CHAPTER SEVEN #2
“Feel better, baby?” Ramos asked indulgently and judgment-free.
He would stand by and wait until his beloved was satisfied because whatever he dished out was nothing compared to what he had endured.
Cal was on his phone calling in a cleanup.
Cal and Tarek moved into the adjacent room, and Ramos pulled his beloved into his arms and held him.
They moved to the other side of the room away from the carnage and the body on the balcony.
“I feel better, much better.” Kai leaned in closer.
“I know you were worried, but I want you to know that I can handle myself in most things, especially when you’re close by.
" He smiled, and Ramos dropped a kiss to his upturned lips.
Kai sighed deeply and stated. "All this just for a dagger that may or may not give him immortality, with the odds leaning heavily to may not. I don't get it."
"I don't know Nolan Azar, and I'm glad of that fact, but I believe he was the type of person who was criminally and violently obsessed with logic, rarely making it apparent within the confines of his obsessive mind.
I've met people like that, and they all ended up just like Nolan. He was willing to trade everything for something well out of his reach, and he did it with glee right to the end.”
"Crazy," Kai stated.
“If you were going to put it all into just one word, that would be the word.”
“Or lunatic.”
“Yes, that word works too."

Kai and Tarek got time to themselves while Cal and Ramos were assisting with the cleanup and ensuring that no one in and about the Hotel saw or heard anything. They had a team of mind sweepers, and not surprisingly, they were busy for a while.
"I met with Nolan because he wanted to discuss you and your situation. He acted like he knew what you were working on and why you had been targeted. I thought he could give me a clearer understanding of what you have been dealing with." Tarek explained why he went to see Nolan.
"I lied to Cal because I knew he would want to accompany me, and Nolan didn't want him there. He claimed the vampire essence was affecting him since his descent into magic." Tarek huffed out an irritated breath. "I fell for the entire load of bullshit he was selling me."
“Nolan knew what I was dealing with because he’s the one who sent the thugs after me. But I’m sure he never mentioned that during the call.” Tarek shook his head with a smirk.
"I called you from Sedona when I thought I was dying because I wanted to tell you I was sorry for ignoring you and drifting away. I wanted you to know that I love you, Tarek, and always will." Kia gave him the truth, and Tarek responded with a full-body hug.
"I'm sorry too, and I have never stopped loving you," Tarek admitted.
They aired various thoughts, grievances, and talked about what Fate had suddenly given them both and how lucky they were.
They didn't discuss their father; he didn't deserve their time or energy.
They both knew him; they knew what he was and what he represented, and no further analysis was necessary.
Tarek and Cal headed home to the cottage, and Kai and Ramos headed back to the Palace with a promise that they would remain in touch and no more disappearing.
Kai accepted that it would take time to build back a relationship with his brother, but they had the time, and now that they were both members of the same Coven, disappearing would be impossible.
Ramos brought Kai back to the suite after they met briefly with Silas. There were still questions circling the existence of the dagger, Zephyra turned out no one seems to have ever actually seen the thing. It may not be real, but if it is, it would be priceless.
"I'd like to take a couple of weeks and go looking for Zephyra," Kai said as they entered the living room and Ramos poured a couple of whiskeys.
“I have plenty of time off accrued since I haven’t taken any for several decades.” He chuckled. “I’d like to learn more about your career as a Relic Broker. This could be fun.” Ramos had stopped calling him a Relic Hunter after he discovered it was considered insulting, and Kai appreciated it.
"I think I could be very happy here with you, Ramos. I had my doubts in the beginning, but we definitely complement each other.” Kai told him.
"I'm glad you're happy, baby." Ramos moved closer, setting his and Kai's drinks on the side table and moving so that his body half covered Kai's. He then kissed him deeply and passionately, with all the possessiveness of a vampire warrior. Kai sank into the cushions of the couch.
He felt Ramos’ hand on the waist of his pants and felt his hand slip inside to cup his tremulous cock in his grip. The pants opened, and the briefs were pulled down. Ramos stroked his hard length over and over, and Kai sank into the passion and the pleasure.
Kai made a few shallow thrusts upward through the tight fist, and then the fist disappeared, and Ramos took him into his mouth.
It was wet and sensual, and Kai was losing his mind.
He took him to the base several times and then teased the head, making him whine with the need for more.
He then pulled the briefs lower and took him down his throat, swallowing and massaging his hard cock with rolling pressure and a heat that was like an inferno.
Kai steadied himself with one hand on the back cushion and the other on Ramos' shoulder, and he was destroyed. Kai thrust upward but with speed and force, needing to reach the end that Ramos was pushing him toward.
The climax came both slowly and in a rush; it rolled over him and then hit him hard, and he came slightly bent from the force of it as it surged through his body.
Ramos took it all and didn't let up until Kai was utterly finished, his breath coming in short, rapid pants and his heart beating out of his chest.
He cleaned him thoroughly and then slid his sweet lips off the tender head and let it drop from between his lips. Ramos leaned back on the sofa with a very satisfied smile.
"I think I could be very happy here with you, Ramos," Kai repeated, panting out the words as he tried to catch his breath.
“I’m glad to hear that, baby.”
