Chapter Seven
CHAPTER SEVEN
Bryan sat across the booth and watched Whiskey lovingly tend to his wife’s needs. Their food arrived and smelled heavenly as Samantha checked her phone for the hundredth time.
“I’m sorry, Bryan. It’s our first time away from Ari and I’m afraid I’m distracted. What did you say?” Samantha asked as she placed the phone on the table and absently patted her hand on the table, searching for her fork. Whiskey slid it closer, chuckling as he shook his head.
“We only left a half hour ago and she’s with family,” Whiskey assured her.
Samantha smiled and turned her attention to Bryan.
“Ben and I want to expand the business. Starting with your all-natural products and teas. I’m considering settling in Seattle and want your thoughts on the topic,” Bryan reiterated.
“Oh, wow,” she exclaimed. “It’s an excellent idea. Does it mean we can increase production? The locals will be thrilled to have employment here instead of driving into Seattle daily.”
“We can scout out the area. From what I understand, Kassie owns a fair amount of the town. Will it be challenging to find a good location?”
Samantha shook her head. “I’ll speak with Kassie. She’s always searching for ways to build Serenity while keeping the small-town feel. I’m optimistic she’ll support our endeavor. When do you plan to move here?”
“Honestly, I can relocate at any time. I still plan on keeping my apartment in New York. It’s a matter of how much work you’re willing to take on,” he admitted.
The smile faded from Samantha’s face. “Oh. I didn’t realize you wanted me to take on more responsibility. It might be difficult with the new baby.”
“Nonsense. I don’t expect you to add to your plate between the salon and working with me. I’ll need help finding locations and setting up to expand our vendors. I’ll narrow it down, but I want you to help make the final decision. You know the people and the area. Not to mention, with the increased production and closer shipping options, you’ll make more money.”
Whiskey smiled at his wife with pride shining in his eyes.
“Thank you, Bryan. It feels like a dream come true.” Samantha dabbed at her eyes.
“It calls for dessert.” Bryan flagged down the waiter. “I wanted to take something to Allie. She mentioned she planned on working with the puppies tonight.”
Whiskey grinned. “I’m sure she’ll appreciate it. You might want to order a steak for Hemi, too. He’s always hanging around Allie.”
Bryan frowned. “Sure.”
“I know exactly how he likes it.” Whiskey rose from the booth. “Allie loves the steak salad with balsamic dressing. I think I’ll go back and give my compliments to Ty on this meal. Do you want me to place the order?”
Bryan nodded. Did Allie have a boyfriend? The thought made his food feel heavy in his stomach. He liked her. It seemed he couldn’t escape the lure of the Serenity women. He only wished they stayed single long enough for him to find one.
