Bellanca rolled over in bed and slapped Carver on the chin. “Sorry,” she mumbled, pulling her hand back.
He groaned. “That’s one way to wake up. I thought we’d established that you don’t need to hit me anymore.”
“I never hit you. I burned you a lot…”
He turned his head, and his silvery eyes caught the morning light. “I have scars, you know? One of my eyebrows never fully grew back.”
Wiggling closer to him, she tucked herself against his side and spread her hand over his tattooed chest, lightly tracing the marks. “I like your eyebrow that way. It reminds me of how much fun we used to have.”
“ Used to have?” The brow in question rose.
She bit back a smile. “You’re so boring now. No threats. No storming off in a huff. No cheating at competitions so you can actually beat me for once.”
He snorted. “You didn’t seem bored last night. And I think we both won.”
Sensations fluttered in her belly. She could still feel him inside her, feel his hands on her body, his mouth… Heat swirled through her, thudding low. “Hmm. If you say so. I don’t even remember last night.”
Carver pulled her on top of him, his voice a deep growl. “That’s a blatant lie and definitely an invitation to remind you of exactly what we did.”
Bellanca closed her eyes, letting her body go slack. “I’m sleeping.”
“Sleep is for the weak.” He gripped her naked backside and squeezed.
Her eyes popped open. “I think there’s a sword between us. Something’s poking me.”
His lips twitched. “Glad you noticed.”
“Are you sure it’s where it’s supposed to be?”
“Almost.” Carver flipped her over so fast the room spun. Bellanca laughed, her knees coming up, and then gasped as he slid down her body, heatedly kissing her neck and chest. “Are you remembering last night better now?” he asked.
She shook her head. “Not really.”
“You’re impossible,” he murmured, lingering on her breasts.
She arched into him, offering an already tightening nipple to his roving mouth. “So I’ve been told.”
Chuckling, he moved down, his breath swirling against her navel. He dipped his tongue in and out, and her breathing sped up, anticipation heating her blood to fire.
He gripped her thighs, squeezing with just the right pressure as he spread them wider. “We’ve established equal rights for women in , which means you get to climax first.”
Bellanca looked down her body at him, arousal throbbing between her legs. “Wouldn’t that mean we climax together?”
“Stop arguing and enjoy it,” he rasped against her core. His tongue slid over her, and her breath came out in a rush, her heated senses already aching for more. “That’s it,” he praised as he lifted her to his mouth, relentlessly tonguing the sensitive spot that made her see stars. “Get ready. Get wet. Because I’m about to fuck you long and hard.”
Rough words in a rough voice made all her muscles clench, and she ignited, inside and out. She moaned. They’d scorched more sheets than she could count.
Clutching the bedding, she tipped her head back. “Don’t stop. Carver. Oh gods.” Pleasure tore through her, and she writhed, single-mindedly seeking satisfaction as she burned. He brought her almost to the peak and then waited, his breath caressing her skin. Excitement flamed inside her. Her whole body coiled tight with need. He still didn’t move, and she snapped her head up. Their eyes locked, and she frowned.
He quirked that damn brow again. “Is that ache inside you begging for release?”
She narrowed her eyes. Absolutely, though she wouldn’t admit it.
He dipped his head and slowly licked her, his searing gaze never leaving her face. “You’re my dessert for breakfast. Hot cherry magic, all over my tongue.”
Her mouth fell open, her naked chest rising and falling on hard breaths. Reaching for his hair, she tugged. The deep rumble of his moan sank into her, the vibration setting off sparks. She squeezed her muscles, every sensation amplified by the fire racing through her blood.
Carver pulled her legs over his shoulders, lifted her bottom, and brought her body like a feast to his mouth. She climaxed in seconds, magic streaking across her closed eyelids. The long, gentle licks he gave her as she trembled made her skin tingle all over. She sank into the smoldering sheets.
His storm-gray eyes glittered. “Now do you remember last night?”
A puddle of molten lava, she said, “You’re asking a lot. I’m not sure I remember my own name right now.”
His soft chuckle husky with desire, he moved up her body and settled between her legs. “As long as you remember my name—and pant it in my ear while you come all over my cock.”
Her eyes flared, and heat blazed inside her again, chasing the sex-induced lethargy from her limbs. Giving him a look that promised every bit of wildness and fire she had in her, she wiggled a little, tilted her hips, and impaled herself on his shaft. She groaned at the same time he did.
“ Gods , yes,” Carver breathed out. “Bel.” Caging her in the warmth of his arms, he started moving. “I’m going to fuck you until you burn down the bed,” he promised in a guttural voice.
She exhaled sharply. This was their fifth bed already—far from anything flammable that could endanger the rest of the castle—and it was already well-charred. “That sounds like a challenge I’m up for.”
Heat shot through Carver’s eyes, and his lips curled in a smile that was all him—cocky smirk, roguish promises, and a devotion so steadfast it would outlast worlds.
He thrust inside her, setting her sparking from head to toe. Flames sizzled down her arms. There was nothing like when they joined, when they were one, just like their souls. Fire and magic. Lust and love. A connection that went deeper than any ocean and raged harder than any storm.
“Don’t stop, Carver. Don’t ever stop.” She’d once feared intimacy, and now she craved him like a drug. They both had an addiction these days—each other. She never second-guessed a thing from the moment they touched, and she only wanted more, closer, everywhere. Always. In this lifetime, and in the next.
And just as Carver promised, she panted his name while she climaxed in a wash of flames, he throbbed his own heavy release inside her, and they sank together, sated, into their burning bed.
This is a life. And soon, they’d be three.
She smiled, wrapped in Carver’s arms, her heart ablaze, happy and at peace.
