Chapter 10 #3
“Does this mean we’re meant to be together?” I propped on my elbows, bringing my mouth to his and licking his lips. “Kiss me, Eli.” He might be right. Maybe it was impossible to fight this insane attraction we had to each other.
He claimed me with harsh, needful kisses, groaning into my mouth. As he broke the kiss, he shivered. “If you don’t reciprocate pretty soon, I’ll come onto your chest.” He smirked for a beat, and his face tensed, his mouth dropping open. “Fuck, like really soon.”
As much as I loved that idea, I wanted to suck him off more. “Stand on the floor.” I sat up against the back of the couch while he rose and stepped between my open legs.
He held his cock to me, the tip leaking with precum, and nudged it into my mouth. “Won’t take long, just saying.”
“Well, quit jacking yourself then.” I pulled his hand away and wrapped mine around the base of his cock. The thick vein I’d always loved was right here, in front of me. I fluttered my tongue across it and sucked the crown into my mouth.
“Fuck…” His head tipped back, and his cock jerked against my tongue. “I’m aching for it, Wren, for you.”
He always knew what to say. I devoured him, sucking him all the way in and then pumped his dick while fondling his balls. I knew what he liked as much as he knew about me. There was something comforting in it. We didn’t have to stumble around figuring each other out.
He freed a shuddering breath and grabbed the back of my head, fucking my mouth. “So good, so fucking good.” He hissed and then groaned.
As I stayed on him, I flicked my tongue at his glans. This would set him off. I knew it. His dick swelled further and pulsated against my tongue. This was it.
“Holy fuck.” He gritted out, his fingers digging into my head, and hot cum surged across my tongue and down my throat.
I pumped faster, swallowing it all down, holding his balls the way he liked. It was never-ending, and I gagged with the last pulses. As it calmed, I pulled off him and wiped the corners of my mouth with my fingers. He tasted the same too. Damn, the things I remembered about him.
Flipping his spent dick into his shorts and underwear and pulling them up, he fell onto the couch beside me. “Fucking hell, I needed that.”
“Me too.” My dick was still hanging out. I grabbed the waistband of my shorts.
“You’re getting hard again.” He released a soft snort. “You want to go again?” Leaning in, he gave me a deep kiss and stroked my waking dick.
Tension coiled in my belly. I could rally, but no. “Eli, not yet.” With a chuckle, I swatted his hand away from me. “It’s getting late. What if your roommates come home?”
“Then we should move into my bedroom.” He waggled his brows at me. “Come on.” He rose, lifted my shorts and underwear over my fresh boner and grabbed my hand.
“No, Eli. We shouldn’t. We both have to rise early for classes tomorrow.” I pulled on his hand, stopping him. If I went into his bedroom, I might not leave until morning. “We have an away game this weekend.” This would get his attention.
His gaze snapped to mine. “And?” He stood at the entrance to the hallway.
“And I’m sure I can convince Grace to give us our room for a few hours.” I ticked my brows. She could spend time with some of the other squad members for a while.
With a sly grin, he faced me and cupped my cheek. “Yeah? I like that idea.”
I’d bring lube, but I wouldn’t tell him. He might expect sex if I did, and I wasn’t sure we should go that far yet. “I’ll let Grace know tomorrow. She’ll be so excited.”
His gaze fell to my mouth, and he kissed me, softly at first and then with need tinging it as he shifted his body flush with mine, his arm wrapping around my waist. Against my cheek, he said, “I can’t get enough of you, Wren.” He came in for a fresh round of hungry kisses.
The front door popped open. “Dudes, Eli has a bedroom.” Malik covered his eyes with his forearms. “You’ve had over three hours for this shit.”
Tex stumbled in behind Malik. “It smells like sex and garlic in here.” He pinched his nose. “Open a window.”
Facing his friends, Eli huffed and rubbed his eyes, keeping his arm around my waist. “You always have to make it awkward, don’t you?”
With a soft snort, I shook my head. “I’d expect nothing less from footballers.” Plus, we did have oral sex on their couch, so they were probably right.
Waving his arm, Tex strutted to the patio door and slid it open. “Thank God, fresh air.”
“How ya doin’, man?” With a broad smile, Malik strode to me with his hand stretched. “Good to see you.”
“Good to see you too.” I gave his hand a quick shake and then Malik side-hugged me. Did they expect me to stick around?
“How was dinner? Did everything go all right?” Malik planted a hand on his hip as he inspected us.
“It went very well.” Eli raised his chin and held me closer to his side, like he was protecting me from his friends.
I was sure he didn’t need to. But then, Eli had always been like that. “We had a good time, and the food was fantastic. There are lots of leftovers for you guys.” I peeked at Eli. What were we supposed to do now?
Tex made a beeline for the refrigerator and pulled out the leftovers container. “Damn, there is. Nice job, man.” He opened it and sniffed. “God, love this dish.”
“You watch, they’ll eat half of it tonight.” With a snicker, he nuzzled my ear and then released me. “Come on, I’ll walk you to your car.”
“Sure.” As I strode toward the door, I waved at Malik and Tex, pulling plates down from the cupboard. “See you this weekend.”
“Yeah, see you.” Flicking a glance at me, Malik dug into the leftovers with a wooden spoon.
Eli strolled beside me down the driveway. “How are you feeling about your dad moving here?”
“Shit, I’d almost forgotten about it.” Exhaling a breath to stop my chest from tightening, I stopped at my Corolla. “I wonder if my mom knew.” Probably not. She would have called and told me. I unlocked my car.
