Chapter Eighteen
Cujo
Mine.
Die, fucker.
Perched on the roof, I train the sight of my gun on the middle of Gy’s back. I may not be a professional sniper like Puppy, but the unaware Alpha down below is a big enough target that I can’t miss.
Gytrash. Brother. Vice President. And the asshole currently holding hands with my omega as they wander in the direction of the dog kennels… or his cabin.
I swear, if they veer toward his home, there’ll be no stopping me. It would be so fucking easy to end his life right here, right now. Gy and Willow aren’t bonded yet, and a bullet in the head will make sure they never do.
My scent-match.
My omega.
My obsession.
As the pair walks, Gy’s back suddenly tenses, sensing my gun’s scope. His head whips around, searching for the threat. Pathetic. I’ve been here for at least ten minutes, plotting his demise. If I were an enemy combatant, he’d be long dead by now. Fucking fool.
With pitiful instincts like that, how will he ever keep an omega as precious as Willow safe?
Gy frowns at the rooftop, but he’s looking in the wrong spot. Useless. I’m embarrassed for him. Our VP doesn’t find me, but still flips me off behind his back, knowing someone’s watching. The Alpha continues on his merry way, and fury bubbles in my guts. Fear me, fucker.
But I don’t pull the trigger. One can’t go around killing their brothers because they’re scent-matched to the same omega. Plus, it will piss off everyone, Cerberus, Orthos, maybe even Willow.
And chewing off my own arm would be preferable to doing anything to harm my honeybee.
The gentle scrape of climbing feet behind me triggers the hair to stand up on the back of my neck. Taking a deep breath, I catch Fenrir’s scent on the wind.
“Pres’ll be pissed if you kill his VP.” Fen flops down next to me unceremoniously, pulling out a package of Junior Mints and a can of Coke.
His appearance ruins the whole moment, and I set my rifle down to glare at him.
Ignoring my anger, he pulls out a box of Mike and Ike’s and a Mountain Dew Code Red, passing them my way.
“I guess you’ll survive another day,” I grouch at him, and he just chuckles and shakes his head, unaffected. Nothing fazes Fen. Maybe one day he’ll meet his own scent-match.
Blessing? Curse? It’s too early to tell. All I know is that I want to find out.
“Dude, you love me. You’d kill for me.” He’s joking, but it’s true.
Killing to protect my MC brotherhood is something I’ve done before and would do again without question.
Especially for Fen. My birth parents abandoned me at such a young age that I don’t remember them.
The Hellbent Hounds are the family I’ve forged, and I love the fuckers. Even that piece of shit, Gy.
“I heard you were looking for me earlier, though?” Oh right. That. Unable to tear my eyes from my honeybee as she arrives at the kennels, I split my focus between her and explaining my request to Fen.
“Yeah, I’ve got some searching for you to do.” Energy crackles through him. There’s nothing Fenrir loves more than a puzzle and a chance to use his hacking skills. And this one’s big.
After this morning’s run-in with Calloway, I need him to hunt down any and all information he can find on Willow…
if that’s even her name. Not that I fucking care.
She’s mine. And whatever demons she has following her have never met a monster like me.
I’ll chew them up, spit them out, and then piss on their graves.
“See that gorgeous omega down there?” He looks down and nods, his gaze flowing over her form too familiarly. “Eyes on me!”
“You told me to look at her.” The Alpha rolls his eyes, but brings his attention back, where it belongs.
“Changed my mind. That’s Willow. She’s mine. Need you to do a deep dive. Get whatever you can. Probably need to use facial recognition and shit. You know, your whole computer wizard thing. I want to know every single fucking thing about her.”
Fen jingles his candy box, searching for his last Junior Mint before tossing it into his mouth. “Got it. Gonna need a picture of her. Can you handle that without tearing me apart?” Always a smartass.
“Fuck you.” He chuckles.
“Am I looking for anything specific? Criminal record and stuff like that? Or are we thinking there’s something up?” I struggle with what to tell him, but ultimately, he’s my brother, and he’s always had my back. If my omega’s safety is at risk, he’s who I’d want by my side.
Sighing, I open up, which I fucking hate doing. “I snuck into her house this morning, only to find a federal agent pointing a gun at me.” A whistle leaves his lips, and his eyebrows rise almost to his hairline.
“Holy crap, a fed?” He kicks his feet up on the ledge, making himself comfortable. “That’s usually some serious shit. And if she’s just sitting in a house doing whatever she damn well pleases, that can only mean one thing…”
I wait for him to connect the dots.
“Yup. It’s unconfirmed, but my guess is she’s a federal asset.” His mouth drops open.
“So, WITSEC?” Fen says the word that’s been running through my mind since I spotted Calloway. “That’s bad, man. The feds do their best to keep omegas out of the program because of how hard it is to keep them isolated like that.”
Fuck. He’s right. I hadn’t even considered that angle. Maybe it’s good that she has two highly skilled brothers as scent-matches. I don’t like it, but I think I’m gonna need to learn to share.
And I should probably start with this information…
“Guess you’d better get on it.” I stare at him until he sits up and starts moving. There’s no time to waste. I need to know what I’m up against.
“Jeez, boss. Crack that whip,” he complains with a huff, then gives me a fake salute before shuffling over to the exit.
“I want this brought directly to me, not Cerberus,” I demand before he disappears over the ledge.
Fen raps his knuckles in acknowledgment before departing.
Once he’s gone, my mind flips through the complicated mess.
I search until my eyes snag on Willow and Gy walking into that giant mastiff’s kennel.
Dammit. Doesn’t she have an ounce of self-preservation?
Looks like that’s my job. Protecting my precious jewel from everything. Even herself…
