“Go Alexie!” Caia calls out and I roll my eyes.
He’s on a power play and as expected the puck goes into the net with little effort.

Bastian is visiting the U.S. We’ve had to make it a long-distance relationship for a little while. Bureaucracy takes time and as much as I’d love to live in Germany, there are challenges.
He has set up a new foundation — Stiftung — that helps people to move away from the streets. The community has stepped up and many people offer their time and services. Helga and Heinrich provide food twice a week with local grower donations and help in their kitchen from those who want to learn food service skills. And they aren’t the only ones. There are art programs, training programs for accounting and health care, and new ones are added every month.
Caia gasps and I look to her. “What?”
She’s staring up at the jumbotron. She points and I look up.
Harper, will you marry me? glares back at me.
No. That can’t be me, right?
The hand holding mine slips something on my finger and I look down.
A beautiful diamond ring solitaire is there on my ring finger, and down on his knee is Bastian with that smirk that I can’t get enough of plastered on his face.
I swear the man gets in my pants just by throwing that look my way. And today is no different.
“Will you marry me?” he asks as the camera man films us.
I whisper, “Yes. Of course.” I stand and we meet in the middle to kiss.
“I love you, my sweet.”
And the crowd goes wild!
My life has been nothing but bliss since I met this man and my heart is his completely.
With him by my side —with that smirk— it always will be.
