CHAPTER 18
LEON P.O.V.
I lean against the cold mahogany doorframe, my arms crossed over my chest, watching the technical blue light of the digital maps wash over Alessia.
I slowly roll my sleeves up to the elbow, exposing the dark hair and the perpetually busted, bruised knuckles of my forearms. She doesn't notice. She is practically vibrating with the residual adrenaline of mapping out a massacre. Her eyes scan the lines of the safehouse blueprints as if she’s looking for blood already pooled on the page.
I watch her tap a restless, frantic, rhythmic beat against the edge of the marble desk.
The low hum of server cooling fans and the smell of ozone and expensive espresso fill the space, but all I can focus on is the cold blue glare reflecting off her chin-length dark auburn hair.
I wonder if she realizes how much she looks like one of my people right now.
Trenton Cross and his bureaucratic lackeys didn't just burn her; they deadass forged her into something I can actually use.
Fucking idiots. They thought they were sending a federal spy into my house to tear my syndicate apart, but all they did was hand-deliver a perfectly lethal, completely unhinged weapon straight into my lap.
I can see the frantic energy directly beneath her skin.
Her tactical mind is still running at a thousand miles a minute, drunk on the absolute power of having no federal red tape to hold her back from pulling the trigger.
The conflict is right there in the open—she hasn't quite realized that the 'agent' is dead, and only the 'enforcer' remains.
"You’re staring, Leon." Her voice cuts through the hum of the servers.
"I’m admiring the handiwork. You have a gift for destruction."
"It’s not a gift. It’s a curriculum."
She turns to look at me, and I see it. Her dark brown eyes are completely devoid of the FBI agent she used to be.
The softness is gone, replaced by a jagged, hungry edge.
She brushes a stray auburn lock behind her ear with a hand that is still slightly trembling from the adrenaline crash.
She doesn't hesitate. She stands tall, shoulders squared.
"I gave you the safehouse, Leon. I gave you their heads on a plate."
"And now you want your payment."
"I want what you promised. No more games. Motherfucker, I'm waiting."
She’s pushing me. She wants to see if I’ll blink.
Christ, she has no idea how much I’ve been waiting for her to ask.
The sheer defiance in her tone is a direct challenge.
She thinks she is an equal predator now, a partner in crime because she pointed a finger at a map, but she’s forgotten that she’s still standing within my walls.
She wants the reward, but she doesn't realize the cost of admission.
I push off the doorframe and close the distance between us in three slow, deliberate strides.
My bruised knuckles ache as I reach out to tilt her chin up, forcing her to meet my ice-blue stare.
My thumb brushes over the pulse point in her neck, feeling the frantic, rabbit-thump of her blood pushing against her skin.
The heat radiates from my chest to hers, the rough texture of my calloused thumb a harsh contrast against her jaw.
"If we do this, the agent stays in this room. You become mine. Entirely."
"I’m not afraid of you, Leon."
"You should be. You’re about to lose the only thing you have left: your agency."
I watch her pupils dilate as the weight of the demand hits her.
For an undercover operative, control is the only fucking thing that keeps them alive in the field.
Asking her to let go of it is like asking her to jump off a cliff without a harness.
This is the final test. If she can't submit to me here, she'll never survive the reality of the raid tomorrow.
She gives me a jerky, desperate nod of agreement, her throat working as she swallows hard.
I don't give her a single second to reconsider.
I wrap my fingers around her hand, my grip firm and borderline painful, signaling that the reward has already begun.
I lead her out of the sterile, tactical light of the office.
We move through the shadows of the hallway toward the master bedroom, the only sound the sharp click of her boots on the marble floor and the rhythmic thud of my own footsteps.
The smell of expensive floor wax and the dim amber floor-lighting guide us.
The physical shift from the War Room to the Bedroom makes her breath hitch audibly.
In the office, she was the analyst. In the hallway, she is the captive again, and the reality of her total submission is setting in with every step.
I can feel her shaking. Good. Let the fear burn out the absolute last of the Bureau's conditioning.
