GENDARMERIE MARITIME DE POLYNéSIE FRAN?AISE

POLICE EXHIBIT TWELVE

Transcript of call from Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre to Chief of Police Henri Robert

M Robert: This is Chief Robert.

Operator: Monsieur Robert, this is [NAME REDACTED], on the maritime distress emergency call response team.

M Robert: Go ahead, but be brief, please – we have a major incident unfolding here.

Operator: Copy that. This concerns the distress call made from the Lusso di Mare a few moments ago reporting a male passenger deceased on board.

M Robert: Do you have information relating to the case?

Operator: Well, I’m not sure – maybe. But CROSS Papeete called into us about two hours ago reporting an injury to a male passenger on the same vessel.

M Robert: On the same … I see. And what were the circumstances?

Operator: This passenger fell during a patch of rough weather. They requested medical assistance.

M Robert: And this is the same yacht that just reported the deceased passenger on board? You’re sure about that? And the same caller?

Operator: Correct, Chief. Same captain, same crew, same passenger list.

M Robert: Do we know if this was also the passenger – did Captain … ah … Taylor report the casualty’s name to the coastguard?

Operator: Negative, sir.

M Robert: I see. Log the call as a priority notification. I want the full transcript too, please. If they were already on high alert, how did they end up with someone dead?
