Chapter 16

Chapter Sixteen

Jesus. What a fucking dream.

Touching Bax.

Kissing Bax.

Jason chuckled a little, rolling up in the mattress, rubbing his eyes.

Wait.

Wait, he hadn’t seen Bax.

Not even a little.

He saw in his dreams.

He just sat there in the bed, blinking over and over, heart pounding. God fucking hated him. Why would he get this now, when he couldn’t see? Couldn’t travel? Couldn’t have a life?

“Hey, you.” Bax’s voice came from right near the door. He knew the room well enough to know that. And damned if Bax didn’t sound tickled about something.

“Hey.” He smelled hamburger meat. “Momma making y’all supper?”

“Coke’s cooking. Momma went out with Jack. I figured she needed a night out.”

He could hear the thump-scrape of Bax moving closer before the bed dipped, Bax reaching over to touch his knee.

“How’s the leg?” His own leg moved, without him even thinking, pushing toward that touch.

“Aching. You know how that goes. Has to hurt to heal.” Before he even knew it, Bax was leaning on him, touching him all along one side, that hand sliding up…

“Uh-huh.” He turned toward that heat, spreading his legs more. Hey. Hey, Bax.

That hand flattened right over his crotch, resting there as if it was meant to, and Bax smiled against his cheek. “Good nap?”

“Yeah. Yeah, real good. You?” Shit, he was just vibrating with the sheer joy of touching, being touched, the whole damn thing.

“Uh-huh. Slept good for at least an hour. First time since our shit hit the fan.” Bax rubbed him a little, back and forth, almost as if it was meditative or something.

“Good.” He took a deep breath, shifting, sort of focused on that touch.

“Mmm. This okay, Jase?” Listen to that man. He could hear the roughness in Bax’s voice, hear the fucking rasp of those calluses against him.

“Yeah. Better than.”

Bax had the most beautiful hands.

“I was hoping it would be.” Those lips edged over to his, Bax kissing him long and slow. Just like in his dream that wasn’t a dream.

He couldn’t fucking believe this. None of it. Not since he’d woken up in the hospital and…

Oh.

He stroked Bax’s jaw, exploring, not willing to waste his time on the bad.

Bax licked at his lower lip, then pulled away a little. “We got to talk, Mini. But this is all right now. Yeah? Just for now?”

“Yeah. Yeah, Bax. I just. Let us have this.” He’d do the hard parts later.

“Oh, thank God.” Pressing him back, Bax pushed up against his side, that cast making a ridiculous noise against the edge of the bed. Poor Bax. The man was clumsy as Hell at the best of times.

He chuckled and pushed closer, hand on Bax’s ass. “You’re something, buddy. I swear.”

“Just promise me you won’t run screaming when you find out what.” Laughing, Bax crowded him, hand working him like there was no tomorrow.

“I won’t run. Hell, I’d smack into something.”

That had Bax laughing harder, the sound truly happy, making him blink even though he couldn’t see.

Then Bax was on him, kissing him breathless, just like they’d been doing this for years.

Oh. Oh, fuck. He pushed closer, humping that hand as if he was a teenager, as if he had an itch that needed scratching.

“Mmm.” They broke for air, then dove in again, and Bax finally worked that hand into his still-open jeans, closed it around his prick.

He made a strangled cry, the sound caught in Bax’s mouth. Oh. Oh, God. No fair. No fair to take his life and give him the one thing he couldn’t have…

Stroking hard, Bax gave him just what he needed, what he’d fucking wanted for years. That hard thumb rubbed up the underside of his cock, pressing just below the head, making him arch and thrash.

It was like a good ride, all motion and want and spinning.

He tried to warn Bax, tried to let Andy know he was gonna be way quick off the mark, but it wasn’t happening.

And it didn’t seem to matter one bit. Bax was pushing him on, making these amazing noises, just as hot for him as the Fourth of July.

Jason couldn’t help it, so he went with it, giving it right up and crying out his pleasure in Bax’s mouth.

“Jase. Oh, Jesus, you… Yeah. That’s it. That’s it.” The touches slowed but they didn’t stop, making him shiver with it. Almost too much.

“Good to me.” He groaned, gasping with each little aftershock, each one seeming so Goddamn big.

“Shit, Jase. I been wanting to be this good to you for years.” He got another kiss, slow and deep and almost like a fucking drug.

Yeah. Yeah, he knew that. The same things he’d wanted to do for Bax.

“Y’all about done? Because the burgers are ready!” Coke shouted from the hallway, making them both jump.

Jason blinked, took a breath. “Yeah. Yeah, smells good, Coke.” He leaned into Bax a little. “Shit. I forgot all about everything.”

“Me, too.” Stroking his back, Bax laughed. “‘Least your momma wasn’t here. Come on, Mini. Let’s get cleaned up and eat. Coke wants to powwow.”

“Powwow? What about?” That hand felt damn good, solid.

“Oh, no. I’m letting him talk. Come on, now.” Bax shifted, levering up.

Hell, he could almost see the frown when that leg didn’t cooperate.

“Okay. Okay, Bax.” He got his hand on Bax’s ass, steadying the man. Shit, he was feeling loose in his skin.

“Oh…” Bax slid and pressed against him a moment, then was up. “Get over here. This damned crutch ain’t cuttin’ it.”

“Bossy old man.” He stood, got himself all zipped and tucked, hands smoothing down the front of his shirt. “Am I okay?”

“You’re fine.” One finger flicked at his collar, brushing his neck. “I’m a little rumpled.”

“I…” Fuck, he wanted to see Bax. Right now.

Needed to.

Bax turned, giving him a hard, quick hug. “It’ll be all right, Mini. I know it.”

He didn’t know about that, not at all. Still, it was better right now than it had been this morning, so he’d take it.

For now.
