Chapter 21

CHASE

Bitchy?

I don’t even try to hold back my laughter at that one.

Despite the fact that it’s rude as hell, there’s no denying that it fits Becky perfectly.

After Tim’s visit last month, I started receiving calls and emails from her asking things about the house.

Two days ago, I finally just set them to forward to my lawyer.

It feels good to be wanted by not just one, but two men so much younger than I am, but I also wonder what the hell they see in me. Sam paid the bill, so it’s not my money.

Isaiah runs off while I’m still stuck in my head, and I watch him embrace a somewhat familiar looking man in the lobby. They exchange a few words before the stranger is dragged over to us while I’m pulling my coat on.

“Mr. Kin… Chase, I mean. This is Eric Jones. He was my roommate in Baltimore and is probably my best friend aside from Brad of course.”

Sam and I smirk at the look of pride on Isaiah’s face and the indulgence on the other man’s face.

Now that I have a name, I can easily place the man before me.

Eric Jones is a solid defenseman who is only playing in the minor leagues because of a poorly timed broken wrist his second year in the pros.

He was always a challenging opponent back when he was in Juniors and came to town.

“Happy to see someone with your talent didn’t give up on the game,” I tell him and his eyes widen in shock.

Izzy gives him a hip bump and smiles even wider.

“Told ya he would remember you playing in Juniors. Mr. Kins… Chase remembers all of the guys. He’s like a hockey encyclopedia.”

The two of them start bickering like siblings while Sam leans over to whisper to me.

“Wait until he meets the Sanders family officially.”

I snort and wrap my arm around his waist to head for the door.

The two bickering boys follow us through the lobby and out to the parking lot where Jones says his farewell and climbs behind the wheel of his rental car.

After a brief discussion, Isaiah decides to ride back home with Sam while I go pack a bag to spend the rest of the holidays with them at the house.

Who knows, maybe I should start looking into putting the condo up for sale when the offseason hits.
