Chapter 24 #2
Kenny realized he was high, but not so high that he’d forgotten what Frank had lectured him about using a condom when sleeping with a woman. The only exception would be making love with his wife. Larissa wasn’t his wife, and at eighteen, he had no intention of becoming a father.
Pulling back the blanket, he placed her on the mattress, then walked over to a chest of drawers to retrieve several condoms he’d secreted under several T-shirts.
Returning to the bed, he met Larissa’s eyes as she watched him slip the latex sheath over his erection.
Smiling, she extended her arms, and he got into bed with her.
Within seconds of joining their bodies, Kenneth Douglas Russell forgot almost everything he’d been warned about having girls in the house when his mother wasn’t there.
That underage drinking and smoking marijuana could lead to more addictive substances like heroin and cocaine.
And she’d pleaded with him not to make her a grandmother until he was old enough to support a woman and his children.
Kenny felt himself floating, and he knew it was from a combination of drugs and sex.
He buried his face against the column of Larissa’s scented neck when her legs circled his waist, allowing for deeper penetration.
It no longer mattered that he’d found her too aggressive for his liking, because she was offering him the best sex he’d ever had.
Larissa bit her lip when she felt the flutters in her vagina grow stronger and stronger before realizing she was going to experience an orgasm for the first time since having sex.
She’d slept with boys since turning fifteen, but was left unfulfilled and wondering why she felt nothing with them.
However, something told her the first time she smiled at Kenny, and he returned her smile, that still waters ran deep.
That his aloofness was a foil for a sensuality that could turn a woman on with a single glance.
She could feel the heat of his body course down hers, from her head to her toes, as she moaned with the erotic pleasure that made her feel as if she’d been transported to a place she’d never been before.
Then, without warning, the first orgasm came, followed by others overlapping one after another.
Larissa could not disguise her body’s reaction to Kenny’s lovemaking, when they climaxed at the same time.
She didn’t know how long they lay together, their bodies joined.
Kenny lay on Larissa, supporting his greater weight on his forearms. He knew he had to get up and discard the condom but loathed pulling out of her warm body.
Larissa Rossi, drugs, and sex were a lethal combination.
He was glad she was going away for college, because if she remained in the city, then he knew it would be impossible for him to stay away from her.
“Where are you going?” she asked when he pulled out.
“I have to throw away the condom.” He had to dispose of it and clean up any evidence of their smoking and lovemaking.
Sitting up, Larissa caught his wrist. “Can I spend the night?”
Kenny looked at her as if she’d suddenly taken leave of her senses. “No.”
“Why not?”
“Because I said you can’t, that’s why.”
Her eyes grew wide. “That’s the thanks I get for letting you fuck me.”
He slowly shook his head. Kenny didn’t want to believe that because they’d made love, he would give in to her demands. “That’s where you’re wrong, Larissa. You fucked me, not the other way around. You can use the bathroom to clean yourself; then I want you to get your things and leave.”
“Fuck you, Kenny Russell!” she shouted.
He grabbed her shoulders in a firm grip. “Don’t push me,” he warned in a dangerously soft voice, “or I’ll toss your naked ass out the door, and lock it behind you. What’s it going to be?”
“I’m leaving.”
“Good.”
Kenny waited for her to go into the bathroom before he walked to the kitchen and discarded the condom in the garbage.
Now, in hindsight, he realized he’d made a grievous mistake in opening the door for Larissa Rossi.
He had to know she was clingy when he’d gone to her home after graduation.
He’d been willing to spend the rest of the afternoon with her and then escort her to her car when it came time to leave.
There was no way he was going to allow a woman to spend the night with him in his mother’s house.
If he wanted to spend a night with a woman, it would be at a hotel or motel.
He’d put on his boxers, jeans, and T-shirt by the time Larissa emerged from the bathroom fully dressed. Her eyes were red, and he assumed she had been crying. “I’ll walk you to your car.”
She shook her head, wayward curls moving with the motion. “That’s okay. I’m not parked that far away.”
“I’m sorry, Larissa,” Kenny apologized.
She nodded, smiling. “It’s okay, Kenny. I shouldn’t have tried pressuring you to do something you didn’t want to do. There are times when I know I’m too pushy.”
“And clingy,” he teased.
“That, too.”
“Please call me to let me know you got home safe.”
Larissa combed her fingers through her hair. “Does this mean we’re still friends?”
Kenny wanted to tell her they were never friends. That they’d gone from former classmates to lovers. “Of course.”
He waited for her to retrieve her purse, then walked her to the door. Lowering his head, he kissed her cheek. “Don’t forget to call me.”
Going on tiptoe, Larissa brushed her mouth over his. “I won’t.”
Kenny opened and closed the door behind her and exhaled an audible sigh. Now that Larissa was gone, he had to take a shower, get rid of what remained of the joint, strip his bed, and in a few days, take the bedding to a laundromat.
His phone rang forty minutes later, and when he picked up, it was Larissa telling him she’d made it home safely. “Can we get together again before I leave for Atlanta?”
Hell, no, girl, because you’re nothing but trouble with a capital T. But if I do agree to see you again, then there can’t be any weed or sex.
“Okay,” Kenny said, when the voice in his head was calling him every kind of fool imaginable, telling him that Larissa Rossi was a master manipulator. “I’m not certain when I’ll be called in to work, because the restaurant gets very busy in the summer.”
“That’s okay. I’m willing to wait until you have some free time.”
Kenny wanted to tell her that if he did have some free time, then he didn’t intend to spend it with her. There was no need to lead her on when he knew getting involved with her would be problematic. “Goodbye, Larissa.”
A beat passed. “Goodbye, Kenny.”
He hung up, knowing he’d deceived her. Kenny didn’t want to believe that he’d used her for sex, because she’d been the one to initiate it.
He knew if he’d been in his right mind, he would’ve rejected her.
But the pleasure he’d derived from the marijuana had clouded his judgment, and the pleasure he experienced when he’d penetrated her was too intense to disregard.
He’d admitted to his mother that he wasn’t smoking cigarettes, but she hadn’t mentioned marijuana.
Kenny didn’t know what was in the joint he shared with Larissa that had triggered an instant high. Never again. He vowed it would be the last time he would ever smoke a joint.
