MATT

J ohn caught up to me as I returned from the jeweler’s.

Even though I was high up at the company, I was normally conscious of taking too much time off. I had the freedom to slip in and out on different errands, but I really hadn’t counted on picking out an engagement ring to take that long.

I started looking at diamonds only, then jades and emeralds. Then back to diamonds. I figured if Loren wanted to change it up, I’d bring her back and let her pick. I took three options with me, and I’d let her pick among them. After all, this ring would never leave her finger. I wanted her to be comfortable and happy with the one she could wear to show the world she was mine.

Mrs. Loren Richards.

I couldn’t wait.

But it would have to wait because John seemed very concerned as he spotted me. He seemed to have just exited the building, searching for me, because he sighed in relief as he approached.

“Where the hell have you been?”

I held up the jeweler’s bag. “Getting a ring.”

His jaw dropped. “An engagement ring?”

I patted his back, smiling. “We have a lot to catch up on. But later. Why do you look so worried? Or mad?” I couldn’t tell which. He wasn’t calm and happy like usual, that was for sure.

“Because DuPont was just here!” He flung his arm out to gesture at the building. “He just left. Escorted off the premises, actually.”

“Whoa!” I gawked at him, not counting on that weasel to escalate to anything more than bothering me . “Why? What happened?”

“He came here,” John said as he ushered me inside with him, “demanding to speak with you. And no one knew where you were.”

I nodded. “I put my phone on silent while I focused on picking the rings.”

“Rings? More than one?” He scowled in confusion.

“Like I said, I’ll explain later.” Everything between Loren and me happened so fast, but I’d fill him in.

“Aaron was here, though, looking for you. He was absolutely livid, fuming and so pissed that we stole his client.”

I rolled my eyes as we stepped onto the elevator. I no longer had a reason to avoid them. I’d welcome all the memories of kissing Loren in one. Now, I could look ahead to more kisses and making more memories, naughty and nice. With one of the three rings in this bag, she would be mine.

“He’s been whining about our potentially getting Gammon. It’s bullshit. We’re not stealing anything from them. They’re shopping around on their own. It’s fair game.”

“No. There’s no ‘potentially’ about it. Gammon chose us. They sent over contracts this morning.”

I stared at him. “What?”

He nodded, smiling. “Aaron’s pissed that we did acquire Gammon. They went with us.”

“Because of Loren and the team meeting with them yesterday? Holy shit!” I laughed, overwhelmed with joy. I was already proud of them and amazed with Loren’s ease of getting people to like her, but damn!

“Aaron’s bitching that our new employee cinched the deal by brown-nosing and kissing ass.”

I shook my head. “No, she didn’t. My fiancée just knows how to work hard for what she wants.” I lifted the bag with the ring boxes in it. “Including me.”

His jaw dropped as the elevator doors slid open. “Are you kidding me? You? And Loren?”

“Like I said…”

He laughed as I exited to go toward Loren’s office. “We have a lot to catch up on,” he finished for me. “Go on. Get your girl. I can’t say I’ve ever seen you happier.”

He hadn’t. Because I’d never been so damn happy in my life.

A couple of knocks on Loren’s door alerted her to my presence. She turned around, sending her blonde waves flying over her shoulder. The second she saw it was me, she smiled.

“Did you hear?” she asked, hurrying toward me.

“Just did.” I reached back to close the door behind me as she lunged at me and kissed me hard.

Keeping my arm around her waist, I spun her with me as I locked the door, pushing her up against it.

I would be in trouble. Every day. Every second. Just knowing she was here and within reach, I’d be tempted to sneak in here and do just this.

Savoring the demand in her kiss, I sighed and let her eventually retreat for air.

“Congratulations,” I told her, pressing kisses down her jaw, and she smiled.

“Is that what this is for?” She laughed, motioning at the bag I still held. “A congratulations gift? Don’t think you can start spoiling me, mister.”

“Oh, I will spoil you.” I backed up, putting my hand on her stomach as I moved. “Both of you.”

As I walked toward her desk, I took out each of the ring boxes and set them on her desk, lids open.

“I will spoil my wife as much as I please.”

Her eyes opened wide as she walked up to see the jewels. “Three?”

“So you can pick,” I said as she reached the desk. I stood behind her, rubbing my hands up her sides as I kissed her neck. “Pick a ring and be my wife, Loren.”

“You really mean it when you say you want something long-term, huh?”

“Very long-term,” I said as she slipped one ring on and held it up to see how it looked. I’d never forget the enormous smile on her sweet face.

“Starting… now,” I said as I lifted her skirt up.

Her smile turned naughty as she bent over the desk, pushing her back and sweet ass toward me. She lifted the hand with the new ring on her finger, setting her palm on my cheek. Turning to kiss me, she sighed happily. “I’ll hold you to that, Boss .”

“No. I’m not just your boss,” I said as I eased the straps of her panties over her slender thighs.

She shivered, already so aroused. “I’ll be whatever you want me to be,” she joked breathily.

“I want you to be my wife,” I said between kisses.

She stepped out of her panties and moaned as I fingered her, spreading her cream.

“Yes, Matt. I want to marry you.”

“I want you to be the mother of all my children,” I added as she grabbed me through my pants and stroked.

I growled into her mouth, kissing her harder until she unzipped me and pulled my cock out.

“And I want you to spread your legs.” I thrust into her hand.

She smiled, staring at me with lust and love glittering in her eyes as she put her feet wider apart.

“Then bend over this desk…” I urged her to lean over. “So I can show you that you’re mine.”

I slid into her heat, biting back a groan of pleasure.

“And that you’re mine,” she replied.

“Yes,” I replied. Now and forever.
