Mini Testimony

Sometimes, God sends just who you think He can’t use to help you.

Thirteen years ago, we’d just moved back out to the rural area where we live now.

At the time, we were fixing my grandparents’ old house in order to live there, and we were staying with my father.

I went out to the garden to water it, even though I knew I couldn’t leave my newborn for long.

He cried anytime he woke when I wasn’t around.

My dad’s yard was rutted. It had once been a field, and he’d stopped really caring for it years before.

He mowed, that was about it. While outside, I twisted my ankle so badly, I couldn’t stand back up.

I had spinal issues and had already had the first of two back surgeries at that point.

The shooting pain told me I’d done damage, and I’d better not push too hard to try to get up.

My oldest took over. She sent her younger sister to get their father, who happened to be at the house we would eventually move into, farther up the driveway.

She told him, then returned to me and sat with me like we were having tea.

It took a while. My husband didn’t realize I was out on the lawn.

He’d thought I was inside with the kids.

My poor oldest was only nine at the time but handled a crying infant as best she could and her toddler brother.

My younger daughter kept me company. I wanted so badly to be a good mom, to fix everything.

To make sure they were never uncomfortable.

God showed me in that moment that He was the one who would do that job.

He would care for my babies even better than I could. I needed that lesson.

The hubby came after about a half hour, helped me into the house and got an ice pack for me. We both thanked our girls for stepping up when they were needed. I never would’ve asked them to do what they did, but because they were wise, even so young, they knew what to do.