"Don't look back at the maps, Alessia. That world is closed."
"Where are we going?"
"To the only place in this house where you don't have to think."
I guide her into the center of the dark master bedroom and drop her hand.
The scent of cedar and expensive linen hits my lungs, the silhouette of the city skyline glaring through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
I tell her to stand completely still. I move away from her, methodically unbuttoning my cuffs and shrugging off my tailored suit jacket.
I toss the heavy fabric over a chair, the sound muffled by the thick rug, and begin to un-tuck my shirt.
I check my watch and unstrap it, placing it on the nightstand with a heavy metallic clink.
Her eyes track every single movement I make.
Her hyper-vigilance is fighting a losing war against the submission she just promised me.
She looks like she wants to bolt for the door, but the sick addiction to the adrenaline—and to me—keeps her rooted to the floorboards.
She’s trying to read me, trying to find the play.
She hasn't realized yet that there is no play. Only me.
"Stay right there. Don't move a muscle until I tell you."
"Is this part of the reward?"
"The reward starts when I say it starts. Shut up."
I step right back into her space, my presence crowding her until she’s forced to tilt her head back just to look at my face.
My breath fans over her ear as I lean down, my chest inches from hers, the scratch of my stubble brushing her cheek.
Gently, I inspect the white bandage on her right bicep from the drive-by.
I trace the edge of the gauze with my index finger.
It’s a stark, physical reminder that she bleeds for my world now, that she took a bullet because of my fucking life.
She flinches slightly from the phantom pain, a natural tactical response ingrained in her muscles, but she forces herself to remain entirely still under my hands.
The struggle between her basic survival instinct to protect herself and her sick need to obey me is written in the rigid tension of her shoulders.
Every scar she gets in this house is a signature I’ve written on her skin. She's becoming a map of my history.
"Still hurts?"
"I’ve had worse."
"I know. But this one belongs to me."
I walk past her and pull a long, black silk tie from the top drawer of my dresser.
The fabric slithers through my fingers like a snake.
I step behind her. The proximity is so close she can feel the heat of my body radiating against her back.
The room is cold, the AC draft chilling her skin where my shirt has parted.
She clenches her fists at her sides, her knuckles turning white, but she doesn't turn around.
"You think too much, Alessia. You analyze every threat. Tonight, I am the only threat." I whisper the words directly into her ear, the deep baritone of my voice vibrating in the air between us. I'm going to take the entire fucking world away from her. I'm going to make her world me.
"Leon, I..."
"Don't speak. Just feel."
I wrap the silk firmly over her eyes, pulling it tight enough to ensure not a single sliver of neon light leaks through, and tie it in a secure knot at the back of her head.
The sudden, absolute darkness makes her let out a soft, broken gasp.
Her pulse immediately spikes, a visible, frantic thrum against the pale skin of her throat.
Her loss of vision removes her primary tactical sense, leaving her utterly vulnerable to my physical presence.
She sways slightly, her equilibrium failing now that she can't anchor herself to the dimensions of the room. I place my hands on her waist to steady her, my fingers digging hard into the soft flesh above her hips. The smell of the silk mixes with her perfume and the sharp scent of gunpowder still lingering on her skin. She’s mine now.
The exact moment the lights went out, she stopped being a fed.
"What do you see, Alessia?"
"Nothing. Just black."
"Good. That’s where you live now."
"Hands back. Now." I demand it with zero room for negotiation.
She hesitates for a microsecond before obeying, her wrists crossing behind her spine.
Her chest heaves, my oversized charcoal shirt straining against her buttons with every frantic breath.
I use a second silk tie to bind her wrists together, moving with a deliberate, agonizing slowness so I don't pull on her injured shoulder, but ensuring the knot is taut and completely unforgiving.
She whimpers softly as the silk pulls tight.
The physical restraint finalizes her total loss of agency.
She can't see, she can't fight, and she can't leave.
The entrapment is complete. Fuck, she looks beautiful like this.
Christ, I could keep her tied up in this room forever.
"Please..."
"I didn't give you permission to beg yet."
