front of me. My cock twitches.

I clear my throat before I end up getting hard in front of the mayor and her entourage. I’d never hear the end of it if that happened.

“If this is about some bet…”

I swear the women in the mayor’s office spend more time betting than working. Add in the amount of gossip they share and I’d be surprised if they get any work done at all.

“Not some bet,” Lana insists.

“ The bet,” Jennifer adds.

“Which you are now going to lose,” Lana says to Jennifer.

Another woman raises her hand. “I’m not losing. I’m winning.”

Lana rolls her eyes. “Prudish Melanie wins again.”

“It’s not prudish to believe men should remain properly dressed while working on a job,” Melanie insists.

“Easy for her to say. Her husband doesn’t care if she follows you around like a puppy dog,” Jennifer mutters.

“Because my husband reaps the benefits once I’ve caught sight of Flynn without his shirt on.”

I remove my gloves and attach them to my utility belt. I need to get back to the job site if there’s no work to be done here.

“I’ll stop by maintenance and ask them to mop up the water on my way out of the building.”

Lana nods. “Thanks for your prompt service.”

“Pull anymore stunts and my service won’t be prompt any longer.”

“You have a contract with the city.”

“Good thing there’s nothing about response times in the contract.” I wink as I pass her. She opens her mouth to protest but my phone rings before she can speak. “Gotta answer this.”

“What’s up?” I ask Gary. He’s my foreman at the job site.

“The manager of your apartment building phoned. A tenant is complaining about the water in her apartment.”

I frown. “Why doesn’t he handle it himself?”

“He claims there’s nothing wrong. The water should be fine.”

I grunt. I guess I won’t be making it to the job site anytime soon after all.

“You want me to handle it, boss?” Gary asks.

“Nah. I can swing by the building on my way to the site.”

I stop by maintenance and let them know about the mess in the upstairs ladies’ room. Judging by his response, he already knew the ladies from the mayor’s office were up to no good.

I jump in my truck and note the time. Shit. It’s nearly lunchtime already. I dial Weston’s number as I drive away from town hall.

“Hey, bro,” my best friend greets. “Are you on your way to Bootlegger ?”

“I have to bail on lunch. I need to deal with some tenant who’s complaining her water isn’t working.”

He chuckles. “You get the most epic booty calls.”

“I hope it’s not a booty call. I’ve had enough of women and their scheming this morning,” I begin and continue to explain what happened at town hall.

“Your life is a damn rom-com,” he says through laughter once I finish my tale.

“Nothing romantic about it.”

“I forgot. The famous Flynn isn’t interested in romance. One and done should be your middle name.”

I scowl. “I think you’re confusing us. I’m not the one who uses his uniform to pick up tourists.”

“I can’t help it if women love a man in uniform.”

I park in front of my apartment building. “Gotta go. Raincheck for lunch.”

I climb out of my truck. This tenant’s problem better be real and not another stunt.