“You should call her and find out.” Eli opened my door for me. “Wren, let me know if you need anything from me.” He stood with his hand on the doorframe, his brows wrinkling.
“I will. It was just a shock. It came out of nowhere.” I stepped inside the door, facing him. “I’m sure nothing good will come of it.”
“Who knows? Maybe it’ll be an opportunity to get to know him.” Squeezing my hand, Eli pulled me to him and wrapped me in a tight hug, kissing my cheek. “I hope this is good for you.”
“Me too.” I lost myself in the warmth of his embrace. No one ever hugged like Eli. “Anyway, I’m taking off. I’ll see you this weekend.”
“Yes, talk to Grace.” With a smirk, he grabbed my chin and planted a hard kiss on my lips. “I’ll probably room with Nick Penny. He’d be okay with us having the room, but there’s a lot less explaining with Grace.”
“There is.” A smile pulled at my lips. Patting his ass, I climbed into my car. “Bye, Eli.”
He shut the door and waved as I started my engine.
The next day after classes, I threw my backpack on my bed and dug my phone from the pocket. I had a spare hour, and Grace still wasn’t home. Time to discover what Mom knew about Dad.
After shutting my door, I phoned Mom and put the call on speaker, and then hopped onto my bed, sitting cross-legged.
The line rang a few times and then picked up. “Hello? Wren?”
“Hey, Mom.” She wouldn’t have withheld this information. It wasn’t like her. I should start with the formalities. “How are things?” I pursed my lips.
“Fine. I closed on a house yesterday, so I’ve got a fat check on the way.” She chuckled. “How are things with you? You sound tense.”
Of course, she picked up on it. “I am. Dad called me last night.” I rubbed a tense muscle on my neck.
“He did? And it wasn’t your birthday. That’s a first.”
“Right?” Taking a deep breath, I straightened my spine. Now for the big question. “Did you know he moved here?”
“Moved where?” she asked.
“Here, to Arizona. Scottsdale, to be exact. He’s probably living less than thirty miles from me.” Would it hurt her to know he’d gotten his new wife pregnant? No, they’d divorced when I was young. I brushed my fingers in a circle across my bedspread.
“I did not know that.” She gave a sharp hum. “Wonder what he did with the house in the East Bay?” Her breath snagged. “I can look it up and see if he sold it or rented it out.” She snickered sharply. “Or if he just left it empty. I wouldn’t put it past him.”
Why did any of this matter? Maybe it was the realtor in her. “Anyway, Mom, he wants me to have dinner with him and Karen. I’m uh, going to see them next week.” My gut tensed. This felt like I was betraying her. I was though, wasn’t I? She’d raised me, while he’d barely paid child support.
“Oh?” She took a deep inhale. “Well, that seems positive, right? Maybe he’s finally come to his senses and decided to be a father.”
My heart stung. That was it exactly. With expecting a new baby, he had to step up. “He, uh, Karen is pregnant. With a boy.”
The line went silent for a beat.
“Mom?” Was she still there? I stared at my phone. Maybe I shouldn’t have told her.
“Oh,” she said. “You’ll finally have a sibling.”
“I…I will.” I worried my lower lip. This conversation was harder than I’d thought. “I don’t want to go to his house. I’m not sure what to do.” Could getting to know my dad cause a rift in my relationship with Mom? But we were so close.
“Wren, you need to go. He’s your father, and he should be in your life. Well, more than he has been.” She huffed. “I wished he’d come to his senses years ago, but this is the hand we’ve been dealt.”
“Yeah.” I planted my elbow on my thigh and my forehead in my hand. This sucked. Telling her this sucked. “So…”
“Yes?” Her voice lifted.
“I, um, have something else to tell you.” Shit, would she be upset about Eli too? She’d been there through my broken heart. “Eli Dawson is here playing football.”
“No…” She tsked. “Damn, you’re getting a full dose of past emotional trauma.” She chuckled.
“Yeah, sort of.” I picked at a thread on my shorts. “I’m seeing Eli again.” Might as well just say it. “He’s…he’s changed, Mom.”
She freed a sharp breath. “Are you sure? I don’t want you getting hurt like that ever again. It was terrible.”
“I know, Mom. But Eli is out to his family and volunteers on a queer hotline at the university. He’s fully embraced his sexuality, and he’s…” Fuck, he’s so damn attractive and strong. “He’s agreed to go with me to Dad’s and wants to be there for me.”
“Okay, honey. But beware. You know the saying—a leopard doesn’t change its spots.” She clicked her tongue. “I suppose if you two ended up at the same university, it was inevitable.”
“You didn’t know he was here, did you?” I lifted my brows. Mom was not a football fan. In fact, I’d never seen her watch it.
“No, I heard nothing about him.” She paused. “I guess I didn’t want to know. I’m sure with my business, if I’d asked around, someone would have told me. But I didn’t ask.”
“Yeah.” If things worked out with Eli, I’d have to convince Mom he was good for me. Damn it. “Anyhow, I’ll let you know how the dinner goes with Dad.”
“Okay,” she said. “Are you traveling with the team this weekend?”
“I am.” I nodded, though she couldn’t see it. “I’ll speak with you soon, okay?”
“Yes. And Wren, be careful, okay? Not just with Eli, but with your father too.”
“I will Mom. Love you.” An ache lodged in my chest. Fuck, this was driving a wedge between us. I felt it.
“Love you too. Bye now.” She ended the call.
