Chapter 67
I t was a long flight, and I was acutely aware of the roar of the engines, and the cabin full of humans, separated from first class where we were seated. Heartbeats, snoring and screaming children as clear as if they were right next to me. Their scent of blood reminded me how hungry I was. My fangs lengthened. I forced them to retract, determined to display the same control that everyone else seemed capable of. My fangs disappeared, to my relief.
“We’re landing soon,” Matteo announced. “I forgot to give you something with all that happened.” He handed me a pair of sunglasses. “You’ll need these,” he said. “It’s daylight.”
They looked the same as the ones I’d seen him wear the first time we met. I slipped them on. “Woah! These are really dark.”
He smiled. “Magically enhanced, specially made for vampires. I had a pair made up for you.”
I lifted up the sunglasses, meeting his eyes. “When did you have a chance to do this?”
A mischievous grin spread across his face. “I asked Carlos to order them after we had dinner for the first time.”
He’d known enough to have sunglasses made for me, that I’d need them. That I’d be a vampire. “You really knew, even then?”
He stroked my cheek with his thumb. “Even then. Your insistence that you wouldn’t want it only made me more determined I would have you. That I would turn you.” He kissed my forehead. “You were so adamant that you’d never allow me to bite you. Look how quickly that changed. Now, you beg me for it.”
I wanted to straddle him while he bit me, and he sensed it through our blood bond, his eyes turning red. “Oh, please do. I’ve sat here for hours, that’s all I could think about.” I glanced around at the rest of the clan and Matteo laughed. “They won’t mind. Vampires aren’t as concerned about sex as many humans are. I’ve known of some clans to…”
An image of multiple naked bodies squirming against each other shimmered through our connection and I gasped, surprised at my body’s reaction to it. Pure lust, and I knew my eyes were red. “Vampire orgy?” My core muscles tightened. “Why am I so turned on by that?”
His hand came down, pressing against my crotch, before moving under my skirt. “Because while Carlos calls us bringers of death, we are also very much creatures of lust and desire. You’d be surprised what makes you wet now. We have plenty of time to explore that.”
He continued moving his fingers against me and I shifted, grinding myself against them, my breath already ragged. I closed my eyes, listening to Matteo’s breathing. His own lust spiked, and I could feel him watching me. I let out a soft groan as he pressed harder. I reached across, finding he already had an erection, and palmed him as he continued stroking me.
His warm breath against my neck only added to the sparks running through my body. I turned my head, my lips parting. His kisses had always been full of hunger, but this was insatiable, and I fell into the feral part of his mind. Surrounded by that nature, I couldn’t hold back the growl, primal as a red haze rose up. I wanted him, and I struggled to hold myself still. I yearned to rip his tee-shirt to reveal his firm body and run my hands over his muscles. To sit on him, rocking slowly while his cock hit all the right places.
‘ Quinn, you make me feral. ’ His voice was a deep growl in my mind. ‘ Lean your head back. I want to bite you, to mark you. ’ His need flooded me, a storm of want and savageness that threatened to undo me.
I leaned my head back against the seat, a delicious shiver passing through me when his fangs pierced my throat. His fingers were insistent, and I chased my pleasure, holding his hand down, feeling myself racing towards that moment I fell apart. My pressure on his groin didn’t let up.
Bright stars exploded behind my closed lids as an intense orgasm hit me, fangs lengthening again.
I did move then, with tremors still jolting through me, sitting in his lap, my head back against his shoulder, pressing myself against him. His arms slid over me, one hand firm against my stomach, the other stroking my breasts. I rubbed myself against his crotch, moaning. He bit me again.
“That was a pleasure to watch,” Carlos said from the other side of the aisle, his voice throaty. “Perhaps invite me next time.”
I froze, returning to my seat. I’d been so wrapped up in my desire for Matteo, I’d forgotten we were on the plane, surrounded by the rest of the clan.
Still coming down from the high of what we’d just done, I glanced over to find a flight attendant kneeling in front of Carlos, her arm held out, which he pressed to his mouth. The tang of blood in the air reminded me of my hunger. I sat up, pressing my tongue to a fang.
“Should he be doing that?” I whispered to Matteo.
Carlos pulled her arm away and gave her wrist a lick, smiling over at me. He spoke to the stewardess in Italian, and she walked around to our aisle. Her eyes were empty as she knelt at our row, holding her arm out to me. “From your King,” she said in a flat voice. “A gift.”
“It’s alright,” Matteo told me. “It’s how we’re able to fly long distances. This cabin is closed off from the humans, and she won’t remember a thing. We can go hunting when we land if you prefer.”
Intrigued, I reached for her outstretched arm and cast a look at Carlos again.
“Young siren, you don’t need my permission, but it is rude to turn away such a gift,” he said, laughter in his eyes.
I bit into her wrist. Her blood hit my tongue, and the next thing I knew, Matteo and Carlos were pulling me from her. Matteo dug his fingers on either side of my jaw until I let go .
“Um.” I didn’t know what to say.
“It’s okay. I shouldn’t have done that,” Carlos said. “Why didn’t you say how hungry you were?”
“No one else seemed to be,” I said.
Carlos grabbed my chin as Josef led the flight attendant away to sit down. He pulled my face, so I was looking in his eyes. “You’re a new vampire, Quinn. You’re still learning about your hunger and limits. You need to tell us. It’s been a couple hundred years since we’ve had a new one with us, so we forget what it was like.”
“If anyone knows about losing control, it’s me,” Matteo confessed. “I’ll make sure to monitor you more closely.”
The plane started its descent, the sound of the engines changing.
We’d spent the day in a villa, huddled together. I strangely enjoyed having the whole clan around me and was getting used to their presence. After hunting, Matteo led me to a boat, and I stood the entire ride, staring at Venice as we raced towards it.
Finally, we docked. Matteo helped me from the boat. As I set foot on the floating city, I could barely contain my excitement. His arms wrapped around me from behind, his lips brushed the back of my neck.
“Welcome home,” he exclaimed.
