Chapter 23

23

“Colton Maddox.”

I’m standing next to the bed, one fisted hand on my hip, the other hand held out so he can see the monstrosity we’re dealing with. I’m wearing some slinky negligee but I couldn’t care less about that.

He opens one eye. “Mornin’, Sunshine.”

He sees the ring then, and rolls onto his back, crooking a muscular arm-porn bicep behind his head. “Oh, shit. That’s right. We got married last night.” He laughs.

“You’re laughing ? This is not funny at all.”

“It’s kind of funny.”

“Could you be serious for one minute, please? We can’t be married.”

“Well, I think we are.” He holds up his own hand and, sure enough, he’s got a gold band on a very important finger. “Yep.”

“I can’t believe this!” I try to pull the heavy, glinting ring off my finger. “It’s stuck .”

“Maybe it likes where it is.”

“Come on. Get up. We’re going back down there and we’re going to get a refund for the rings and get them to annul the marriage.” I try to calm myself down. “We were drunk. I’m sure this kind of thing happens all the time in Vegas.”

“I think I remember them saying there were no refunds.”

“Oh, Jesus. This is a disaster! We’ll at least tell them the whole thing was a mistake, then. I’m sure it’s very straightforward.”

“Didn’t they say you have to go to a judge for something like that? And that there are only a few reasons why a judge would agree to annul a marriage, like if we were related or if you were underage. We signed something.”

“We did?”

“I think so.”

“Colton! How can you be so blasé about this? We need to go down there right now and deal with this! I’m sure there’s some kind of change-your-mind clause. You’re a cocky billionaire take-charge COO. I’m sure we can figure it out. Get up.”

“I can’t.”

“Why not? ”

He points to the sheet, which has created…a gigantic tent over his massive hard-on.

I roll my eyes dramatically. “Is that all you ever think about? Seriously! We have bigger things to deal with right now.”

“Bigger than this?”

“ Colton . I mean it.”

“I can’t help it. It’s morning. And I’m a married man. Come here, wifey.”

“Stop it. Are you really not even concerned about this? We got married last night, Colton.”

“And thoroughly consummated the marriage. You were a wild animal last night, Bailey. Holy hell. No one would have guessed you were an innocent virgin only days ago. I must be a fucking good teacher.”

“How can you act like this is all a big joke?” I sit down on the bed, distraught. “I can’t believe we got married . We hardly even know each other.”

“Bullshit. You know me better than anyone ever has.”

“That can’t be true. We met less than a week ago.”

“What a week, though, right?” I hate that the tone of his deep voice is sincere. And that the way he’s looking at me is sort of…genuinely tender. And also sort of…fiercely devoted. In a way I’ve never known. “It’s been the best week of my life, Lila.”

I don’t want to admit this to him because it feels raw and uncontrollable, so I whisper the words so they don’t break my heart. “It’s been the best week of my life too. ”

Colton takes my hand, fingering the gigantic diamond. “I think we knew what we were doing last night.”

“I think the tequila knew what it was doing last night.”

“The tequila tunes into your subconscious. Our subconscious minds made the decision for us. Just like they did last weekend.”

Lila, you are out of control. “I don’t know. Tequila and I aren’t on speaking terms right now.”

“That’s what you said last time.”

I fall back onto the bed, slinging an arm over my eyes. “I know. I’m an idiot.”

Colton moves, displacing the sheet. I peek under my arm to see his engorged, huge , angry-looking erection. “Or a gorgeous evil genius who has me so tightly wrapped around her sweet little finger I can’t breathe, see straight or get my fucking hard-on to deflate, one of the two.”

“I just don’t know how you can be so casual about this.”

“There’s nothing casual about my hard-on, baby girl. Come here and let me make love to my beautiful wife.”

“Stop calling me that.”

“It’s true. You are my wife.”

“Don’t get used to it.”

Colton pulls me up onto the pillows, spreading my legs and crouching over me. Damn it. He knows his colossal, seeping manhood drives my inner sex goddess insane. He knows I can’t resist him.

He licks my pussy. “Look how ripe and juicy and fucking perfect my wife is.” Climbing up my body, he slides his thick cock into the tight wetness, all the way in. Pulling out only a little to drive deeper, the hard, swollen ridges of him rubbing slickly against all my most sensitive triggers.

One thing I can’t deny is that our souls click and our bodies fit .

This is crazy. Obviously, we’ll have to do something about the ridiculousness of this sham Vegas wedding. We can’t be married. We can’t stay married. Real Life begins again tomorrow.

But right now all I can see and feel is stars.
