Chapter 265

“I investigated you, of course,” Khloe said calmly.

Her tone was light, almost conversational.

Then she added, without changing expression, “And I exposed what I thought needed to be exposed.”

Ethan’s gaze sharpened.

Khloe continued, unbothered.

“Ethan, you invested in Trey’s company to corner me, didn’t you? To create pressure on my position in the Hunt family and make things inconvenient for me.”

A soft smile appeared on her lips—pleasant, even gentle.

But every word was precise.

Cutting.

Ethan’s jaw tightened.

For a brief moment, something in his composure cracked.

Then he let out a short laugh.

“You think a few words with no evidence can make me doubt my mother?” His voice rose slightly. “Khloe, don’t be ridiculous.”

Khloe didn’t respond.

She simply looked at him.

That silence was worse than an argument.

Because it meant she didn’t need to convince him anymore.

She only needed to wait.

Ethan’s expression darkened further.

“Stop trying to provoke me,” Khloe said quietly.

Her voice dropped slightly, softer in volume—but colder in effect.

Ethan went still.

Khloe stepped closer.

“The risk level of Trey’s company is already classified. The red-file assessment has been submitted to the board.”

A pause.

“So let me be clear.”

Her gaze held his.

“If Morrison Group continues that investment and Fox Group collapses as expected, someone will have to take responsibility.”

Her lips curved faintly.

“And I doubt Clarice will enjoy being that person.”

Ethan’s fingers tightened on the edge of the table.

For the first time, his breathing became uneven.

A sharp exhale.

Then he stood abruptly.

The chair scraped back.

Without another word, he walked out of the meeting room, pulling out his phone as he moved.

“Withdraw all investment from Fox Group,” he said coldly.

And ended the call.

One hour later.

Ethan sat in his office, still simmering, when HR requested his presence.

He already knew—something had shifted.

Still, he went.

When he entered the meeting room, he stopped.

Charlotte was there.

And Khloe.

Together.

Ethan’s eyes flicked between them.

So that was it.

Charlotte had spoken.

Or worse—she had collaborated.

Charlotte looked nervous at first, hands tense in her lap. But once Khloe gave her a subtle nod, her posture steadied.

Ethan sat down slowly.

Calm on the outside.

Calculating underneath.

Most of the departments were under his influence. Even if Charlotte had reported him, it shouldn’t have been enough to cause real damage.

At worst, an internal warning. A procedural slap.

Nothing he couldn’t handle.

Khloe opened the meeting.

No hesitation.

No preamble.

“Ethan,” she said directly, “you have two options.”

Her tone was final.

“Apologize to Charlotte, formally commit to never interfering with her work again, and accept disciplinary action as a senior executive.”

A pause.

“Or I escalate this to the board and Clarice. Your misconduct will be made public internally, and the company will decide how to handle it through formal channels.”

Her eyes shifted briefly to Charlotte.

A silent confirmation.

Support given.

Then withdrawn from the negotiation.

The room went still.

Even HR didn’t interrupt.

Khloe’s voice remained steady.

“This is to ensure every employee in Morrison Group can work without intimidation.”

Earlier that day, Khloe had already reached Charlotte.

After noticing her sudden resignation, she checked internal records—and then the surveillance logs.

What she found was enough.

Unauthorized access.

Khloe’s computer.

Data extraction.

She hadn’t acted immediately.

Instead, she waited.

Then called Charlotte.

Not to accuse.

To understand.

And now, sitting in this room, she had her answer.
