Chapter Twelve #2
“You never meant for her to find out. Now, she has, and she has to deal with it. On top of that, she now carries your child. Larissa always had a plan. Find a man, fall in love, get married, have kids, lots of kids, and live happily ever after. That was her dream.”
And he’d broken that dream.
“One day, she will forgive you. She will get over what has happened. She’d never turn your child against you. Right now, she needs time to heal, and then she will be able to handle everything.”
Big Dick didn’t want her to heal.
“You mean fall out of love with me, don’t you?”
“You broke her heart. Now, you can either let her heal and fall out of love with you, or you can fix this yourself.” Jonah stepped back inside the house. “That decision is yours and only yours to make.”
Big Dick hated this. This was not what he wanted.
Turning away from the house, he made his way down the garden and moved to straddle his bike. He took one last look up at the house, and he hoped to see a curtain twitch. There wasn’t any. No sign of Larissa looking down to see if he was still there. Nothing.
He turned the ignition over on his bike, pumped the gas, and then rode out of the street, only he didn’t go back to the clubhouse. Instead, he arrived at his parents’ doorstep.
The doorway was dark. It didn’t look like anyone was home. He wasn’t just going to let himself in, although he did have a spare key. His parents had given all of their kids a spare key to let themselves in at any time of day or night. He’d never gone back home late at night.
Knocking on the door, he would wait for them to answer, and if they didn’t, he’d go back to the clubhouse. Just as he was about to step away from the door, it opened, and his dad called his name.
“George, what’s wrong?”
He turned to his father and felt tears in his eyes. “I’m going to be a dad,” he said. He let out a laugh, but it wasn’t even entertained. “I’m going to be a dad, and my ... she hates me.”
He couldn’t even call Larissa his woman.
“Oh, son.”
“She hates me, Dad.”
His father grabbed him, pulled him into his arms, and Big Dick sobbed like he was a baby, rather than a full-grown man. He had made one giant mistake and now he was paying the price. His father pulled him into the house, and his mother was already there in the kitchen.
Drew put him in a seat, and Big Dick wiped a hand down his face. Crying never solved any of his problems. He was usually the fixer of problems. Most of the time, he just needed to use his fists to get what he wanted. This was not going to work. Using his fists wouldn’t win back Larissa.
“Tell us what happened,” Drew said.
He told his parents everything, not leaving anything out, including his trip to Jonah and the options he had.
His mother had handed him the hot chocolate, and she had also gotten out the ice cream.
“And that’s everything,” Big Dick said, taking a large scoop of chocolate ice cream and shoving it into his mouth. His teeth were sensitive, but it didn’t stop him from taking a nice, large scoop. The pain was what he needed.
“I guess you’ve got to know what you want to do next,” his dad said.
“What do you mean?” he asked, feeling incredibly dumb.
His mother tsked. “It’s on you. You can either let Larissa get over you. Allow her to fall out of love with you, or you make the decision to fight for her.”
“I hurt her.”
“Yes, we get that. But tell us, George, does it matter?”
He frowned, looking between his parents. “Huh?”
“If you love her, then it matters, because there will not be another woman like her. There is only one Larissa Adams. We all know it. If you don’t love her, then there are other women that will appeal to you. You don’t have to fall for her.”
He couldn’t believe his parents were even suggesting this. It seemed crazy.
“You’re saying leave her?”
“Not your child. You’ll always have a connection with this woman because she is now pregnant with your son or daughter. But, do you want to lose her?” his mother asked.
“Son, can you stand the thought of someone else with her? Larissa is a beautiful woman. She’s kind.
She has spirit and soul. There are going to be men out there who will not care if she is a single mother.
They will be happy to be a stepfather. If you don’t care about her being with another man being the one to make her happy, holding her, putting that smile on her face, then walk away.
If you’re not all in, and you’re only doing it for the child, walk away.
Be a father, but don’t put her through that.
If you want Larissa for her, and if knowing she will find someone else tears you apart so much you can’t think straight, knowing someone else will touch her, love her, and be everything with her, then don’t walk away. ”
Big Dick’s grip had tightened on the mug, and he had to remind himself not to break it. He thought about Andrew. He was a fucking coward and only looked out for himself, but there were other men in town. He’d seen other men looking at her. Available men. Kind men. Men who would treat Larissa right.
