Chapter 2
Chapter
Two
Music blasted as we walked through the doors at the lake house where the party was being held. People looked like they’d been here all day partying, drunken laughter and smeared makeup everywhere we looked.
A few people from school waved at us, and I spotted Kaye easily where he was leaning against the wall in the living room in an orange prisoner jumpsuit, watching as Alec and Warren, who were also in orange jumpsuits, flirted with a slutty cat.
Kaye’s eyes shifted in our direction, going wide when he saw us.
My black skirt was tight and short, my black strappy heels making my legs look longer. I had a short sleeve white blouse on that only just covered my chest, tied with a knot just below my breasts to expose my stomach.
I’d given my eyes a smokey look with thick black framed glasses, and bright red lipstick coated my lips. I’d considered putting my hair in a bun but decided this sexy librarian was going to leave it out with a wavy tangled look.
I did a little spin for him, batting my lashes. “So, is this what you thought a sexy librarian would look like?”
“Warren’s going to flip the fuck out,” he chuckled, assessing me.
“Do you think I’ll get laid in this?”
He frowned, meeting my gaze. “That’s why you dressed like that?”
“C’mon, I bet even you’d want to fuck her right now,” Maisie teased, motioning to me. “Tell her how hot she looks.”
“Be careful tonight,” he said instead, pushing off the wall and walking away.
“Definitely a virgin,” she muttered, her eyes landing on someone behind me. “I bet you’ve got a raging boner too, right? Kaye’s just being sensitive.”
I turned, finding Alec and Warren behind me. Alec was studying me, his eyes on my tits, but Warren was glaring at my face.
“Go put some clothes on,” he scolded, making me grin.
“Do you know how much easier it will be to hook up with someone like this?” I said bluntly, his eyes narrowing.
“Rose—”
“I’m a grown woman. Back off,” I warned, and Alec finally spoke.
“You look like a slut.”
“I’m so glad you think so. That’s what I was going for,” I smirked, running my fingers up his chest. He swatted my hand away, looking annoyed.
“You won’t find a nice guy if you dress up like that. You’ll attract the wrong attention.”
“You think I want a nice guy?” I laughed, crossing my arms. “What I want is to be fucked within an inch of my life.”
“Be careful what you wish for,” he said sharply before stalking off, most likely to find Kaye.
Warren shook his head before following, and Maisie gave me a bright smile.
“Well, that went better than I thought. C’mon, slutty book lady. Let’s go find a drink!”
She took my hand and dragged me through a crowd of people to where the drinks were, and I poured one, lifting it to my mouth to take a sip.
The burn made me wince, but I pushed past it. I’d have a couple, but if they were this strong, I needed to pace myself a little.
We danced for a while, letting the bass wash through us as we let loose.
I caught sight of Warren and the guys a few times, but they thankfully stayed away.
They’d met up with a few other guys, so their attention was finally shifting to their own conversations instead of worrying about what I was doing.
Some random guy danced with us for a while, and Maisie gave me pleading eyes, silently asking me to let her have him. He’d been paying her more attention anyway, so I excused myself to use the bathroom, leaving them alone.
The line to the bathroom was long, and my small buzz had worn off by the time it was my turn. I was quick, almost running into Alec on my way back out.
“Stalker much?” I huffed, and he rolled his eyes as he grabbed my bicep, pulling me towards a quiet corner.
“You need to stay with Maisie. There’s creeps everywhere tonight, Rose. How drunk are you?” he demanded, grabbing my chin to look in my eyes.
“I’ve had one drink, I’m sober,” I scoffed, grabbing his wrist to pull him off me. “I don’t need babysitting.”
“Anyone could be behind the masks in here tonight.”
“What do you think will happen? I’m in a crowded room with you assholes glaring at me.”
“I don’t know, that’s the problem,” he growled, looking frustrated.
“What are you two doing in a dark corner?” Warren grunted as he appeared beside us, leaning back on the wall as he surveyed the room.
“She’s wandering around alone,” he answered, a light laugh leaving me.
“I went to the bathroom and I’m sober. Jesus, Alec. You’re acting like there’s a mass murderer in here. Excuse me.”
I pushed past him and headed back through the crowd to look for Maisie, finding her with her tongue down the guy’s throat. Her hands were in his hair as they felt each other up, so I decided not to interrupt and grabbed a fresh drink instead.
They’d vanished by the time I got back, and I did a double-take when I noticed someone watching me.
