Chapter 242

The impact drove Khloe back against the car. Pain flared through her shoulder, sharp and immediate—but her expression didn’t change.

When she lifted her head again, whatever softness had once existed there was gone.

Only ice remained.

She didn’t struggle.

Didn’t flinch.

Just looked at Trey as if he were something unpleasant stuck to her life that she had finally noticed too clearly to ignore.

“Trey,” she said quietly.

Her voice wasn’t loud—but it carried a chilling finality.

“Stop performing sentiment for me. Doesn’t it disgust you when you hear yourself speak?”

Trey froze.

“What… what are you talking about?”

A flicker of unease crossed his face.

Khloe had always been composed. Beautiful, yes—but soft around the edges when she looked at him. That was what he remembered. That was what he had relied on.

This version of her… felt unfamiliar.

Sharper.

Colder.

Like a blade finally drawn from its sheath.

“If you don’t understand,” Khloe continued evenly, “I can explain it more slowly.”

Her gaze swept over him once, and a faint trace of disgust settled in her eyes.

Even standing so close, she looked at him like something dirty had brushed against her.

Trey’s expression changed instantly.

His patience snapped.

“So this is it?” he said harshly. “Because I’ve been busy? Because I didn’t give you the shares you wanted? Khloe—after everything I’ve done for you, you’re throwing all of this away over something this trivial?”

Khloe let out a quiet breath.

Then she interrupted him.

“Yes.”

Trey paused.

But she wasn’t finished.

“You did do a lot,” she said calmly. “You planned carefully. You used me. You let me stand in your way so you could protect Angela. You built your little world on top of my trust and called it love.”

Her voice didn’t rise.

It didn’t shake.

That was what made it worse.

“Trey Fox,” she said softly, “I should thank you.”

Each word landed like a strike.

Trey’s hand slowly loosened from her shoulder.

His face went blank for a second.

Then panic crept in.

“…What are you saying?” His voice cracked. “Khloe, what do you mean by ' used you '? Angela and I—what are you talking about?”

Cold sweat broke out along his spine.

He was shaking now—but still trying to deny it.

Khloe finally pushed herself off the car, standing upright.

Small compared to him.

But somehow, it was Trey who looked cornered.

Not her.

“I mean,” she said, “our marriage certificate was fake.”

A pause.

“And you and Angela—are the real couple.”

The night seemed to go silent.

Trey stared at her as if he hadn’t heard correctly.

“No…” His lips turned pale. “That’s impossible… Khloe, you can’t—when did you—”

His voice broke.

But Khloe didn’t wait for him to finish.

She had once planned to expose everything slowly, carefully—like peeling away layers of rot until nothing remained of the Fox family’s reputation.

But Trey had ruined the timing.

And she no longer needed patience.

She was already married to Nick.

There was no room left for delay.

“I’ve known for a long time,” she said flatly.

Trey’s breath stopped.

Everything he had built—every justification, every illusion—collapsed at once.

It wasn’t just shock.

It was terror.

Because suddenly, all his recent memories made sense.

Her indifference.

Her distance.

The way she had looked at him was as if she were already gone.

“No…” he whispered again, weaker this time. “That’s not… Khloe, you’re lying…”

But even as he said it, his body betrayed him.

His legs gave out.

And Trey Fox—who had never knelt for anyone in his life—fell hard to his knees in front of her.