But he couldn’t stand the thought of it. Larissa with anyone else was not going to happen. She belonged to him.
Was it love? He didn’t even know what love was. Sure, he’d seen Ugly Beast, Smokey, Carlos, and Hunter all fall. They felt love. What did love feel like?
“I’m not going to let her get away,” he said.
“Then fight for her, son.”
****
“Are you all right?” Ava asked.
Smokey glanced across the room, seeing his wife in bed, looking so fucking sexy.
She wore one of the negligees he’d gotten her last Christmas.
This was a red one, that had lace across the breasts, with nothing else to hide her curves.
He loved seeing her nipples through the lace, teasing him.
He had gotten her several colors in the same style.
He loved all of them. She looked fucking stunning, and his cock was already tightening.
“Yeah.”
“There’s something on your mind,” Ava said, crawling to the edge of the bed. “Sit.”
“I’d much rather sink my face into your pussy.”
“And you can do that in a moment. For now, let me do my job, and you sit your ass on the end of the bed and let me massage your shoulders, while you tell me what is bothering you.” She held her hand out. waiting.
They had started to do this. It helped. He didn’t always talk about club business, but having a partner he could share everything with was a dream come true.
He took a seat and expelled a breath. “I was just thinking about Big Dick and Larissa. It’s a fucking mess, those two.”
She hummed her agreement. “Yeah, when she found out, she looked happy and so sad at the same time.”
“I promised Jonah I would keep an eye on her.”
“What is her ... history? I mean, she has always been such a lovely girl and an amazing woman. I’ve never seen her mother.”
“No one knows for sure. I think she skipped down. Jonah and the wife duties and a kid, she didn’t want it. Left him alone with Larissa. I don’t know the full details. He never talked about it. I know Larissa grew up without a mom.” He ran a hand over his face. “She is too damn trusting.”
“She fell for Big Dick,” Ava said.
“Yeah, and look what happened. This is fucked up.” He sighed. “I’m going to have to talk to Jonah.”
“Isn’t that Big Dick’s job?” Ava asked.
“You think?”
“He’s the baby daddy. You do your part, but I get it. You’re like her second dad, right?”
Smokey frowned. He hadn’t thought of it like that, but if he did take a moment to think about how he felt about Larissa, daughterly love came to mind.
“Fuck me, that doesn’t help. It just makes me want to kill Big Dick now. I know what he’s like.”
“You know, Raven was telling me that Carlos made the bet on purpose,” Ava said.
This made Smokey frown and turn to look at his wife. “What?”
“According to Raven, Carlos never intended to collect on the deal. He was attempting to push Big Dick and Larissa together. They danced around each other, at least to him they did.”
“Danced around? Is that some kind of joke?” Smokey asked. He had never heard anything so ridiculous in his life.
“You think it’s a joke? You had no clue about Hunter and Harlow, and yet that happened right under your nose.”
“That’s different.”
“Why is it?”
“I wasn’t paying attention to Harlow and Hunter. I made sure I had an eye on Larissa.”
“But did you have an eye on Big Dick? Larissa must have felt something for him, otherwise, you and I wouldn’t be talking about this,” Ava said.
Smokey didn’t know if he liked this or not. “You think Big Dick is in love with Larissa?”
“I don’t know if you can call it love, but he has feelings for her. After all, he was the one at the bakery when she got shot, and he also got her to the hospital. Even when he knew his sister was also being attacked. That’s got to mean something.”
“Big Dick doesn’t have a clue if he has feelings for Larissa.”
“I know. Don’t you think it’s kind of cute? I mean, take out the whole bet thing, but the way he is with her is different.”
Smokey sighed. “I’m not going to say it’s cute. He’s an asshole for making the bet in the first place, but if he gets his head out of his ass, then yeah, it’s cute.”
Ava giggled and cupped his face, about to kiss him.
“Do you think Larissa is ever going to be able to forgive him?” Smokey asked.
The smile fell from Ava’s face.
“I forgave you,” Ava said.
“I know you did. Larissa is not you, and Big Dick is not me. I have a feeling he’s got a long road ahead, because he also can be impatient, and he has a temper.”
“He’s Harlow’s big brother, I don’t think it will be too bad.”