There was a man in all black with a mask on, the red neon lights that were crossed over his eyes casting the rest of the mask in shadows. He was staring at me, I could feel it.
He lifted a hand in a little wave, making me frown as I glanced around the room to try and spot Alec, thinking he was pranking me by trying to prove a point about people being creepy, but I spotted him talking to a group of people across the room, Kaye and Warren with him.
When I looked back at the man, he was gone, a trickle of fear skating down my spine.
Was I imagining things? Had he even been there?
Mind made up, I walked in the direction I’d seen him, scanning the crowded room in the dim light to try and find proof of his existence, but he was nowhere to be seen.
I put my drink down, deciding I’d had enough if I was fucking hallucinating, but then I spotted him again out the window. He was staring again, standing outside in the yard surrounded by people partying, and I quickly walked to the door to look outside.
Again, he’d vanished.
Frustration clawed at my insides as I walked out and wove through the crowd, spotting him once more.
“Hey! Stop!” I called out, but he took off towards the trees, a huff of annoyance leaving me. “This motherfucker.”
I pulled my heels off and followed with them clutched in my hand, checking behind trees as I moved further away from the party.
I winced as a stick snapped under my foot and dug into my skin, suddenly very aware that the only sound around me was the distant music, my own breathing, and crickets.
How long had I been wandering out here?
“Hello? Look, asshole, I don’t know who you think you are, but—” A shriek left me as I turned around and bumped into someone, my eyes lifting to find the masked man looking down at me. “Who the fuck—”
My voice was cut off as he lifted a finger to where his mouth would be under the mask, the movement only visible due to the neon lights on the mask that covered his whole face.
“Run.” It was the only word he said, fear flickering inside me.
I tried to reach out to grab the mask, but a knife appeared in his hand and I took a step back, a sinister chuckle leaving him.
I spun around and took off, his heavy footsteps thumping behind me and making my heart almost beat straight out of my chest.
Darting past trees, I tried to figure out which way led me back to the party, but it was dark as fuck and I’d come so deep into the woods that even the music seemed to just be all around us in the distance.
I tripped and ran straight into a solid chest, confusing me slightly.
How the fuck had he gotten in front of me?
Running left, I got far enough away that I couldn’t hear anyone following me, and I slowed to a walk as I tried to get my bearings. I pressed my back against a tree and tried to calm my breathing, closing my eyes for a second.
My feet hurt. I’d probably cut them on sticks and rocks.
Who was this guy? Was it a prank? A crazy person?
The knife kind of made me think that they were crazy. It didn’t look fake.
I opened my eyes and my head smacked against the tree as I startled, finding the glowing red mask right in front of me. I hadn’t even heard their footsteps.
“What do you want?” I forced out in a stern voice, trying not to let my nerves show, but my voice shook a little.
They tilted their head, and I tensed as I felt their fingers touch my bare waist and trail up my ribs slightly, a shudder rolling through me. I knew I was losing my mind when I reached out to press my palm to their chest, their heartbeat thudding against it.
“Who are you?” I whispered, his face coming closer until he was right beside my ear.
“Does it matter?”
“I’ll scream,” I warned, a dark chuckle coming from him as he pulled back a little.
“I was hoping you would. I bet it sounds so pretty too.”
My hand slid down his chest to his stomach, and I hesitated before slipping it under his shirt to feel his warm skin. I was mesmerized by the glow on his mask, swallowing hard as he stared right back at me, silently waiting to see what I’d do.
Sticks snapped and I looked to the right, confusion, fear, and excitement all hitting me at once. Another mask glowed red, telling me we weren’t alone.
“You going to be a good girl and get on your knees for us?” the man I was feeling up asked, drawing my attention back to him. He lifted the knife to my chest, dragging the blunt side of the blade down between my breasts, the cool metal making me shiver.
My breath hitched as he dropped a hand to my outer thigh, sliding it up under my skirt. His fingers were rough, and I absently tilted my hips forward, wanting more of his touch.
I was fucking insane. I had no idea who these guys were, but they were igniting something inside me. Something dark and sinful.
Silently, I lowered myself to my knees in front of him and dropped my heels beside me, peering up at him as he watched me.
“Get my cock out,” he ordered as he tossed the knife to the ground, my hands lifting to his jeans to unbutton them.
Sticks and leaves dug into my knees, but I barely felt it as I freed his cock, fisting him and leaning forward to lick the tip.
